15 minutes to eat 10/14/2011

I have visited Marietta Diner many times but never experienced being so rushed. 30 minutes after I arrived the waiter kept asking if I was finished, did I want a box, etc. I had ordered the Patty Melt and Onion Rings and was being given 15 minutes to eat it. My friend asked about her eggs and was told, just let them do their thing. I am a nurse and had I given those answers to a family or resident I would have been reprimanded on the spot. I spoke with the Manager and he said something about it being open 24 hrs. It was one of my worst experiences. more

Wonderful food! 1/14/2011

We dined here on New Year’s Eve. I had a meatball sub sandwich that was perfect; the meatballs did not taste like breadcrumbs, the marinara was delicious and the cheese was melted to perfection. It was so big, I couldn’t finish it. My honey had a fried chicken cutlet sandwich. The chicken extended way past the bun on all sides and was fried perfectly. I don’t know what kind of breading they used, but I want the recipe. It was light so that you could appreciate the taste of the meat. The fries were great. The cake was good, but it was cold due to the fridge. I prefer room temp cake. I’ve been here a couple of times, and all the meals have been wonderful. I don’t live close, but we will make a special trip to come back. more

One of our favorites 5/27/2010

The diner is always crowded, and with good reason. They serve breakfast all day was well as just about any type of food you might be wishing for. For breakfast, I particularly enjoy the Athenian omelet. For lunch and dinner, check the daily specials for the best values. Don't be afraid to ask for the dish to be customized for you, they often go out of their way to remove meat, substitute cheeses, or replace vegetables for me. Around Marietta, it's difficult to find another place with such good food at such a decent price with such large portions. Pros: Unbelievable number of dishes offered, large portions Cons: Often crowded, few options for smaller portion sizes more

Everyone can't agree on where to eat? Choose here! 10/19/2009

I have eaten here since I was a kid. Amazing food, service, and cakes! If you can't decide what you want to eat, simply go here! Pros: They have everything!! Cons: Having everything seems weird, but trust me--it's great! more

Great Service. Stimulating ambience. Food was characteristic diner fare. 1/19/2009

The seafood soup was good as expected, but the Greek salad was dominated by raw onion. Tthe dressing was a little different than the usual oil and vinegar. I was disappointed in my search for an authentic Napoleon (pastry). This was filled with the whipped crisco stuff I find on supermarket cakes which I usually scrape off. Although the diner was packed on Friday the service was super.\r I'll continue my search for an authentic pastry shop in Atlanta. Pros: colorful, stimulating ambience, extensive menu, great service. Cons: food was mundane. more

Mediocre Diner 1/13/2009

After months of passing by this restaurant, my girlfriend and I finally decided to stop in and try it out. It was recommended to my girlfriend and me that night by a salesman at a local store. We were impressed by the lively atmosphere and the nice decor of the restaurant. The staff was very friendly. We were seated as soon as we walk in. We notice it was very busy but they seemed to have had a lot of staff. As a matter of fact, I noticed at various times some of them seemed to be just standing around socializing. At least they were a tad bit over staffed this evening. The waiter brought out some bread. The bread was good. My girlfriend ordered a grilled chicken gyro which came with fries and a side salad. The serving sizes were very impressive. I ordered stuffed pasta shells and it came with a soup, salad and bread. I ordered a cream of mushroom and a Greek salad. To our surprise, the food was very bland. Almost no flavor at all. I ate mine only because I had no breakfast and a small lunch, so I was hungry. I did not enjoy the food. The best part of my meal was the soup. My girlfriend's gyro was very bland too as she broke a piece of it and had me try it. We were very disappointed and we will not go back. We have eaten at other area diners including Buckhead, Sandy Springs and Duluth. All of those were clearly above this one. Maybe we had high expectations based on the other three, but all we know is that this one had very bland food. Pros: Ambience, Service Cons: Food more

