Central service tech classes being taught by adolf hitler!!!! 5/16/2013

Their were red flags from the beginning!! She's friends with the dean so she says she's only there for the $$$. she likes to leave early an if you ask too many questions she rolls her eyes.I forwarn you...DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS UNTIL THEY FIND A NEW TEACHER TO REPLACE THE CURRENT FEMALE ONE! The title of this post is half of what I experienced.... more

Nursing program 12/14/2010

I am currently in the program finishing up my first semester. I hope whoever is reading this post and thinking about applying to the nursing program at MCTC, think twice and consider alternatives! The school acts like all it cares about is their NCLEX pass rate- and damn the students. They make the classes so difficult that you practically have to be able to pass the Nursing Board exam in order to pass the class, which is great for preparing for the NCLEX, but makes it very stressful to try to pass through the program. I had a 3.95 going into the nursing program, and now I'm ecstatic if I can get anything above a "C". And the clinical courses are insane! They are so concerned about medication errors, that practically anything can qualify. Even when I ask questions to clarify, the instructor gives me a medication error. It's like the "Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld is your Clinicals instructor! And 3 medication errors in one semester (which is very easy to get), and you fail the course. And 2 failing courses throughout the whole program and you are basically OUT for good. I've been in classes where half the students in the class are on academic probation for one reason or another. It is a total stress-fest where everyone is on edge. I really wish I picked another school. more

good school 8/20/2005

MCTC is an enjoyable college with small class sizes and comfortable learning environment. The teachers are all nice and understanding. The location is convenient to bus lines and there is a parking ramp across the street. The school is very multicultural and have great services for people with disabilities and ESL students. more

Good Experience 8/12/2005

I can't speak for the overall educational experience-but having taken a general Art class here-I was fairly impressed. The classroom was large, comfortable and technologically up-to-date. The teacher was an expert in his field, well-versed in the subject matter, and an engaging instructor. It seems that community colleges are part of a new trend in higher education-given the tuition hikes at most 4-year universities. Minneapolis Community and Technical College, as with other community colleges around the state, have benefited greatly from this trend-with improved facilities and program offerings. more

You Pay For What You Get 7/29/2005

MCTC has a great downtown location with many buses en route. The campus has seen many updates in the last few years including a brand new library and revamped parking lot. If only the education was as beautiful. If you're looking for technical training, the college offers many fields to get your hands dirty, but the General education classes lack the atmosphere and experienced faculty that you'll find at a University. You definitely pay for what you get as far as education goes, but beware of the cafeteria food. The high price usually associated with gourmet food is attached to this bland and somewhat questionable food. But hey, the culinary students are trying their best. more
