I just hope this helps someone out there that is thinking of seeing this Dentist-Dr. Ray Partovy. #1- Just went for a regular check up and Dr. Ray Partovy said I needed some work done ASAP (This procedures I couldn't afford so he offer me a dental credit card which I was approved. Later on I found out that some procedures were not needed:(. #2-In the middle of my root canal procedure, he stop and said to me that I needed a mini surgery that was gonna cost me hundreds of dollars and that my dental credit card had enough funds to cover it. I had no choice but to accept (this had to be done in order to finish this procedure according to him). To make story short, No more than a year later some fillings that he worked on, cracked. I requested the x-rays because I wanted to show them to another dentist but the x-rays were lost. I don't trust any dentist after this experience. I feel stupid for not making my research on this dentist (Dr. Ray Partovy). My advise to you is.......Be careful and always get a second opinion. Good Luck! Unfortunately, my experience is much like many other reviewers here. If only I read the reviews BEFORE I went in for several appointments. The same thing happened to me; expensive deep cleaning as necessary, right off the bat, even though I had regular cleaning covered by my insurance. My first visit ended with a list detailing all the dental work I needed in the thousands!!!!; numerous fillings and of course, invisalign. He also advised me to redo work previously done. My gut feeling finally took over, and I went to another dentist to be sure. An invisalign doctor herself, I asked her if I should do invisaligh, and she said that I was not a even candidate for it . She did not see any filings, and said I did not need to redo anything. She also did not try to pressure me, or ""sell me"" to do any work on my teeth. Just regular cleaning. The difference was like night and day. You really want to trust the advise of your DDS. If it's for my best care to do any treatment, I will certainly do it. But when there is doubt that the advise is not in my best interest, but more on the profits it will procure, I am nervous to take that advise, especially when it is in the thousands!!! My Husband and I were both disgusted at the services provided and the mannerisms of all at Maxella Dental Group. We arrived on time for our appointment. My husband was the first to go in and had to endure 1 hour of the dental assistant attempting to take x-rays of his teeth. The x-ray machine is supposed to be ""high tech"" (apparently); however, it is the patient who operates the damn thing. This ""high tech"" machine was not working and instead of switching to another machine immediately, my husband had to sit through the dental assistant attempting to fix the machine. The paddle kept falling on the floor and the assistant proceeded to attempt to put it back in my husbands mouth without wiping it clean!!!. Meanwhile, 1 hour and 15 mins later I finally went in. The x-ray machine did not work for me either, so they brought out another one, which PS: the assistant did not really know how to work either. After all the ""fluffing around"" Mr Partovy himself came in and proceeded to inform my husband that he needs $15,000 worth of dental work, including braces at 38 years of age!!!!! My husband has always been told that his teeth are fine. Mr Partovy informed me that I was ok but I needed a $400 ""deep clean"" (this is after the discount you receive with health insurance). Oh and the deep clean was assessed before he even looked in my mouth??. Mr Partovy made his speech then prompty left and without asking, in came the ""finance"" assistant to work out a ""payment plan"" for our ""much needed"" dental work. We felt like we were in a used car yard. What a scam. It is amazing how a free checkup and clean can end up meaning you have to re-finance your home loan! I guess we can forget about that new car we want to buy. Pros: DSW Shoes is right downstairs Cons: You better be MEGA rich and have A LOT of time more

wow! what an awful experience. my last check up was only a year ago (where the dentist said i had ""perfect"" teeth"") and since then the very rushed, robotic people at maxella dental group told me that I need $4600 worth of work including 9 cavities filled, some teeth ""bonded"", 2 visits worth of deep cleaning, supplies that the dentist said i needed (must be special toothbrush and floss), and more! when i said that seemed a little extreme and could i just get a regular cleaning, the dentist responded by showing me a book of people's teeth turning black and falling out. he said that would surely happen to me if i didn't follow their plan. i was so disgusted by this total scam operation that i left immediately. then i read these other reviews and learned that it's not me and everyone gets the same treatment. SAVE YOUR YOURSELF THE BAD EXPERIENCE and get a referral from someone you trust..... Pros: nice receptionist, good location Cons: too many to name more

I was not happy at Partovy's office because of their aggressive sales tactics. I felt like I was at a car dealership than a dentist office. Rather than provide relevant dentistry advice, they wrote me a list of everything I ""need"" to have done, including a $75 floride cleaning, while my insurance coverage already covers a basic cleaning. They also wanted me to replace all the silver fillings on my back molars even though there was nothing medically wrong with them. When I asked for a paper copy of everything they wanted me to have done (almost 2k worth of work even though my last visit with another dentist 6 months ago didn't say I needed any work), they told me to call back the next day. And of course, they never provided me the info. more

I'm not sure who my dentist was. It was not the apparently nice lady on the other reviews nor the main DDS (although he never said hello to me and I saw him a couple of times). The male dentist who was somewhat inexperienced b/c he had to run to the other dentist to ask his opinion tried to force an emergency service on me. My wisdom tooth was pulled out recently and I have pain. He told me I had a dry socket b/c the air he blew on it hurt. He said they'd have to do a procedure now or it would get worse. I denied it and went to the emergency clinc I had been to, UCLA. The instuctor there said I didn't have a dry socket and that all I had to do was rinse with salt water. He also gave me a perscription for another rinse if the salt didn't work. That was free! Maxella wanted to charge me $150ish for the procedure I didn't need. He recommened some other services for me but now I'm hesitant that they are trying to sneak the services in there. Be wary! more
