Worst

Too Big. Too many of the stores are owned by the same tentants. A great place to visit, but I wouldn't want it to be the mall I go to for everything.

Everyone's a terrorist at MOA!! Beware!! 9/7/2011

Listen to NPR story on Sept 7, 2011 about this grossly anti-American monstrosity. They LOVE trampling all over individual's rights. DO NOT SHOP HERE! more

Go to get harassed 12/14/2008

My wife and I have visited this mall on many occasions and it's an absolute gruesome expense of time being harassed by all the little mall kiosk vendors ALL OF THE TIME. We can't walk through the hallways without the kiosk vendors walking in front of our path ""excuse me sir, can i ask you a question"", ""beautiful wife sir, beautiful wife, can i speak to you for a second"", ""wow look at this couple, come over here for a moment, let me show you something""... then when you ignore them they say ""Have a GREAT afternoon"" and you know by GREAT they mean ""go f yourself"" On most other occasions when you ignore them as you walk by they speak to your back in a foreign language (most of these harassers appear to be of Persian descent), and again, you know that what they're saying to you must not be good at all. Pros: Food courts getting better food vendors Cons: Get harassed down most hallways by the kiosk vendors and sworn at in a foreign language when you ignore them, spiked prices, failed 4th floor clubs. more

Yarn Knit and 2/20/2008

I flew into Bloomington, MN from Santa Cruz, CA to the ""Great Mall"" for a yarn knitters and crochet convention. It had a really big turn out of 50,000 more

It is big, I'll give them that. 6/11/2007

It is a huge facility. If you have kids and one spouse wants to shop...then this is your place. Otherwise, you seen on big mall you've seen them all in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, there were shops there that we don't have but still. The amusement park is scaled down and great for kids. I DO NOT recommend the aquarium. It was a HUGE dissapointment. The only nice thing was the underwater tube you walk thru but that was it!! Definitely not worth the $13/person!!! Save your money for a full scale aquarium instead on your next vacation! Pros: No sales tax on clothing! Huge mall! Great place for kids! Cons: Aquarium HUGE dissapointment!!! more

Weekend of Endless Good Times 4/24/2007

This is the place for everybody to have a good time. I was just there 2 weeks ago, met my oldest son and his 4-year-old son there for the weekend. Did the aquarium, Legoland, and most of the rides at the amusement park. There is something for everyone and it's impossible to get bored! Stayed at a close motel (Ramada Mall of America-great, too), and we were close to the airport so my grandson could see the planes go over. I can't recommend this kind of experience enough, and we're doing it again this fall for a weekend of Christmas shopping. Pros: So much to do, wide variety of stores to find just what you're looking for; no problem parking Cons: busier on weekends, lines longer, wait for seat at Rainforest Cafe was over an hour more

Worth checking out, unless you hate malls... 1/13/2007

My family recently met up in Minneapolis for Thanksgiving at my sister's...how could we NOT check out the MOA while there?! I'm not a big shopper but this place has enough non-shopping stuff to keep the entire family occupied while waiting for those who do shop a lot. 1st off, we went on Black Friday, surely a sign of madness on our part if we wanted to avoid crowds, right? Wrong! Despite the packed parking garages, this place didn't get maddeningly cramped w/ people because it is H.U.G.E. So even when packed, the crowds aren't so bad (I'm from NYC, I know crowds). The amusement park and aquarium are great fun for those who don't want to shop, plus the park's point system (as opposed to paying 1 flat fee for the whole thing) lets people ride a few rides & go on; you don't feel like you have to spend your whole day there because you spent so much money for admission. Don't expect a 6 Flags or something, there are a few coasters that satisfy that urge, but it's more like a sampling of different attractions rather than a nonstop journey of big thrill rides. The aquarium is very cool. The store selection is vast for those who DO want to shop, there were definitely a few specialty stores that we don't have around here. Food/snack selection good throughout the mall. It's a bit tough getting a table in the food court but oh well, that's life. Because it was the holidays, they had some great musical performances going on throughout the mall; I don't know if they normally do that, but it was cool to see/hear. Not just a mall, a great destination for families if only a few people wanna shop! Pros: Amusement park, aquarium, selection of stores, musical performances Cons: Crowded parking, tough to get food court tables more

More than just a mall... 9/15/2005

Let's be serious, the mall is nice for shopping, but that's not the REAL attraction to visiting this Mega-temple of consumerism. There is so much entertainment! Camp Snoopy is good clean fun, and Underwater World is also a cool experience for visitors. If you live here, it's not your first destination for excitement, but it is a GREAT place to spend a day with out-of-town visitors, or stop by yourself when you come to the Great North Woods! Pros: l more

Go with an open mind 8/19/2005

My husband and I have spent a few days here and there at the MOA and will definately go back. There are a few unique shops that are really worth searching out, and the anchors are unlike anything we have at home. Plus, we really love Underwater Adventures! Go early, your wristband is good all day and for just a little extra you can get set up on one of the behind-the-scenes tours and even get to help feed some of the fish! Pros: Free Parking, Lots to Do Cons: Loud more

If you've seen one mall, you've seen them all. 6/8/2005

There is nothing extraordinary about this mall; if you've ever been to any metro-area mall, there isn't anything in the Mall of America (MOA) that you'd find unique. Yes, there is an amusement park, but its nothing spectacular. If you're expecting a Six Flags, you will be highly disappointed. Overall, its nothing to go out of your way to see. If you want shopping and amusement parks you'd be better off going to the greater Chicagoland area, which has the 2nd or 3rd largest mall in Schaumburg, a Six Flags in Gurnee, and plenty of other attractions. Pros: lots of chain stores Cons: only chain stores, not unique, semi-crowded more

