Wow times 10. My son got his braces off today and we said anywhere for dinner. He said Margaux's because he likes the desert. My wife had the duck, my son the kids steak, and I had the pork gumbo. My wife actually admitted that her duck was the best she ever had and that she couldn't come close to preparing a duck that well. If you knew my wife you would know that is the greatest compliment ever. My pork was amazing and little man knocked out the steak and two baskets of cornbread.\r \r Thanks to everyone at Margaux's more

This place was just the best fine-dining i've had in Raleigh since i moved here Six years ago! I went for my birthday last night and the service was amazing and the food was even better! Portion size was perfect and i felt like i got really nice food for a fair price. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice evening out! more

We have eaten at Margaux's a few times and I just had to write a review. The menu is so unique, along with the decor. The atmosphere is cool and the staff is very laid back. A great place to relax and have a great meal. We have never been disappointed. The food is rich and unpretentious. You have to go...check it out! more

My Favorite Restaurant 12/10/2011

My husband and I enjoyed the annual Thanksgiving buffet and it was outstanding. Large selection of just about everything under the sun. I highly recommend this restaurant. more

Raleighs unique gem! 11/9/2011

This is one of the more interesting places in raleigh from the food to the wait staff. The food has been some of the best I have ever had. The menu had a very unique mix of dish choices from fish to the normal steak and even wild game that you won't find most places. There is also a 3 course prix fix menu that allows people to choose from a three course meal with a multitude of choices. Also the staff is extreamly friendly and attentive they make the experience of going on a date stress free and very exciting. All and all this is one if not the best place in raleigh to spend an evening out to dinner for a date or even a group of friends. more

Hell yeah!! 10/23/2011

This place rocks. Their menu is always changing with the freshest ingredients. i enjoyed every bit of this restaurant. For starters I got the Caesar Salad which was one of the best salads I have ever ate, then for my main entree I got the Mixed Grill which comes with a Half of a 1.5# Maine Lobster with crab cake, grilled tuna, garlic shrimp, bacon scallop, spuds & market vegetables which was very delicious, and for desserts my wife and I split the bread pudding that ended our night off in a sweet way. Service was perfect our waiter knew the menu inside and out. I love this place and will be back in a jiffy. more

Best Place In RALEIGH!! 9/21/2011

Margaux's deserves a 100% in my books. The first thing that caught my eye was their wonderful outside patio with nice chairs and nice granite tables. When we got inside of the restaurant it was like an atmosphere you don't find in any other restaurants. My wife and I met some friends for dinner there and were very impressed. We went on a saturday and were greeted by two lovely hostesses with great big smiles. We sat by the one of a kind fish tank and were taken back at the unique decor of the establishment. Our server welcomed us with open arms and kindly took our drink orders. We ordered some appetizers to start off with and were very impressed with them. Our main entrees were fantastic and they were easy to devour because of the tasty things inside of the dishes. After dinner we indulged our way into a nice moist bread pudding that was 2die4 and a creamy creme br more

Bad Service, Awful Prix Fixe... Questionable Return 8/23/2011

We had a family function there and I have to say, we were let down. The waitress was crass and I personally had food removed while I was still eating. And my sister's unfinished drink was taken away too. Yes you get 18% with a large party but we tend to tip 20%+ so there may be reason to act like there is still a tipping discretion, hello! I didn't expect the waitress to be that bad. However the host was great in contrast. Then the Prix Fixe menu was more of a disappointment then a stand-out like you'd expect: The portions were a joke (one skewer came out as my husband's appetizer, I had two bite-sized pieces on a saucer plate of what I ordered, etc.) and the entree choices were a complete let down. I ordered the sirloin and tried to order it medium well only to be told to order it rare or else it would be hard. I get it's a sirloin cut but that was an attempt to hide the inferior, fatty quality of the meat. Awful. But we also ordered the super expensive filet and while the sides and sauce was amazing, the taste of blue cheese masked the actual flavor of the filet. On a positive note the calamari though was exceptional. And all the desserts (but the chocolate pie-- frozen) were too. But after $300+, I'm not sure I'd go again when other fine dining establishments have delivered better. more

Great food and atmosphere 4/13/2011

I rarely write reviews on-line, but Margaux's really was fantastic. After waiting at the very cool bar for a little while, we were seated by a very nice hostess. The food and services were some of the best I've ever had. The crab cakes and baked clams appetizers were out of this world. I look forward to going back. more

Very Good Food 2/12/2011

We went there for the Saturday before Valentine's Day and were pleasantly surprised that they served from the regular menu as many places do their expensive Valentine's menu all weekend. I was dissapointed that the cheese appetizer I wanted was sold out. But that was the only dissapointment of the night. Everything from the food to the service was great. I enjoy how their food is just slightly different. Not crazy like some fancy restaurants but original enough. While we can't afford to eat there every weekend, we definitely plan on going back. more

