Hoppin' place for dim sum! 1/4/2010

I'm from out of town, and as a lover of dim sum, I insisted my hosts take me to the best place in town. They're still new here too, but had heard great things about this place on Citysearch. We were not disappointed! We arrived starving, and had to put our names on a waiting list... after what seemed like forever, but was probably only 20 min, we were seated. As soon as we sat down, the dim sum carts converged. Piles of yumminess delivered within seconds. Favorites were the eggplant with shrimp, the honey walnut shrimp, and the sticky rice. They even have Shanghai soup dumplings! (A little too spare on the soup, for my taste, but still good) We left over-full, but very satisfied. Fairly cheap, too. Five of us ate for about $60, and we even had leftovers. Pros: Great dim sum, fabulous selection Cons: Very busy more

Great place for dim sum 10/3/2009

This is a very busy place on Sunday so get there early. It is my boyfriends favorite place for dim sum, and my second. It is almost always fresh and hot, but there are those odd ball times when some of the food is cold, usually on a weekday though. The restaurant is small which means it gets packed, but it also means the carts come around a lot. I have never felt like I was waiting for food here. I have had dirty dishes a few times, and the place is a bit dingy and dirty looking, but I don't really care because I have never found anything funky in my food and I have never gotten sick. Pros: good food, nice staff, nice price Cons: long waits, more

Delicious Dim Sum! 3/19/2009

I've never had a bad experience here. This is one of the best places for dim sum in the city that I've had. Always fresh and well prepared. I don't think you can rip on their service, as its a busy place and they aren't really trying to provide world class customer service, just tasty food. Go early if you go on Sunday or you'll never get a seat (maybe unless there are only two of you). craack. f-u city search. I can't believe you won't let me use that word! (minus that extra ""a"") Pros: Best lo mai gai more

Spectacular Food!-READ THIS! 10/12/2008

Okay people. We are new here and read the reviews below and were just a little apprehensive but, we went anyway. We have also had the 'dim-sum' experience in numerous 'China Towns' all over the US and London-some good, some bad. SO...Listen up! The negative reviews listed below are just being nit-picky and obviously have little to no experience in dim sum' dining! The food at Jade Garden was so spectacular, fresh and tasty we could not believe it based off of the reviews here. We were seated quckly (lunch on Friday) and the entire wait staff was courteous and quick to help us fill our table with the delights we wanted. If it wasn't on the cart, they went and found it and brought it to the table! We had one teacup with crusted food on the edge, I asked for another one-who's dishwasher doesn't do this occassionaly? Big deal. Dim-sum requires basic tolerance (because anyone who eats good Chinese food knows to go wherever they go), understanding on how the carts work and time of the day as well as seeking out what you want. What American doesn't understand that! Go! Enjoy! and be sure to give the wait staff your best manners and see what you get back! This will be a regular place for us! Superb dim-sum! Pros: The Dim-Sum! Cons: Typical International Restaurant: Atmosphere/Cleanliness-Bathrooms were better than expected more

Good Food, Dirty Dirty Place 6/6/2008

The food was really good, but when we recieved dishes they were crusted with food on it and my cup was as well. So I had ask for another. Service was bad, I guess because it was so busy. Pros: Good Dim Sum Cons: Dirty dishes and dirty tables more

Awesome Dim sum 5/13/2008

The dim-sum here is really good! Much better than the ones just a block away. I like how there is carts coming by all the time. There is a large selection, especially for shrimp dishes. The wait on the weekends can be over 20 minutes but its well worth it. They should really remodel their entrance because of the dirty fish tank or give their customers a pager so they wont overcrowd the front entrance. Pros: parking Cons: good food more

great dim sum 2/24/2008

We waited 20 minutes on a weekend, not bad. The dim sum is above average and they offer you several kinds of tea. I find that very cool. Of course since everything has pork and shrimp in it you really can?t go wrong. Stay away from the turnip cakes they taste fermented in the bad way. Pros: fast service great flavors Cons: parking more

Good prices, nice people, but appearence leaves something to be desired. 2/10/2008

I will preface my review with the following info: I did not get the chance to have dim sum here, as I was only doing takeout. With that said, take this review for what it is worth! My girlfriend and I were walking around the International District one night in search of some good chinese BBQ or the like, when we stumbled upon a place that was NOT the Jade Garden. After waiting to be seated for a few minutes, we saw a rodent scurry across the platform where they were setting prepared food... So we scurried out of there and found the Jade. Pros: House chow mein and the people! Cons: The fish tank and general cleanliness of the front entrance area. more

better than average dim sum, lousy service and dirty 10/26/2007

First of all, it was difficult to find parking. Once inside, the food was not bad. However, the restaurant was very dirty. They stacked dirty dishes and leave them right in front of the customer. The waiter was inattentive. It seems they only cared about chinese customers and ignored other. The food definitely was not worth the hassle. Would not return. more

Go here and have a great time! 8/2/2007

Go here and have an awesome dim sum experience! They take reservations, but the place is huge and has enough turnover that you won?t have to wait too long anyway. They have giant tables for big groups, smaller tables are also available and you can sometimes share tables with another group. Great food, plenty of options and the wait staff are VERY nice to everyone. The food is excellent with plenty of fried items, meat, tofu and healthier steamed options. There are always carts going through with fresh food to pick from. The price is very reasonable ? it?s tough to spend more than $10 per person. It?s a great value! more

Best Dim Sum 6/28/2007

The only question I have to ask is, why don't they have their own parking lot? If you try parking at the other two dim sum places on the same block and start walking towards Jade Garden some waiter or waitress will usually come out yelling at you. I usually end up parking in the parking lot up underneath the I5 bridge ($3 /hr). I also recommend making a reservation about 20 or 40 minutes before going, it's especially busy around lunch time. They stop serving dim sum around 3:00pm and usually start running out of food before 2:00pm. If it's any Chinese holiday just make a reservation either a day or a week before (I'm not sure if they hold them for that long) or just give up because the place is usually packed, even if it's not a holiday. The service varies from time to time. Sometimes they'll be so busy that no food will pass your table for a few minutes. Other times you'll be served mountains and mountains of food, and very good food of course ( I highly recommend the dragon shrimp, even though it's the most expensive item on the menu, about $5 I think). This place is perfect for group lunches. We usually come with a party of 6 - 9 people. Mostly every dish comes in servings of 3, but a couple can get by if they know how to share, and it's even okay to go alone because then you get all the food for yourself ( I see people do it). I've never been disappointed with the bill either. It's always a reasonable price. Pros: excellent food, great for groups, chinese food Cons: long waiting list, crowded, no parking more

BEST DIM SUM - BY FAR - IN SEATTLE!! 4/28/2007

I've tried Dim Sum all through the International District of Seattle, as well as Beacon Hill and Bellevue's several Dim Sum restaurants. NEVER had I had Dim Sum anywhere that seemed much better than other places....not until the JADE GARDEN!! This was by far, the best Dim Sum I've ever eaten. And, I've been there many times. It's ALWAYS the same...FANTASTIC, AND ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Pros: Best Dim Sum in Seattle - BY FAR!! Cons: There are none! more

Great for groups. GREAT DIMSUM! 2/16/2007

I?ve eaten here dozens of times; most of them were after late nights of getting wasted. Like a few other China Town restaurants this place is open very late on Fridays and Saturdays until 4 or 5AM. The service is typical for Chinatown (inattentive to so-so). The environment is average, and can get a little messy with all the crowds flowing through. Pros: Dim sum, Late Friday & Saturday hours, Good for Groups Cons: Inconsistent service more
