Best

Not much to say except they offer fast service, the Pho has great flavors, the place is kept clean which you don't see at many Pho shops, and prices are reasonable.

Worst

I went to Got Pho for the first time after reading some positive reviews. I was really ready to like this place but was extremely disappointed. Unfortunately the broth was way to...

Editorial review from Citysearch 7/28/2013

This place is still open, and it's not obvious how to report to Citysearch that it is wrong, but I tried. more

Was my favorite 11/10/2010

I've been eating here and loving it for the last couple of years but in the last few months the chargrill pork that brought me here (based upon reviews and friend recommendations) and kept me coming back has changed. It's like they've stopped seasoning it and it seems that they're cooking it in an entirely different way (maybe a microwave?). The amazing char flavor is gone and has been replaced by a bad sweetness. Too bad. I really loved the place. The soup is still excellent. Just wish they wouldn't have ruined the pork. more

Best vermecelli ever 11/17/2009

I've been a Bun conisseur for 15 years and this is the best I've ever had. \r \r If you haven't had it before, Bun is a bowl of cold vermecelli noodles on top of salad ingredients, topped with hot charbroiled meat. Got Pho used only the freshest ingredients, and the pork was unbelievably good. Huge portion for a low cost, but the quality was worth a lot more. The owner warned me it would take longer because they special cook the pork to order, but it came pretty quickly. You can also get Bun with other ingredients like shrimp skewers or egg rolls. Bun isn't even their speciality--in fact I don't think it's on the menu--so their Pho must be unbelieveable.\r \r The inside ambiance was great (except for being next door to a Pizza Hut) and it looks like they have a great patio for warmer weather. \r \r Overall: worth driving across town--or two towns--for this quality of Vietnamese food. YUM! Pros: best pork vermecelli, big portions, good prices, ambiance Cons: next door to Pizza Hut more

Traditional Vietnamese Pho! 10/19/2009

The broth is amazing. It has the depth that you can only find in Vietnam. I'll say it again, it was amazing. Also, BBQ pork rolls will knock your socks off. Go Here! Pros: Complex layered broth with excellent sides. Cons: You're full before you can try more things. more

""BEST SOUP IN TOWN 10/16/2009

Been coming here for four years now. A friend at work tuned me on to this place. I have been to many pho places but to me this is the best soup, best salad rolls, sandwiches, best charbroiled pork anything in metro area!!!!!!!!! Pros: Best broth in town by far! Cons: to far from my house more

Great Salad Rolls! 9/18/2009

I came for the Pho, but stayed for the char-broiled pork salad rolls. Very delicious. Also good selection of rice and noodle dishes in addition to Pho. Good broth, good choice of ingredients. And I like that they always bring a hot spot of tea. Pros: Pho is excellent; many other good choices more

You will Feel Better ! 8/10/2009

Friendly and patient staff eagerly tend to customers needs and wants. Every time I walk in I always enjoy the amusing conversations with the lead staff. I usually order pho to go and when I arrive my food is always piping hot and ready. I have been eating pho here at ""Got Pho?"" for around 2 years now and the service and delicious food has never wavered. Got Pho? is a very consistent, clean and reliable source of Vietnamese food in Southeast Portland..I give it ten thumbs up !!! Pros: PROS: Best Pho in Oregon ! Cons: CONS: That the recipe is a secret ! more

Cheap Food, Clean Place & Great Broth 4/26/2009

This place is near Laurelhurst but on a part of Sandy that few people walk by and most zoom by in their car. It is right near the overpass of Sandy of I-84. It has great parking though, so if you find it you are set. The broth was the most flavorful commercial Pho I have ever had. For $7 I got so much soup I could not finish it all and I am a big eater. It was very clean for an Asian restaurant; not white table cloths, but what do you expect for the price of a fast food meal? The waitress was very polite. This is a much healthier and almost as fast option to a Big Mac meal. Pros: location, cleanliness, price, taste Cons: not the best location more