LOVE LOVE LOVE! 2/12/2011

Just had an AMAZING evening at margauxs! My fiance' and I were out celebrating Valentines day early and decided to give margauxs a whirl. Everything from the moment we walked through those big castle-like doors was PERFECT! The front of house staff greeted us warmly, offering a table by the fireplace and hanging our jackets for us. From there it only got better, our server was friendly and really knew a lot about the menu, throughout our meal we were blessed with a bevy of wonderful servers! Everyone works together and you really get a sense of family when your at this place! We even had the pleasure of meeting the owner who is a constant pressence in the dining room, waiting tables, taking iorders and helping out when needed. The decor is fun and eclectic, there's a fish tank, a fireplace, a big jade buddah and a knight in shining armour! Really something for everyone! Sounds good right? well i have yet to mention the best part.......THE FOOD is incredible! perfectly cooked! and so good i was licking my plate at the end! The menu is huge! so much choice and variety from the very plain and basic to the decadent and rich. Keep up the good y'all! We'll be back! (very soon!) more

Disagree with BEAG 2/5/2011

I hope that BEAG will again visit the Jewel of North Raleigh, although I have never had any experience close to his / her description, for my dining dollar, one cannot find a better value or a better Chef. The service has always been outstanding, and one of the finer wine cellers one can find. I have dined 4 times there this week, once for pleasure and three for business. All outstanding meals and service that would earn 5 stars. If your not returning, I will gladly take your table ! more

very dissapointed 2/4/2011

fond customers over the past ten years, how disappointing to have a chewy fillet with undercooked potato -my wife with an inedible concoction purported to be a fancy enchilada-oh how pricey and then patronizing and arrogant the owner was- imagine- a 100.00 tab with food sent back and he offers a single slice of a chocolate torte to us as if that was an adequate response. Too bad- this is one of the few upscale restaurants in north Raleigh-apparently the owner lacks the competition to keep his up his game-perhaps loosing a long time customer or two will get this establishment back on track to deliver quality commensurate with the price they exact more

Always a favorite 1/29/2011

My wife and I dined once again last night at this north raleigh jewel. We love the food. We love the staff. We love the atmosphere. We just can not get enough. We have been coming to Margaux's for the past three years and we can't wait to dine here for the next twenty. For dinner I had perhaps the finest scallops I have ever enjoyed - paired with shrimp dumplings and a delicious sauce that I can't pronounce or attempt to spell, but I assure you was divine. My wife had a filet with a short rib stew that she may not stop talking about for the next month (or until we get back to margaux's). Home run, again... more

Do it...Again and Again and Again 1/27/2011

I have been enjoying Margaux's the entire 19 years their doors have been open............To consistently do what Margaux's does (more on that below), for so long, and in such a questionable and volatile economy, says so much about this establishment, it's staying power and ability to adapt to ever-changing demands and preferences. When nothing less than perfection seems to be the expected outcome of every dining experience, Margaux's does just that and simply continues to the raise the bar... more

Prix Fixe - don't do it... 1/21/2011

Having often traveled across Europe, especially France, I have had a lot of experience with Prix Fixe menus. The objective of these is to provide the diner with the a fixed price encompassing a starter, main and dessert. Living close by to Margeaux's, my wife and I decided to try out this option last evening. We were awfully disappointed. While the front of the house is excellent, the food did not come close to matching. My wife's Caesar was bland, lacking any evidence of anchovies in the dressing. Her Striped Bass was simply horrible, under cooked fish and green beans. On the other hand, the potatoes were over cooked. My Terrine lacked flavor, my Scallops dish had a grand total of 3 .... I was still hungry upon finishing. The portions are quite a bit smaller than the regular menu items. On the bright side, the creme brule was decent. This was our 3rd visit to this Restaurant - 2 of the 3 have been sub par... Suffice it to say, we would rather eat at the Chineese take out establishment next door Pick up your game Margeaux's... more

Great food Great Staff 1/15/2011

My wife Cheryl and I have been going to Margaux for over 11 year. We eat there 5 - 6 times a year and have drinks there another 6 - 8 times a year. From our 1st meal a 3 # lobster during Lobster Fest to our last a Filet with roquefort in Dec. The service and food have always been excellent I would highly recommend it for a special occasion or if you want to impress a special someone. You must try the French Onion soup it is the BEST!!!! more

Better Than I Remembered 10/3/2010

I went to Margaux's Restaurant last night after not visiting Raleigh for quite some time. The menu seemed more extensive, interesting and diversified than I remembered. I enjoyed every course much more than the anticipation! I am eager to go back and order from their new Prix Fixe Menu. The selections were great and the price was right. The outside Patio was a big surprise and gorgeous too! I am looking at a review written September 26, 2010, just a few days ago and I cannot believe we are talking about the same restaurant! more