American jokes ain't funny 4/17/2005

I worked for a major airline, some years back. We trained for 10 weeks. Six weeks into training we were given flight privileges allowing us to travel anywhere in the world. I looked at Russia, Africa and South America. The only other trainee I respected had eyes set on Northern Europe. Approximately 12 of the remaining 24 students had no plans beyond going as a group to The Price is Right. 10 others could imagine nothing greater than The Mall of America. How utterly pathetic. The Mall of America is an even more vile example of consumerism than the corporatization of Times Square. What a shame it's in an otherwise cool State like Minnesota. Pros: a.k.a., corporate, wenches Cons: soulless, vacuous, tripe more

MOA! 4/10/2005

It suprises me that people would actually bash the MOA (the cool way to say Mall Of America) for being ""crowded."" I live about 20 min. away from MOA and I have only experienced a large crowd during the Christmas season. Even then the Capacity that the MOA can hold is amazing. As for the extra number of stores. I apprecitate that there are ""extra"" number of stores. Or else it would be a pain in rear to walk miles on end from store to store. Also, the doubles of stores are limited. **If ever in the state, come and visit the LARGEST mall in America. (and in the future possibly the largest in the world. They plan on adding on, including a Waterpark. Also, even if you swing through the Airport, there is a lightrail that can bring you to the MOA! Pros: Lots to do, Lots of Parking, Good Exercise Cons: Lack of Unique stores more

No Point To This Mall 2/22/2005

After the thrill of being in the largest shopping mall in America wears off (and it wears off quickly- for me it wore off about 10 years ago), this mall is a hassle. It's exhausting trying to walk all over this mall to the different stores you want to go to. There's nothing special or unique about the stores. It's crowded. There's no point. If you want a regular mall experience in a more managable environment, try Southdale, right down the road on 494. If you want to visit some popular shopping areas of the twin cities that have a little more character and charm, try uptown Minneapolis or Grand Avenue in St. Paul. However, if you like big and plastic, then perhpas the Big Mall is the place for you. And I suppose everyone should go once, just to say they've been. But don't say I didn't warn you. Cons: crowded, boring more

Great mall to pass the time between flights 2/21/2005

I visisted the Mall of Americas a few years ago on a stop-over coming back from a holiday. I had 6 hours in Minneapolis and thought why not go to the mall. The airport has direct shuttles to the mall. It took only a few minutes to get there so parking wasn't a problem. The mall has everything you could want: good anchor stores and everything inbetween. However, I guess I was expecting more as I was able to see and do it all in a matter of a few hours. I thought it might be as good as the West Edmonton Mall but it's not. It seems a lot smaller. Maybe that's because it's on several floors and not as spread out. West Ed has way more to offer but MOA is certainly a good choice. It wasn't very busy when I was there which was really nice (weekday) Pros: variety, no crowds more

Well, it's a Big Mall... 12/14/2004

Mall of American is Big. Really Big. It's often crowded, it's always noisy, and it doesn't have anything other malls don't. It just has MORE of them. Every mall in the country can probably say they have a Victoria's Secret; MOA has several. Likewise Bath and Body Works, Limited, Coffee Shops, and shops selling tacky memorabilia. Looking for unique stores, with stuff you won't find anywhere else? Don't look here; with the exception of the cheese shop there aren't any. There were some when it opened, but they've all gone away to be replaced with MOA gift shops and places selling overpriced ball caps. Don't go with kids. If it's crowded you won't be able to get anywhere with the stroller. If you don't have a stroller, they'll get tired of walking before you're halfway around. Overpriced, oversized, overrated. Pros: free parking, great exercise Cons: , noisy, repetitive more

jersey mall rat loves it 10/28/2004

i loved it. there were so many shops and so much to see. good shops too. i especially loved this t-shirt shirt shop. i got a very cool oscar the grouch t-shirt. the rides are well-worth a whirl too. they seem thrilling enough for thrill seekers. if you are planning on going to the mall, i would recommend going early because there is so much to see. also, the great thing about minnesota-no sales tax! more

Each time we drift home. 8/27/2003

I grew up in Minneapolis... or the northern suburb of Columbia Heights. We drift home from North Carolina almost every year to visit family still living in the area and never fail to drive over the the BIG Mall of America to spend a couple of hours just hanging out and looking at stuff. GREAT place. LOTS of GREAT shops. more

Mall of America 8/19/2003

What else can you say but a really big mall with lots to do with the whole family. Its a great place to visit in itself, an all day adventure if you choose. Pros: lots of parking, lots of restraunts Cons: its big more

Mall of America 8/9/2003

I bought my prom dress at Mall of America.....We went on a school trip before April and some friends and I went to Debs and bought my prom dress for 39.99.We were from Iowa and then we went back to Iowa and at the Coral Ridge Mall I seen the same dress for 169.99 I was so impressed about the whole thing.I want to come back next year and get my prom dress again. Thanks for having such a good mall God Bless Pros: Good Parking more

only for tourist 7/15/2003

If your from out of sate by all means vist the largest mall in the the United States but its only a once in while vist. I mean when you live 15 mintues away from it and been there like every week it gets old. Personnaly I find it overrated and kind of expensive. Its kind of like living next door to six flags. Its like any other mall beside all the extras like camp snoopy, and the theater, and whatever. I do have to give it that though it is a muti task kind of place and does save time. Pros: free parking, camp snoopy, great for the winter Cons: overcrowed, easy to get loss, expensive more

Great Experience 6/4/2003

I am originally from Calgary, Alberta, Canada and have visited West Edmonton Mall a lot (The World's Largest Mall). This past winter was my first visit to the Mall of America and I was totally impressed. The shops were great, the mall was clean, and it wasn't busy. more
