Not an experienced horse rider, but my friends and I literally LOVED being there and our beautiful ride with a great patient (oh yes, I was so scared of falling down and he helped me a lot) instructor. I will come back there soon, it is a great experience, full of adrenaline and beauty. We made a walk along the coast. OMG! I'm writing it and want to get back there asap. AWESOME! BEAUTIFUL! FUN! P.S. There was a cute pony there, so kids will love riding it for sure. Thank you, Mar Vista Stables stuff for being patient and professional! more

Wow...although it was a cold and foggy morning, our experience was fantastic! The people who managed the place was cordial and professional. You cannot beat their competitive prices. What stable offers 1 1/2 hours ride time for $35.00? None other than Mar Vista Stables. What a wonderful promotion. You need to call ahead to reserve for the 1 1/2 hour ride, and ask if they still have their special. Regarding the horses, they appeared well kept, very tamed and sweet. I loved my horse, Ginger. She was compliant and was so pretty. The ride transverses along the mountainside down to the beach (a CLEAN, cold beach) and then we ride for another ten-15 min and then turn around to get back to the stables. When our ride was finished, I asked the guide if I could take a picture with Ginger. She was very kind and conversed with me, even though everyone had already dismounted their horses! I will most definitely return to this establishment. more

The view is breathtaking. It is an absolutely amazing trail that I would recommend to anyone. The horses are calm for the most. My friend's horse kept on stopping and eating grass on the way, and got mad every time we would try to keep going. The staff was friendly and helpful. more

I enjoyed a marvelous, sunny ride at Mar Vista today with my seven year-old daughter. I called ahead of time, and while they didn't take reservations, they did recommend arriving before noon, as they weren't sure if they would stay open later. They indicated not being sure how many people would turn out for the day, presumably because it was late in the season. We arrived around 10:45 and were instantly outfitted with two horses and a guide. My daughter's horse was elderly and specifically allocated for small riders. He was very well behaved and an easy ride during her maiden voyage on a horse. My ride, a 16 year-old quarter horse, tried to turn back and head home a couple of times, but otherwise the trip was effortless. The horses knew the trail down to the beach very well. Our guide was personable and chatted with and instructed my daughter most of the way while she guided her on a lead rope. When we pulled back into the stable area, a large group of about 10 was heading out. I was thankful we arrived early and missed the rush. I was impressed with how smooth everything went. We will be heading back for more rides in the future. more

Great place to go horse back riding along the SF coast (you get to ride a trail along the dunes and down onto the beach and right along the water--even trot if you and your horse are up to a little ""giddy-up"")... Excellent views and pricing, and best of all, it's been owned and operated by the same family since 1989, and the staff are great. They love the horses and are so good to them... I rode an older horse named Grandpa, and he kept stopping along the trail to eat the local greenery LOL... had a great time, and will definitely be back again! more

I came here a few months ago with a group of friends and had a great time. The horses took advantage of the newbies by stopping and eating plants which made for some good laughs. I've been at other places where a random person complains the whole time so I was pleasantly surprised not having strangers added to our bunch. I returned this past weekend with my boyfriend and we both agreed this is where we will ride from now on. After telling the wranglers we had experience, we were assigned two beautiful Bays and departed alone with the guide for 1.5 hours. Everything was nice until we got down to the water where the true fun began. Maybe it was because we were alone and experienced that our guide allowed us to cut loose. These calm trail horses turned into spunky racers zipping down the beach. We seriously had a blast. This place is pretty awesome considering the decent prices, no reservations, and overall riding experience. more

Good ride, pretty cheap plus you ride to the beach then down the beach just to walk back they way u came down. It's worth the 40 a piece. If your around give it a try. more

I have nothing else to compare this business to as far as horse-riding, but I will say that for beginner riders, it's a beautiful experience to ride for an hour down to the beach. For more experienced riders and for those of us who like more adventure/risk, it would be great if we were allowed to ride fast for the time on the beach. more

I took my boyfriend on a surprise date and what a great idea! Horseback riding was so much fun!!! We did the 1 hour ride and it was just right!! Going down the mountain at first scared me but once I got the hang of it I enjoyed the experience. Our guide Apolonio was really cool, he guided us and made sure we stayed all together and helped get my horse going since I was too scared to kick him, he guided us down to the beach and pointed out some dolphins in the ocean!! So cool to see!! Once we got to the beach we got to take some cool pictures! Clear blue skies, barely any wind, it was a perfect Sunday afternoon adventure. My horse was a little hyper but some sweet talk and some kisses got him going. I would totally recommend anyone to come check them out! Best parts were the views and my boyfriend having a great time with his childhood memories!! more

I have always had good experiences riding here. I used to live in the Daly City area over 20+yrs. ago and would ride there almost every weekend. I go there once in a while now (because I moved across the bay). I learned how to ride better and developed my riding skills from riding there. I have always had a passion for horses since I was a young girl. This is a nice place to ride, enjoy the scenery, and have a good time, especially on warm and sunny days. more

Pretty fun 1-hour ride. The horses were well-behaved (sometimes lazy, but you get that with horses half the time anyway, you just need to be firm with them), and the scenery was gorgeous! more

Beautiful trail down to the beach. Even the weather was nice although a little foggy. The trail guide barely spoke English and I barely speak Spanish so having a conversation was funny. lol I was the only one out on the trail ride this morning so it was fun because my guide let me canter a bit up and down the beach. After he was sure that I was an experienced rider. He was also nice enough to take pics and videos of me with my camera phone. Would definitely go again =) more

Loved my ride. I got lucky and was the only one there so I got a private ride on the beach. The guide was very nice and the views are amazing. Price was $50 for an hour and definitely not for a ride on the beach (especially considering SF prices). Can't wait to go back. more

I've heard a lot about these stables, but I went this weekend and had a blast! They were really helpful and nice. The horses seemed to be well taken care of. The horse I rode was strong and beautiful! I truly recommend everyone to give it a chance and go. It really is amazing. I fell in love with the view and the trail. The staff were great. They seemed to really care if we enjoyed the ride. I had an amazing time. I will be back soon and will definitely recommend it to others. more
