Old Las Vegas at its BEST! 7/9/2010

What great times must have been had by all if this is what ""Old Las Vegas"" had to offer! From a simple vegetable platter, Pumpernickle Bread w/ Parmesan Cheese to start. My Wife started with Lump Crab Cake..great portion size and a nice remoulade. I had French Onion Soup...great flavor and light...hard to find in a FOS. Wife had Fillet Migenon, I had a Steak Au Poive that was prepared table side. Great sides of Potato Gratin...the BEST Cream Corn ever!..and steam brocolli. Deserts we had White Chocolate Creme Brulee and wife had Banana's Foster that was prepared table side. \r \r Thanks again for sucha great culinary Experience Pros: Food, Service Cons: Didnt go sooner! more

Best ""gourmet room"" in vegas 7/6/2008

Please trust me when I say this is the best kept secret in Vegas. I go to Vegas 2-3 times a year, and am always eating at the highest rated restaurants on the strip, but I always make the trip to Michaels. From decor, to food, to service, it feels like you've stepped back to the good old days of Vegas, when the gourmet rooms made you feel like royalty. The wine list is small, but wonderful, and the prices are a great value. The wait staff is very attentive, but not overbearing in my opinion. The menu is on the heavy side (no light ""fusion"" cuisine here), but always well done. \r This is a great dining experience, and if you make the trip out, you won't be disappointed. Pros: Wonderful ambience, very romantic Cons: Out of the way for most people more

Poor Food and intrusive service 7/21/2007

They started us off with a vegetable platter from 1968. Not an ounce of creative flair what so ever. I would say old school, but it was more like dead school. My wife inquired about the creamed mushrooms (app). The captain told us they were chantrelles. When they arrived to the table we had a platter of button and cremini mushrooms. not one chantrelle present. The portions were good size, menu was over priced. Everything was covered in cream and butter and I love fat too. It's better to let the product speak for itself if it's fresh? We could not even enjoy the conversation without a waiter standing over our table. I almost asked him if he would like to join us. We would never go again! Pros: n/a Cons: not a good value at all. more
