Caution 11/24/2009

I'm not going to comment on this doctor directly, because I haven't been a patient. However, when I was looking around for a new dentist I never considered Karkalas. The reason is that I've seen many many complaints about her on the grad student listserv at Brown. Therefore I would recommend caution. more

I agree with David B. Dr. Karkalas is very informative and knows what she is talking about. She explained the options I had to remove my silver fillings, but made it perfectly clear that it was only an option. I also received a plan, but was well aware that it was only if I chose to continue treatment. I was very pleased by the way I was treated and the staff was GREAT!!! I now look forward to ALL my dental visits. more

Zoom II whitening 11/6/2005

I went to this office with high expectations and they were met and exceded. Dr Karkalas has a Zoom II whitening system. It was explained to me that this we the second generation of this product and that it would take 45 minutes to whiten my teeth. I was concerned about sensitivity because with the at home system I used in the past I was sensitive to cold . I had no sensitivity with this procedure and my teeth came out even more white than they ever did with the at home systems. I am glad that I chose to do this more

excellent Dentist 11/4/2005

I dont understand the comments from the first poster michelle b. Any add that Dr Karkalas has Says Specializing in Cosmetic Dentistry. I have been a patient of hers for 4 years now and have had the best dental care I have ever had. When I first went to her office I was not kept in the dark. I was given an exam and told everyting that was wrong with options for both regular and cosmetic work. It was explained to me that any cosmetic work would look better if I whitened but it was left up to me nothing was forced on me. I did whiten my teeth and they came out fantastic. Her office is very warm and comfortable with Tv's and some spa features. I would and do recomend this dentist to everyone. A++ Friendly warm caring staff. more

Cosmetic Dentist 8/22/2005

I didn't realize that Dr. Karkalas was a cosmetic dentist. I would only recommend her for that and not as a regular dentist. I just picked her out of a phone book. I got a great cleaning by her assistant. But when she came in, she told me I needed all of my fillings replaced and that my teeth needed whitening. I told her I wasn't interested in whitening my teeth. She pulled out a (fake) yellowed tooth that looked like it belonged to a 90 year old smoker and said that is what my teeth looked like. I again declined, and when I was leaving I was given a list of all that I "needed" to get done, including whitening, and it was a lot of money. I was annoyed that my decision not to have my teeth whitened was ignored. more
