Jacob Javitz Center 6/25/2006

The Jacob Javitz Center has always been an interesting place to go with the family. Not only is it huge and has lots of space they usually have interesting events going on. One time I took my family to see a travel exhibition they were having. It was a lot of fun. You can usually check their website to see the kind of events they will be having over the following months. more

Hi Jacob 3/27/2006

Jacob Javitz Center is where you go in New York when there's a big convention happening. They are always have some kind of big convention that's either for private practices or open to the public but you will have to check their website to see what's happening in the upcoming months. The place is huge and very clean and so easy to get lost in. Those giant windows can also be kind of intimidating. Especially during a hard rain or thunderstorm more

So far West... 3/12/2006

I have only been to the Javits for the auto show, but feel like I have been there countless times after listening to all of my friends rant about taking the LSAT there. Depending on the event hosted at the Javits, the environment will change greatly (like the fact that I couldn't get into Comic Con due to space constraints). Plan ahead. The Javits is far west. You don't want to be turned away or get caught in a long line (they happen frequently for some of the more popular events) because of poor transportation planning. Visit the website and see if the convention you are going to is offering transportation from Penn, Grand Central or the Port Authority (it happens sometimes). Come with friends. It is a big lonely place if you are by yourself. Eat before you go there or bring a snack. more

Conventions galore 10/30/2005

When you think convention Jacob Javitz comes to mind. The place is huge. It's totally surrounded by giant sparkling windows. There's lots of space and all the big conventions are held here. They have year round conventions that if you're interested in attending you can look on the Javitz website to see what's being held this month. If you love freebies alone attend one of their conventions. more

Jacob K. Javits Center is New York City's largest and busiest convention center located on West 34th Street on Manhattan's west side. Designed by I.M. Pei and partners and built in 1986, it is named for New York United States Senator Jacob Javits, who served in the U.S. from 1957?1981, and is operated and maintained by the New York City Convention Center Operating Corporation. Each year the 675,000 sq. ft. Javits Center hosts dozens of major fairs, tradeshows, and conventions, bringing together thousands of companies, trade organizations, retailers, and other business professionals from all over the globe. Events such as The International Boat Show, the East Coast MACWorld Expo, The New York International Art Expo, and The National Retail Federation Trade Show, among others take place here every year featuring the latest technologies, products, and developments in a wide spectrum of industries and cultural areas. From corporate meetings to product launches to entertainment events the Jacob Javits Center can accommodate groups as small as 10 people and as large as 3000. With 100 meeting rooms, a theater hall and three unique special event venues the NYCCCO can meet virtually any event requirements. In addition it is important to note that the Jacob Javits Center's revolutionary space frame structure is a New York City tourist attraction in and of itself and well worth visiting during a stay in the city.

Some think it's a postmodern crystal palace, and some think it's a postmortem of resources, time and taste gone haywire. Everyone seems to agree, however, about its size and...
