One of the best meals of my LIFE was at Mistral... a former office holiday dinner in the wine room. But that is not what this review is about. This review is about the best meal o...

My boyfriend and I went here for a romantic dinner. It was a total disappointment from start to finish. The valet service was nice, however. We ordered our dinner and literally...

Excellent Restaurant 7/27/2005

I've only been twice but I have to say it is one of our favorite places in Boston. My husband is in the industry and agrees whole-heartedly. Our friend who is also in the industry gave us a gift certicate as a wedding gift and we can't wait to use it. Great atmosphere, great food, great drinks -- what more can you ask for? Our reccommendation - start off with one of the pizzas as an app - delicious! The filet practically melts in your mouth! Pros: excellent food, excellent service, beautiful atmospher Cons: pricey more

First time, last time 5/12/2005

With buzz, you hope for better. The food was average (nicely plated though) for the high price and the noise level made you understand why the tables for two are so small, you need to be real close in order to talk. Their wine list is so bulky that it is hard to handle when you have no space at the table. I had the sea bass that was ok. Maybe I shouldn't expect much taste from a simple white fish but I was hoping for more punch from the sauce and other ingredients. My wife had the game hen which was according to her good. We didn't have desert, opting to go to near by Finale for a great desert. The waiter we had was very anxious and didn't make us feel comfortable among the dining din. Bottomline, I've had much better for my money and time. Pros: Scene to be seen Cons: Average entres more

Fantastic French fare... 1/16/2004

The menu here is excellent.Get the mussells in a cream sauce, they're delicious, very rich like many of the dishes (foie gras, coq au vin). Its surprising the french are so skinny! The portobello appetiser was just okay, but the half duck and beef shortribs were perfect. The wine list is bigger than a bible, loads of good choices.Service was impecable on a quiet sunday night.C'ant wait to go back when its busier and check out the scene! Pros: delicious food, service, great wine list more

... boring 8/21/2003

this restaurant has nothing wrong. good waiters, good food, good atomasphere, but missing something. I think menu is too boeing. steak, fries, carppaccio...everything tasted good but if I pay that parice, I would expect something more interesting. I rated good but I won't repeat. more

Best Tuna Tartar!! 5/21/2003

I had the salad with shaved parmesan which was wonderful followed by the most delectible tuna tartar! I tasted the garlic mashed (yum) and steak (delish!) Deserts looked great too (had a bite of the tasty creme brulee). Highly reccomend Mistral for any occasion. Pros: food, ambience, service Cons: price more

Best in Boston 4/12/2003

This was one of the best dining experiences I've had in Boston. I read reviews on bad service, but our service was impeccable! We were taken care of sooooo well! The foie gras was good, but the best dishes were: artichoke salad (the dressing is amazing), the tuna tartare, and the dover sole. The portions were quite generous, and I'm dying to taste the tenderloin next time. It looked amazing. Pros: food, service, portions Cons: expensive, a lot of suits more

My favorite Boston restaurant 4/1/2003

Excellent dining. Can be very crowded. Absolutely adore the scallops; macaroni & cheese; foie gras and steak. (Almost) as expensive as any restaurant in Boston. more

Disappointing 2/18/2003

My boyfriend and I headed to Mistral for Valentine's Day. The bar, which was located right next to the eating area, was teeming with people and extremely noisy. Our appetizers, crab ravioli and tuna tartare, were above average. But I had the halibut entree, which I foudn it to be tasteless and mushy. My boyfriend didn't really like his aged sirloin that much either. To top that off, we saw our waiter maybe twice the entire evening, and the busboy ended up taking care of a lot of our needs. Throughout the night, they kept adding more tables, although i couldn't see how they could possibly fit any more in. The atmosphere seemed more like a noisy pre-club drinking scene rather than a nice restaurant. Maybe it was the food I ordered, but I know I definitely won't be going back. more

Trendy 12/2/2002

The food is delicious, the menu is great, the service, so-so. The waiter would talk you out of what you ordered and suggest something much higher in price. Avoid the lobster bisque, way too thin. Start with a great cesear salad! Pros: trendy Cons: service, location more
