What a hard review to write... My now 20 year old son was charged with statutory rape a year ago for having consensual relations with a girl who was 17 years 9 months! They did not have ""intercourse""! Her father, an evangelical Christian walked in on them, the police were called and charges were filed. A year later, we are just closing this chapter. This has been, by far, the most difficult thing our family has ever faced. We were so concerned he would go to jail and be registered as a sex offender. This has cost us a considerable amount of money, embarassment and stress. Our home is in a different state and to think of our straight A child (having a 3.7 gpa at an out of state university) having to face this alone was almost too much. Thankfully, his advisor contacted us and helped us find Bob Meyers with Jim Newton Law. He made us feel at ease and allowed us to breathe while he dealt with the legal aspects of the case. He was able to plea bargain the case and our son (although counseling will need to be completed) will not be registered as a sex offender and can move forward with his life. Arrested for DUI in December after taking a wrong turn and rolling my truck. Trooper asked if I would blow, after I was on a stretcher being wheeled into the Er and I said ""not now"". Mind you I was strapped to a board! Turns out if you don't blow it's automatic cancellation of your license. My blood test showed .6 but I was arrested for DUI and released at the hospital. Hired Keith at Jim Newton Law four weeks later, after I found out my license had been suspended. At the end I plead to reckless driving and dui charges were dropped. I still have to have the ID on my vehicle for a year and pay for crazy insurance because I refused to blow. Bottom line, if you are asked to blow - just do it! Not blowing is the only way your license can be suspended automatically. I was told that had I blown, this would have been a non issue. At the end of the process, Keith did a great job and kept me in the loop the whole time. None of this is cheap but their prices were in line with what I had been quoted elsewhere - maybe less. I was quoted one price and it ended up coming in about $750 less which was great. more
