Editorial review from Citysearch 10/24/2013

I have nothing but positive things to say about Kassab’s at Washington Square. When my then-boyfriend-now-fiancé suggested that we look for an engagement ring, we had practically no idea what ring design we wanted. We started browsing rings at the jewelry stores in the mall, and, as we didn’t want to waste anyone’s time, made sure to mention that we were just starting our search. Of course, we were brushed off at the first store we went to. Kassab’s was the second, and even with our ‘’We’re-just-looking-to-get-ideas’’ spiel, David was more than willing to show us around the glittering cases. David was incredibly gracious, patient, and charming; he did a fantastic job of listening and providing us with options that fit our taste. There was no eye-rolling when we asked things that belonged in ‘’Diamonds for Dummies’’, or exasperated sighs when I asked to see the same rings over and over. After more than two hours and more than a dozen rings later, we found our perfect engagement ring. Never did we ever feel pressured to buy anything or increase our budget. Additionally, he went above and beyond after hearing about our special circumstances. As we live abroad for the majority of the year, our custom ring wasn’t scheduled to arrive until after my boyfriend had left the country (this posed a problem as we weren’t actually engaged yet). David secretly arranged with my boyfriend for our diamond to be quickly set into a temporary setting so that my boyfriend would have a ring to propose with before he left. I had absolutely no idea, and was more than pleasantly surprised when my boyfriend proposed, and with a ring, to boot! Our final setting came in a week earlier than expected, and my diamond took less than a day to be reset into its permanent setting. Since the purchase of my engagement ring and wedding band, we have also taken in some antique jewelry to be appraised and resized. When there was some confusion on my end regarding the process, David took the time to contact me to explain everything even though he was not the salesman to assist me (he wasn’t even working during that shift). Kassab’s has been nothing but stellar with their customer service and they are highly recommended. more

After looking ALL over town and online, we finally found a new diamond wedding set to replace one I had lost. The service we received from Rana Kassab was exceptional. I felt like a valued customer and will definitely buy from them again. It's nice to spend this kind of money locally, too. They have a fantastic selection, custom as well as great designers. A classy store. more

Shoddy Quality 4/17/2009

My husband & I bought his wedding band from Kassab 6 years ago. The ring looked beautiful but last year the white gold borders separated from the yellow gold into 3 separate pieces that snag on my husband's clothing. When my husband took it to them to repair, they told him it would cost around $300 (even thought it is their shoddy workmanship) and that they could offer him a new one, at cost, for approximately $350. The salesman was also very defensive and accusatory about what my husband must have done to the ring. My husband is a banker so it's not like he's out felling trees or using a jack-hammer for his profession. My wedding ring, from a different jeweler, is not falling apart and it is a year older than my husband's ring. My career also involves what Kassab Jewelers considers excessive wear-and-tear...typing on a keyboard. They were fine to deal with when we first purchased but they do not stand behind their work. And their concern for customer service and satisfaction is deplorable when it comes to repairing their shoddy merchandise. Pros: The ring looked beautiful Cons: The ring fell apart more
