walking distance to disneyland 6/1/2010

We stayed at the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel last year in the Fall when visiting the Magic Kingdom. The hotel is located right by hwy 5. I thought we might have a lot of noise from the freeway, but did not. The hotel is close walking distance to the Disney Parks. The rooms are clean. more

looking for a nice hotel on a family budget? Check the hojo! 3/29/2010

A couple months ago I got the chance to stay at the Howard Johnson in Anaheim (aka the Hojo). Yes it?s the one on Harbor Blvd across the street from Disneyland next to Mimi?s Café. As a first time Hojo guest I was surprised with how super duper clean and classy the rooms were, and it wasn?t just the rooms, the grounds were clean and well maintained as well! The staff was very accommodating with my needs, not that I had many. I checked in quick, paid only $85.00 dollars for the night (and that was the discount with my Disneyland Annual Pass). As for my stay? it was awesome and I was only 8 min. from Disneyland. I was able to get a ground floor room with a balcony. I felt like i was in paradise, and so the first day/night I was in the room I sat outside on the balcony in a chair and listened to the bell on the Disneyland train and the horn from the Monorail?well I could hear it every 5 min.! In a nutshell, the Hojo is the best hotel for anybody?s budget. I consider it a great pl more

That night I relaxed in the most comfy pillow top bed I have ever been in and watched the free movie channels. This is a great family hotel--the kids pool area rocks!! Pros: LOVED the rooms Cons: wished i was a kid inorder to play on water slide! more

If you can't afford Disneyland Hotel, then go to HoJo's! 11/2/2005

This hotel came highly recommended by some friends when I decided to make a little impromptu trip to Disneyland. We were very pleasantly surprised to find a room that comfortably slept 5 (there was a rollaway in the closet). The walk to Disneyland was probably just as long as if you were staying at Paradise Pier, because you don't walk through Downtown Disney to get to the maingate if you're staying at HoJo's. There is a Mimi's Cafe, a McDonald's and a Millie's Cafe next to the hotel. There are two swimming pools and you can purchase your Disneyland tickets at the hotel instead of standing in line at the Park. The rooms were spacious and clean. Water pressure in the showers were adequate. If I can't get into one of the Disney properties at a decent price, this is where we stay. They accept Entertainment Card and AAA card for discounts, so call and they will do whatever they can to get you the best rate possible. Some rooms have microwaves, some have a view of the fireworks, some are su more

Home away from home 9/14/2005

Howard Johnson is a group of low- and high-rise buildings set among pleasant grounds and landscaping. There are two pool areas, one of which includes a foot-deep kiddie pool and lots of little fountains to run through. The rooms are clean and well-maintained. There are only two suites but many connecting rooms. All rooms have a mini-fridge and coffee maker; many have microwave ovens. There is no restaurant within the hotel, and thus no room service. But Mimi's, located across the street, is a virtual extension of the hotel. Food there is reasonably priced and much tastier than most coffee shops, and the New Orleans theme is great prep for Pirates of the Caribbean. more

Good Price 8/1/2005

Cheap Prices and clean rooms. Not a bad walk from Disneyland. Our room overlooked the pool and unless the window was open you could still not hear the kids yelling downstairs. A good staff compliements this hotel too. more

Comfortable stay at low cost 7/20/2005

Hotel is within walking distance to Disneyland (about 10 minute walk) as well as local restaurants. Beds are comfy, rooms are clean, staff are friendly and will take the effort to make your stay enjoyable. Two outdoor pools, hot tub, child splash pool and cute spray ground. Good selection of products in the convenience store on site. Great rates available thru various fan web sites as well as calling directly for Entertainment book rates. NO room service but you can call ahead and pick up Mimi's yummy food to go or have pizza delivery. more
