• Milwaukee Magazine has repeatedly listed Attorney Arthur Heitzer among its “Best
Lawyers” in the employment field, and he also was named among “Wisconsin Super
Lawyers” (2005). Since 1975 he successfully litigated non-competition and other
employment contracts. Heitzer advised & negotiated a wide range of employment
and housing discrimination issues, representing employees in both the private
and public sectors.

Attorney Heitzer won significant victories in some very difficult areas of
discrimination where few cases have prevailed, such as discrimination based on
criminal conviction and alcoholism. He represented victims in two of the most
publicized cases of alleged employment harassment in southeastern Wisconsin and
has appeared on national television, including the Oprah Winfrey Show. Employees
he represented won record settlements against Milwaukee Public Schools. With
Atty. Brenda Lewison, Heitzer won the first reported finding of illegal
harassment based on sexual orientation in Wisconsin. They also won a federal
court case which found that the State of Wisconsin’s anti-discrimination agency
illegally discriminated against a key employee based on his race.

Attorney Heitzer has lectured and chaired numerous programs and was invited by
the UWM Departments of Sociology and Africology to design and teach courses on
“The Relationship between the Black Liberation and Labor Movements,” and on “The
Constitution and African-Americans.”

He and Atty. Lewison have been honored by the Wisconsin Employment Lawyers
Association and by the 7th Circuit Section of the National Employment Lawyers
Association, and many other recognitions.

Attorney Brenda Lewison joined the Law Office of Arthur Heitzer in April 2006,
having been in practice since 1995. Since graduation from law school, Ms.
Lewison has primarily worked representing individuals in employment
discrimination cases and other employment-related matters. Notable cases include
Najieb, et al. v. Bardes Products, Inc.(federal court litigation over race
discrimination and retaliation with jury verdict in favor of plaintiffs),
Schroeder v. Hamilton School District, et al.,(federal court litigation over
sexual orientation discrimination under federal law), Boles v. Candy II, Inc.,
d/b/a Eve,(state court litigation over race discrimination in public
accommodations with court decision in favor of plaintiff).

Ms. Lewison is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association and the
National Lesbian & Gay Lawyers Association.
