Overpriced, well presented, mediocre food 3/3/2011

This place is only half-way good if someone else is footing the bill. The food is WAY over priced, is presented far better than it tastes, but the waiter will practically do everything but chew your food for you. The beer selection is very bad and the steaks are worse as the rub on them is far too salty. Potatoes were good, but that was it. The vegetables were over cooked and nearly flavorless. There is no way I'd recommed this place unless they have money to burn. Too many other better restaurants in Cincinnati to waste time with this one. more

Jeff Ruby's is the best 10/16/2008

My wife and I went to Jeff Ruby's downtown to celebrate her 5 year anniversary being cancer free. I only mentioned the reason for our night out in passing while making reservations. The hostess seated us, then congratulated my wife. The Maitre'd stopped by our table to congratulate my wife. Our waiter was outstanding in his attention to detail. more

still the best steak in town 6/8/2007

it is a bit pretentouis but it more than makes up for it with the steaks and the service. they treat you the same if you are in a tux or very casual. the portions are hugmonious abd everything is a la cart. their 28 oz bone in rib eye is the best flavor i have ever experienced in red meat. I always order the same so i can't speak of other entres. my friends have always been happy with their choices, including the lamb and the dover sole. it is a must if you are in a steak mood!!! JEFF RUBY HAS ALWAYS BEEN A LOCAL HEROS TO ME AS FROM THE FIRST TIME I HEARD OF HIM STEPPING FOWARD TO HELP THIS PERSON OR THAT FAMILY. THEN WHEN THE POOR KID THAT WORKED AT ONE OF HIS PLACES WAS MURDERED HE STEPPED RIGHT UP AND OFFERED A REWARD. NOW TO TOP IT ALL, AND PUT A DOUBLE MURDER IN HIS PLACE, WHEN MOST PEOPLE PROBALY STILL KISS UP TO HIM AND FEED HIS EGO. WHAT YOU DID WAS THE RIGHT THING AND THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT MOST PEOPLE WOULD HAVE DONE, SINCE YOU COULD'VE LET HIM EAT AND MADE ALL THAT EXTRA MONEY FROM HIS PARTY OF PEOPLE. I'M JUST A NOBODY COLLEGE STUDENT FROM NORTHERN KENTUCKY AND WILL PROBALY NOT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO EVEN EAT AT YOUR RESTAURANT ANYTIME SOON, BUT I AM GOING TO RECOMMEND ALL YOUR PLACES TO EVERYBODY I COME ACROSS. Damn Good Place to Eat and Be Scene 7/26/2006

This steakhouse has wonderful scenery and it's a great place to go for socializing. I've seen Jerry Springer there, as well as other Bengal football players. As for the food, it's to die for. The Lump Crabmeat is the best appetizer there, in my opinion. As for dinner, you can't go wrong with any of the choices and their proportions are plentiful. Any of the steaks is awesome. Last, but not least, you will not be disappointed in the hostess staff nor the bartenders. ENJOY!!! Pros: Quality of food, drinks, and environment keeps me coming back Cons: The only drawback is that the food is not cheap more

Best King Crab in Cincy! 7/9/2006

For someone who doesn't eat steak, I was wary about going to Jeff Ruby's for the first time. However, the other menu items are absolutely delicious - the crab legs and sides are amazing. The service is always exceptional and the bar scene is great with live music. It is a delight to eat at Jeff Ruby's and well worth the money. Pros: menu, service, live music Cons: expensive more

One of the best steaks in the country... 1/13/2003

And one of the best restaurants I've been too. The food is excellent and the ambience is off the charts (you feel like your in the Great Gatsby). While the food is a little pricy, it's well worth the splurge for a very special occassion. The staff is helpful and attentive and the music gently trickling out of the lounge adds the finishing touch. Also a great place to go for a drink before or after a show at the Arnoff Theater. more

Top of the heap! 1/13/2003

Jeff Ruby's has risen to the top of the heap. I used to be a regular patron of another downtown steakhouse but Jeff Ruby's has taken over my business. Now that Mr. Ruby has John as the Maitre d', it is even better. The food is simply fantastic, the winelist very complete. The waiters are excellent, very attentive and very professional. There is an occasional mix-up (no pun intended) in that my wife likes her whiskey sours ""up"" and even though it is served in a tall wine glass (nobody has real sour glasses anymore)it usually has to be returned to the bartender to have the ice removed. Now we order it ""without ice."" more

Not worth the money. 1/3/2003

I was not impressed with the food. Maybe, my expectations where to high. The steak was over cooked, I ordered medium and it came out medium well and a dry medium well. I would not recommend this restaurant for the steak. Out of the three steaks ordered at my table none meet the customers satisfaction. more

From their top-rate filet to the tasty seafood, everything was excellent. Side dishes were exceptional and the steak-shaped mousse dessert was a hoot, as well as delicious. Pros: Best meal in Cinci, Great service Cons: Very pricy more

Top quality steak in a good setting. Waiter was trying a little too hard to earn the tip. Saturday night it seemed to attract the unattached and well heeled 30 somethings - good entertainment! more

Excellent Spot 7/2/2002

While visiting Cincy on business, went to Jeff Ruby's for dinner with co-workers. What a delight! Excellent cocktails were followed up by an outstanding steak dinner. Our server was excellent and provided us with insight on his personal favorites. Excellent overall dining experience. I will be back to Jeff Ruby's again! more
