Great Experience in every aspect 9/4/2006

Being from SF, Asian bistros are a dime a dozen. Made in Kitchen was an absolute exception. I came across this gem when visiting a friend in Seattle. We were walking to the Mariners stadium to watch the Yankees and we passed it by. We decided we would check it out the following evening. The place looked very modern and extremely trendy, so naturally I expected some good grub. \r The following evening we arrived and from the moment we were seated the place immediately surpassed my expectations. Without hesitation we were given piping hot and very fragrent Jasmine tea. We ordered fresh papaya salad and imperial rolls to start. The food was extremely fresh, I imagined a person running to a fresh papaya, shredding it, adding all the condiments, placing it on the plate and rushing it over to our table. It was that fresh. It didn't stop there. We ordered crab with glass noodles, Thai curry duck, and fried tofu with black and white sesame seeds. The food came out hot and all the dishes were very tastey and surprisingly in very large portions. The food was very affordable and the variety of food made it hard for us to chose our dishes. We also ordered something they called Sakelicious. It was sort of a sake cocktail. We ordered peach and plum, very satisfying. The wait staff were attentive and kept our tea and water cups full at all times. Not once did we need to ask for anything. The owners (husband and wife) both came by and chatted with us. They were very welcoming and easy to talk to. Overall an excellent experience . Pros: food, service, prices Cons: full bar on the way more

Asian Bistro...with one type of Asian cuisine. Ironic. 8/24/2006

Why do they call themselves an Asian Bistro, when all they serve is Vietnamese food? Just wondering...\r \r Other than that, I do like the location, and environment. The food's not bad. Nice place to kick it with your friends. Pros: location, environment Cons: parking more

Hip new restaurant seemingly misplaced in International District. 8/13/2006

This restaurant belongs in San Francisco or at least Belltown. It is very hip. I've been here a number of times since it opened and it's definitely on my list of favorites. I just hope others don't discover my secret spot in thus forcing me to wait for a table. Since opening a couple of months ago, the menu has expanded and the foods gets better and better. Definitely worth a try: Imperial rolls (with real CRAB MEAT and served with very fresh veggies!), la lot beef (very authentic), curry duck (get this with the french bread), catfish claypot (mmm!), meatball treasures (with hidden shrimp in the middle), cubed beef (consistently delicious). The ambiance is nice and the bartender is very cute!!! Parking is sometimes trying but go around the block a few times and you'll find one :-). I will definitely be back. Pros: Clean, Hip, Very tasty vietnamese food Cons: Parking can be trying, Closes at 9:30pm more

Excellent Service, Food & Atmosphere! You gotta try it! 8/6/2006

Made in Kitchen must have come a long way since Cam's review. We went to Made in Kitchen for dinner on the weekend. Our immediate impression was that the restaurant was very clean and smartly decorated. Great for a casual date or to bring out-of-town guests for contemporary asian cuisine. The host was prompt and very welcoming. Our server was enthusiastic and new his menu well. Well enough to recommend wine pairings for our menu choices. He was also very helpful with answering our questions about the menu choices. The Cafe Sua Da (iced coffee) was prepared fresh for you so you don't have to wait for it to drip at the table. My lychee drink was delicious and refreshing. For an appetizer we enjoyed fresh spring rolls that were well prepared. We ordered Hai nam chicken and one of the restaurants special vermicelli bowls. The Hainam chicken sauce and was the best I've ever tasted and was delicous with the rice. The chicken itself was very tasty - it would have been perfect if it were not just slightly dry. As for the vermicelli combination bowl, that was my favorite. The spring roll in the vermicelli bowl was an enormous roll of mouth watering goodness with generous amounts of prawn. It was more the size of a burrito than a spring roll. The rest of the dish was well done as well. In Seattle there are lots of places to find Asian food for cheaper prices, but if you are looking to impress a date, out-of-town guests, or co-workers, Made in Kitchen offers the food, service, and atmosphere that wont disappoint. more

Yummy! Highly recommended! 7/25/2006

This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to and I have traveled the world. The atmosphere is great and the food is authentic. Everything is very clean and well presented as well. If you want something different but Asian then this is definitely worth a try - you won't be disappointed. more

Great authentic tasting asian cuisine for all food lovers!!! 7/21/2006

it was almost like entering a new world when I first set foot into the restaurant. The environment was incredible, warm color tones, bamboo schutes from the floor to the ceilings. The quiet music in the background added to the cool vibe of the restaurant. After being seated right away, we ordered at least 5 things on the menu. The imperial rolls, the kitchen special, meatball treasure, curry duck, and asain chicken salad. The food was fantastic in my opinion and the service was great. Not to mention the wine list, along with the different flavored sake. I myself had a peach blossom sake which i thought was incredible, because I had never before tried flavored sake, but I am now a fan. Next time I go back I will be sure to try the lychee flavored sake along with the white sangria, which is not on the wine list, but a special request that can be made specially for anyone. Pros: clean and fun environment Cons: none that I could see more
