Hopkins Pet Hospital

Wonderful Vet. We have taken our loved 11 year old Golden retriever to Dr. Bloom since he was a puppy. He now has cancer which was confirmed by the EP Emergency vet. Dr. Bloom has been in contact with me the entire time to discuss our options even when that option is taking him somewhere else for treatment. more

Do NOT take any pet to this vet. Dr. Spong, the owner, used to be a great vet. Unfortunately, he is either very old now and relies on his insensitive and clueless staff as well as his horrible partner, Dr. Bloom, too much,l or he has just stopped caring about animals placed in his care. I have had quite a few pets suffer as a result of my relying on this vet and this clinic. Take your pet anywhere but here!!! more

Dr. Spong is the best out there. As an animal law attorney, I have seen some of the best and worst in vet care from around the country. Dr. Spong is at the top of my list. He's compassionate, caring, gentle and honest - and my 4 dogs absolutely love him. In fact, when my husband and I relocated to DC for 2 years, we would schedule our vet visits during our trips back to MN, so the dogs could continue seeing Dr. Spong. He is gold-star all the way! more

Dr. Spong and Hopkins Pet have taken care of all our pets for over 30 years. You will walk out of every appointment feeling like you have the most amazing cat/dog that he has ever met. He still talks about the dog that I had in 2nd grade 30 years ago and remembers her by name. I wouldn't consider taking my dogs anywhere else. Everyone there is amazing. more

I LOVE Spong. He is a wonderful vet. I swear sometimes it seems like he is more interested in talking about my dogs than I am. The care there is pricey, but Spong is always interested in exploring all options, and often advises to go the cheaper route. He shows true compassion and makes it obvious every visit that he truly cares for your animals ( he will remember a small detail you told him about one of them 6 months ago!) He is also very competent- where other vets I've been to have brought in assistants to help draw blood, give shots, etc, he is always able to do these things himself and in a way that does not stress the animals out at all (one of my dogs is very sensitive and has become wary of other vets, but he trusts Spong because he is so gentle and calm). I can really say that I trust this vet with my dogs' lives. I don't think you could find a better vet than Spong. The one problem with Hopkins Pet Hospital is the receptionists out front. Dr. Spong, Gwen and the folks at HPH took care of my dog Bella for 15 years. I have never had more faith in a doctor than Dr. Spong. He spent a lot of time and attention on my dog, answering all my sometimes crazy questions patiently and knowledgeably. He was especially loving and empathetic with her and made sure I never left with an unanswered question. Their prices were reasonable and they worked with me on big bills. Bella passed away July 8th (I was a basket case) and they were very caring and generous with their time and attention. I wouldn't bring my next dog anywhere but there. Thanks guys - you were great! And Debbie H - your review is ridiculous - in 15 years my dog never got sick and the place was never once dirty. They were always organized. You either confused this place with another or you are batshit insane. more

My family and I have been taking our pets to Dr Spong at Hopkins Pet Hospital since the late 60's. Even though it is a bit of a drive for me now, I have full faith in Dr Spong and wouldn't go anywhere else. He spends a lot of time with each animal and family and makes everyone feel like their pet is his most important patient. He is very practical in his advise ( doesn't automatically recommend the most expensive treatment options). Great bedside manner! I will be sad if and when he finally decides to retire. more

I can attest to having the group at Hopkins Pet Hospital taking care of my dogs for 20 years.\r \r They have always been compasionate, caring, and capable when handling my dogs whether they were boarding, ill, or just in for their annual check ups.\r \r My last dog passed away 8 months ago and I am just getting ready to adopt another one. I wouldn't even consider going anywhere but Hopkins Pet Hospital for veterinary care.! more
