Sigh - walk across the street to Vegeterrainian 7/16/2010

Came here a few times after moving to Akron. Its mediocre and overpriced at best. I know its a legend and all you NE Ohio folks are SO loyal to your places and points of pride. But really this pizza is mediocre at best. Not that Akron is a hub for great pizza but sheesh. The staff is rude every time which is SO odd for NE Ohi - coming from the East coast a point of true love for Ohio is how friendly polite and helpful people can be. Maybe the place is a tough place to work but it was very hard wach time not to get ""my philly up"" and read some people. Skip it - until they start trying harder. Pros: the legend Cons: The reality - This place is resting on its laurels more

Oh the salad! 7/16/2009

Have been living in germany for several years, but make sure every time I'm back home to stop in ... most of the time with a few non-ohioans in tow. I wear my 'if lost please return to luigis' tshirt with pride, and now a number of my freinds over here understand why! Pros: all the food is great, but epecially the pizza and salad Cons: the crowds at peak times more

not good 5/23/2008

I lived my whole life in akron so i've been to luigi's countless times. The cheese salad is the best. Everything else on menu (and i've had everything) is very ""ok"" and this is how everyone else i know feels also. The meatballs might be the worst I've ever had, and luigi's is famous in Akron ...but it's also famous for making you go straight to the bathroom. more

Food and tradition 5/3/2007

People eat at Luigi's for two reasons: the food and the tradition. As an Akron icon, Luigi's has been a favorite of both locals and tourists for years. The wall is covered with pictures of celebrity diners. The food is amazing. My wife and I have driven far out of our way to swing by Luigi's. And the price is pretty reasonable. Now the bad news: the service is sub-par, waiting for a table can be painful (no lobby), and parking is abysmal (although somewhat better lately). Still, if you're in Akron for the first time, you must try Luigi's. It's practically a requirement! Pros: Great Food, Family-Friendly Cons: Parking, Wait Times, No Lobby more

Yummy salads! 11/22/2006

The salad dressing is simple oil and vinegar yet is so good. Don't bother getting a salad unless you splash out extra for the cheese. The pizza is too crusty for me (I'm a thin crust gal) so sometimes I get the lasagna; it usually takes four or five forkfuls to break through the cheese layer to get to the pasta. Yum. Other times I get perfectly done french fries with a side of mozzarella sticks. Hey, I get a salad too so it's healthy, right? Pros: We go so often the waitress knows our order! Cons: No credit cards but there is an ATM more

The salad is my favorite! 8/27/2006

I have been going to Luigi's since I was a kid. I think some of the waitresses have been there that long! The food is great and inexpensive. They no longer have a smoking section, so the wait isn't as long as it has been in the past. The salad is delicious, although to describe it, it sounds somewhat plain. It is iceberg lettuce, sliced radishes and cheese piled high and dressed with Italian dressing. I dare anyone to try to eat it without having cheese overflow onto the placemat. Excellent bread is served with the salad. The pizza is the thick Sicilian style. I recommend the sausage. O.K...I have to end this. I am making myself hungry! Pros: pizza, salad, price Cons: none that I can think of more

Best pizza 7/26/2006

Visited yesterday for the first time for lunch. The pizza was amazing. It was very crowded but only had to wait a minute for a table. I look forward to returning to try some entrees. Pros: Great Pizza, Deal well with a crowd more

Great overall! 7/14/2004

Alyways seems to be a line to get seated if you are non-smokers. I am a smoker and get seated fast. The line seems to go quite smoothly and quickly for everyone. The raod in front is torn up, so it's not as easy to get to, but well worth the hastle! The food is fabulous! This has become my favorite italian restaurant! Pros: inexpensive, interesting ambiance, fun Cons: , sometimes too crowded more

The best priced big meal in town! 11/7/2002

This place is amazing. The nestalgia is great, the food is served in large portions and tastes great, the prices are low!! What more could you aske for in an Italian restaurant? Come, see, eat, and enjoy!! Pros: Inexpensive, Decent Parking, Big Portions Cons: Crowded more

great after hours 9/29/2002

If you can find it, it's worth every bite! The prices are somewhat high but the homemade bread and their salads are out of this world. If you like cheese and lots of it, just ask for extra on your salad or pizza and see how much you get! Their hand tossed pizza is outta sight and they serve beer and wine too. They are open late until 4am and lots of police hang out there so you feel safe in this somewhat downtown restaurant! Pros: great food, open late, ample portions Cons: out of the way, none, none more
