Good, heavy Indian 5/3/2006

Kashmir has good Indian food, but not terribly authentic. It is frequently hyped as the best Indian restaurant in Boston. Their take on Indian is very rich - lots of heavy cream and ghee (clarified butter). The interior is really charming, and the location is ideal (smack in the middle of Newbury street). The service is very good, but the prices are on the expensive side for dishes that definitely don't live up to their billing as the "best" Indian in Boston. more

Awesome Indian 4/16/2006

If you're looking for the absolute best Indian food in Boston, then you need look no more. This is it! The food can be a bit on the pricey side for an Indian restaurant. However, it's well worth it. Especially surprising is the selection of beef dishes, so it's obvious that they've catered to Western tastes. However, the do so superbly. Also, check out their weekend buffet. It's twice as expensive as other restaurants', but the quality is totally worth it. more

Consistent quality 4/13/2006

True, the prices are high, but the food tastes good. The buffet's pricey, but it's worth it. Regular entrees are good, but again, expensive. Check out their chef's specials. They're about $20+ and they give you the chance to sample a lot of different foods that you might not otherwise try. One of the specials is enough for 2 people. Their tamarind sauce is unusually thick and very very sweet. I believe during the spring/summer, they have hookah in their outdoor seating area. more

Elegant Indian food 3/26/2006

Stop in for the buffet at lunchtime so you can get a nice sampling of great Indian cuisine. The price used to be $9.99. I imagine it's gone up in the past few years though. Sometimes they're in no rush to refill the stations but don't be shy and ask the waitstaff. The outdoor seating is an added benefit. The food is really great and they make a delicious pistachio shake. more

Indian Restaurant on Newbury 1/13/2006

Kashmir is a pretty good place to go for a casual lunch or something different for dinner in the Back Bay. The service here is okay (pretty good actually when you consider the overall snobbishness of Newbury Street) and the staff will help you understand the menu as well as they can. The food here is incredibly spicy- but not in the traditional hot pepper sense. It's more of a sneaky taste that makes it impossible to finish an entire plate if you're not used to such strong ethnic food. more

Sure, why not 9/29/2005

I went to dinner at Kashmir the other day. Everything seemed fairly typical; the prices were what I expected for both food and drinks, the service was adequate. It had a rather interesting atmosphere, since part of the time they were blasting music and for the rest it was completely silent. The food was very good, and I loved the garlic naan. Overall just your standard Indian place, and conveniently located if you happen to be shopping in the area. more

Kashmir Indian Restaurant 8/20/2005

I have been to Kashmir on quite a few occasions. It is located next to the Copley square area on Newbury street. The cusine isn't the best I've had. They have a nice buffet during lunch time. They are slow to refill the buffet containers at times. The atmosphere is a fairly good one. I think of this place as an average indian restaurant. more
