get there early, the place is always packed with hungry folks. I had the chicken fried steak and wow!! cooked to perfection. If you have 6 or more people you can make a reservation and split a cinnamon roll which I recommend. What was banshee14 thinking? A 3, he must like McDonalds or Denny's good food???? Overated 10/11/2002

Much too long of a wait for food that isn't all that great. I've never understood what the big draw to this place is anymore. It may have had good food like 10 years ago but it's totally gone down hill. Cramped waiting area and very loud restaurant once you finally get seated. Pros: Cinnamon rolls Cons: Crowded, Loud, Just OK food more

Best Breakfast in Seattle 8/29/2002

Going hiking north of town? Stop here on your way to the trailhead for the tastiest breakfast you've ever had in your life. Got guests from out of town visiting? Bring them here for a real ""locals only"" experience (and save yourself the stress of cooking for them, too.) The Maltby cafe is my favorite place for breakfast in all of Seattle. Delicious food in generous portions, tasty coffee, friendly wait staff who know what they're doing, reasonable prices, and a homey atmosphere all add up to put this at the top of my list. The downside to its popularity is that there's usually about a 30-45 minute wait for a table, but this time is easily spent browsing the shops across the parking lot, or sitting on the front porch steps in the sun. Great Breakfast! 8/23/2002

On my last day in Seattle, I went to the Maltby Cafe that I read so much about. I will say that going to this cafe really started my last day off right! The breakfast was great! Just wish that I could have had enough room to try one of the great cinnomon rolls availible! Looks like they were a real hit, as they were all gone from the shelf by the time that I left! If I come back to Seattle, this will definitely be a breakfast stop for at least one of the days that I'm there! Pros: Good Value, Great food more

Maltby Cafe hands down has the best breakfast I have ever eaten. I have been there dozens of times and not once have I had a bad experience. Don't let the wait get you down, trust me, it's worth it! Pros: Great Food, Big Portions, Friendly Staff Cons: Long Wait Times, Small waiting area more

Good old-fashioned breakfast 5/20/2002

Hearty doesn't even cover it---these breakfasts are mammoth. It's a cozy, country place. But the wait can get a little too long. I've had to wait over an hour and a half, and that's really pushing it. more