Really liked this place, alot 7/27/2008

We would recommend this place to anyone. We were in Marietta for a baseball tournament. One morning we went to the Diner to eat breakfast. The staff was very nice and made sure they did everything they could to make our visit enjoyable. The food was tasty, good size portions and very reasonable. We left there full and happy. We liked it so much, we went back the next day for a late lunch/early dinner. Once again the food was outstanding and very reasonable. It was great that the younger ones could get breakfast food (which is what they were wanting) while the rest of us got lunch/dinner type food. I only wish we would have saved room for dessert. The desserts all looked so good, it would have been hard to choose which one to order. I wish we had a place like this where we live. If we're ever in Georgia again, we'll make sure we eat here... YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Pros: Good Food, Friendly Service, Reasonable Prices, Nice Decor Cons: We don't live in Georgia so we could eat here often more

Best New York Style Diner 5/13/2008

I lived in New York before moving here. I have been trying to find a dining experience to compare to what I missed. I found it here. The food portions are truly reminisent of that from NYC diners. The food was very good. I have taken friends visiting me here to share in this experience as well. Wonder place for a harty meal. Pros: Four Thumbs up. Smile :) Cons: Parking could be a little better. more

gigantic menu! 4/27/2008

ok, we saw this place on diners drive ins and dives on food network (yes i am a dork). we had no idea it was even around. but thank god we don't live closer or i wouldnt be able to fit into any of my jeans. the menu is HUGE and its open 24 hours. my bf had the veal saltimboca (good), i had the greek sampler (yummy) and our friend had a slice of chocolate mousse cake the size of her head. you've got to go just to see the dessert case. we got a slice of coconut cream pie in the fridge that i cant even think about eating right now. great place to take out of towners. plus, service was fast and friendly. you've gotta go. Pros: menu is pages long, serves breakfast all the time Cons: hard to make a choice more

Great late night Dinning 3/6/2008

Marietta diner is excellent for late night dinning. Althought I am not crazy about their desserts and regular menu items. I think it's a little bland. Now breakfest is ok I figure you can't mess breakfest up to much. If you mess up breakfest you are in the wrong profession and you can't cook. BUT... The Greek salad with london broil is the best salad I have ever had which is why I order from them in the first place. Because of this factor it's great for me to visit on lunch or late night Pros: Late night, wealth of choice Cons: Needs more seasoning more

24 Hours a day.... The Best Late Night North of the Perimeter 11/16/2007

We have been in here all hours of the day and night and always enjoy the food. What a varied menu! From Eggs Benedict, Corned Beef Hash and Chocolate Chip Pancakes to Baked Salmon and T-Bone Steaks with Greek Specialties thrown in for ""excitement""..... There is just one problem! It is very hard to decide what to have, when. Breakfast or Dinner anytime BUT who of us can make it past the dessert counter.... Cakes, Pies , Cookies, Eclairs, Canolis and every type of baked good that you can imagine! VERY GOOD .... ALL THE TIME! Pros: Average quality but PLENTIFUL Cons: A little rushed and crowded! more

Best kept secret of Marietta 11/18/2006

I have to say that the Marietta Diner has to be the best kept secret in the ATL area. It looks like a nice clean diner on the outside but when you sit down for dinner, you get soooo much more than a sandwich. They start you out with the famous spanakapita and then homemade chicken noodle soup with warm bread , When you order your meal, which can be anything from breakfast to the best greek dish I have had...and Im greek, you don't have to wait an eternity!! Service is always the best and eventhough the parking lot is always packed no matter when you go, they always have enough seating for everyone. No waiting lines like most good places. During dinner, the owners make it a point to come around and see that everyone is happy....very classy! We travel over an hour to just eat dinner here and it's worth the drive . Prices are fantastic because one meal ends up being three with the leftovers. Just stop by and get more than just a hamburger.....you won't regret it!! Pros: Great food, Fast Service more

wonderfully comfortable 11/3/2006

This is a great place to hang out, drink some coffee and catch up with friends. Be aware that it is going to be a bit busy on the weekends, but its to be expeceted as there just aren't enough places like this in town. Pros: coffee and dessert Cons: gyros are preformed :( more
