John is a GENIUS! The food was so delicious and what made it even better... it was fun. My husband ordered the Scorpion (soft shell crab and prawns) and the presentation was really a hoot and the taste was even better. My steak, with the peppercorn rub, melted in my mouth. It was best steak I've ever had. For Dessert we ordered John's famous mousse and I have to confess, before it arrived I thought how good can a glorified pudding be? My taste buds were taught a lesson. I will never use the ""P"" word to describe this dessert again. It was in a class by itself. Overall, great night with excellent food! more

Portions are shrinking and prices are climbing. We're frequent diners at John's because we enjoy the ambiance and friendly waitress that seems to hold that place together. But lately corners are being cut that affect the overall service and exclusivity of being that special dining place in Mukilteo it once was. This is the 3rd time we have eaten at John's Grill. It is small and intimate. The menu is not large, but has a good variety. There were four of us and the meals came out at different times with mine being the last to come. My companions were nearly finished with their meals. I believe there was only one wait person and he tried to make up for the slow service by offering me a soup, which I declined. The other three people in our party had the crab and clam chowder and thought it wonderful. The salads were fresh and nicely presented. My husband had the prawns which he liked. I chose the lamb chops which came late, but were prepared well. He did make up for it my giving me a free dessert which was excellent and beautifully presented. I think it was just an off evening for this restaurant because we asked for coffee after dinner and it was almost forgotten. I hope that they improve on the timing of the meals and attend to details. Our meals have always been good, but the wait staff needs some improvement.
