MacDinton's Irish Pub

This place is a great bar, and they even have some good food to boot! The crowd is 21 to 35 year olds for the most part, with a peppering of some older folks to keep it interesting. Great Thursday $10 all-you-can-drink special from 6-8pm similar to Whiskey Park, but MacDinton's includes all the great beers they have on tap, and they give you pint glasses to drink. Nice outdoor patio and plenty of room inside as well (live music too!), if you're in your twenties or thirties and haven't been here, then go...go ahead...right now! more

Everytime I'm in Tampa, we end up here. Whether it's a nice night in November and we want to chill to some live music and cruise the meat that is the band (how you doin', bass player?) or we want to just be outside (January, when Chicago is 10 degrees withOUT wind chill) or when my friend wants to show me how she got my airfare for $100 round trip in July (they have MISTERS out on the patio!)*...this place does not disappoint. Love the giant patio here. There's lots of seating and a huge bar outside for easy access to a frosty beverage. There always seems to be something fun going on here, and it's a great place to just relax without being all fancy. No doubt, I'll be back! more

Awesome bar great service lots of fun I have never had a better time at any other bar in Tampa and I've lived here my whole life if you want to have a good time go to macdintons the bartenders are amazing drinks are cheap and well made more

Spent last Saturday at MacDintons and had a great time. I think they have the best fish 'n chips around, my date had the lamb shank and meat tasted great and fell off the bone. The staff were friendly and made us feel at home. It got busier as the night progressed and we headed out of there. more

Went there in 2006 and didn't seem to be a bad place, but revisited again in 2009, what a dissapointment. Food & beer is a let down. The staff are bad mannered and rough. I guess theres a recession and maybe they find it hard to get good employees, or, maybe they don't care as long as theres a stream of kids going in there believing they're in a real Irish pub? I looked at some of the food being served and decided against it. Never again. Pros: Errr, none! Cons: College kids, rough servers. more

This is NOT an Irish Pub. It is a beat up College bar with the stench of regurgitated beer that may - in the past - have been a Pub. My bangers were microwaved sausages. The guiness, must have come out of a bottle, and old one. Ugh.. I understand that many Pubs are beat up, but this is nuts... She may have been a pretty girl in the past, but all the 'mileage' has destroyed her. Stay away.. Unless it is Friday night you are too drunk to care about the food and are interested in picking up drunk 22 year old 'ladies'... Then by all means... I know it near Saint Patricks day and therefore, I don't expect the same quality from any Irish Pub as far as their drink or food is concerned due to the large amount of business that is gererated at this time of year. But for a Sunday early afternoon I do expect food that is semi-decent.\r 1. Guinness should not be served in a plastic cup (sorry I am from Dublin, you just dont serve it that way)\r Now I understand that there was a band playing outside and the management was most likely concerned that some lad would get a little drunk and hurt himself, but I am sitting in a half empty Bar before 6pm at least tell your customers that if you want a glass you can't take it out side.\r 2. The food, and this is my main problem, I ordered corned beef and cabbage-- if you could call it that.\r Has anyone ever eatien beef jerky, well that what this resturant bar would be better off using for their corned beef and forget about the cabbage, maybe they need to advertise for a cook or new supplier of food, on a good point the mashed potatos were not bad.\r End note: I will stick with the Four Green Fields or O'brien for a pint and some grub, I will also try the Dubliner but this place,no thanks.\r 100% Irish Pros: interior and their mashed potatoes Cons: food and guinness in a plastic cup (Gasp!!!) more

I started a tab and they took my ID with my credit card. When I went back later to close my tab, it took forever for the bartender to come back and when he finally did, he came with the manager who told me they'd given my cards to someone else!!!!! The manager wasn't even apologetic about it. My friend and I threw an absolute fit so he finally said he'd make an anouncement with that person's name to see if they were still in the bar. The bartender didn't really realize what he'd done- given a complete stranger more than enough information to steal my identity. Thank god they found the person and got my cards back. I was told that I didn't need to worry and my bill would be taken care of (the least they could do, frankly) but the manager didn't bother to apologize or anything. The next day I checked my account online and sure enough, there was a charge for MacDintons. I'm still working on resolving it. I'd never recommend it but if you do need to go, take cash. All of the tables are the high bar tables and the high chairs are the normal low high chairs. So needless to say the children are eating about a foot down from you, which does not work. My husband orderd a guiness and myself water. The guiness was 5.50 and my water was are you ready 2.00. WHAT!!!! The waitress threw the bill, literally, and when we gave her our card to pay she passed the copy to us as she was walking by, didn't even stop. I wouldn't go back to this place if someone else paid. Somehow, I always end up at this place. Whether it's Thursday night after happy hour in business casual, Friday or Saturday dressed up, or Sunday after a long day of football, I always end up at my soon-to-be gold nameplated seat on the corner of the exterior bar. Thursdays: fun to make fun of karaoke; dollar beers; gets suddenly crowded around 11pm. The good news? You're still welcome if you graduated college 10 years ago. Weekends are definitely crowded, but it's a fun place so live a little! Great music on Sunday outside, and not crowded at all. A must! more
