Best

One of the best restaurants in the city. ALWAYS good for pickup, delivery, or eating in the restaurant. I like the chef recommendations.

I've lived in the carribean and have lived on Costa Rica. I don't see what chicagoans flock to this place. It has character someone says. Sure, if character is what you describe t...

You know you want to try it 6/22/2006

Costa Rican? I'd be the type to go in on curiosity alone. But even the most wary won't be disappointed. This tiny building off Millwaukee has a wide and exotic selection. I tried the Tostones con Mojo, fried plantains with a chopped garlic sauce. Unique, but I'm not rushing back for a repeat visit. I bet it gets a lot of business from us curious folk. Still, stop on by -- Costa Rican just might be your flavor. more

Great Burritos 3/6/2006

I thought the burritos, especially their signature vegetarian burrito was delicious. The quaint, intimate atmosphere at Irazu is great for dinner. I also found their gallo pinto to be excellent. The service was very kind as was the host who greeted us, who I guess was the owner. I suggest trying out many of the tasty and delightful options found on Irazu's menu. I didn't have one, but their oatmeal shakes are reportedly fabulous. Keep in mind this small business takes cash only! more

Great Costa Rican restaurant 9/9/2005

I come here several times a month. You cannot beat the steak sandwiches here and they are cheap to boot. But, the other things on the menu are great also. This place is BYOB and make sure you have cash. They don't take any other type of payment. more

Great inexpensive food, something different. 8/26/2005

Irazu has been one of my favorite restaurants in the city since the first time I've been there. The prices are extremely reasonable, and it's BYOB which is always nice. Try the traditional Costa Rican meals, such as gallo pinto with eggs and plantains. Their sandwiches and burritos are extremely good as well. They also have great fruit shakes, and their oatmal shake is a specialty. Casual, pretty small place, it's usualy busy. Cash only. more