Catchy name and good food 5/30/2008

I ate here for the first time a couple years ago. I had tried Pho Van once before but it was expensive and I wasn't impressed, other than the way it was decorated. When I got to Got Pho, the atmosphere was relaxed. There was soft Vietnamese music playing in the background. There decor wasn't over the top. I didn't feel intimidated. I ordered Special Pho, which was quite large and flavorful. It took a lot to finish it. They served it with fresh basil, bean sprouts and other things (including peppers) that enhanced the soup at the table. I enjoyed it very much.\r \r On a trip back I tried their stir fry. The lemon chicken stir fry is wonderful. It is a more moist stir fry than maybe a Japanese or other Asian stir fry. But the flavor just popped. So I added that to my ""top 10"" of favorite dishes. I have to say I enjoyed it more with noodles than with rice. But I think that is personal preference.\r \r On another trip back there I decided to try the fried rice. I ate that with some spring rolls and it was great. It wasn't all dried out like they used old leftovers to make it. It was fluffy and the taste was out of this world. \r \r I tell all my friends about Got Pho. The ones who have taken my advice and gone there on their own have been impressed and most are regular customers now. That should say something about a restaurant. If people come back regularly, they must be doing something right.\r \r Pros: Good food served hot. Friendly service. Not overly crowded with tables. Cons: None. more

I don't like Pho but I like this place 5/30/2008

OK, I have to admit, I was dragged to this place even though I was not a fan of Vietnamese food. I reluctantly scanned the menu sure I wouldn't find anything I would like. My friends just love Pho so I was outvoted. \r \r I ordered a char-grilled pork and grilled shrimp skewers (I think it is R21) served with rice and really awesome minced green onion and garlic sauce on top. I took it upon myself to add some soy sauce. This dish was great! And healthier than what I would normally have ordered at, say a Chinese place. The pork was grilled to perfection. The edges all charred and full of flavor. Wow. It was great. \r \r My friends also ordered some spring rolls. They were really good too. Different than the type ordered at a Chinese restaurant but really good flavor and super hot. The skins were really crispy and not mushy. \r \r This place has enough choices that you'll find something good even if your Pho loving friends drag you along begrudgingly. Pros: A lot of selection. Everything is served fresh. Quiet atmosphere. Clean. more

Great Pho And The Menu Selection Offers Something For Everyone 5/30/2008

This Pho is so fresh. I especially enjoy it when I'm feeling a little ""green in the gills"" and need a pick me up. I have not had this good of Pho at any other Vietnamese place. My wife doesn't enjoy soup of any kind so she chooses from the rest of the menu and has never been unhappy with her choice. \r \r I am surprised at the negative comments made by some of the other reviewers. This place is a great find and conveniently located. I cannot complain about the pricing either. This is one of the least expensive places I have eaten and been pleased with the food. \r \r I have never had any issues with the service I've gotten there. I do have to say though, the food is HOT when it reaches your table so please use caution before you shovel that first bite in your mouth. If you have kids, you probably should do a test bite first to make sure it isn't boiling hot. But that just means it hasn't been sitting around and it is fresh.\r \r Next time you want fresh Vietnamese cuisine, give this place a try. It's great. Pros: Pricing and Taste more

Excellent fresh food, Clean environment, Family friendly, Great pricing... 5/30/2008

I have never had any of the bad experiences some of these people are talking about. Consistently (and I go usually once a week) I have fresh, top quality food with no service difficulties and no complaints about the cleanliness of the high chairs. My family of 5 usually orders 1 special soup - enjoyed by my husband, 1 kids soup - the personal favorite of my 7 year old, 1 - #24 which my 3 year old relishes and leaves plenty to have for another meal at home, 1 order of spring rolls - which is what my coming 2 year old will savor in lieu of a traditional meal (think easy finger-food once it has cooled off) and I order my personal favorite - the beef stir fry with cabbage and broccoli served with pad thai noodles. \r \r I have always admired the cleanliness of the restaurant from its grand opening. I cannot say the same for other restaurants I dine at fairly regularly - like the Greek Cusina downtown or more than a handful of Chinese restaurants. I don't have to break out the antibacterial wipes and clean the high chair for myself at Got Pho. \r \r The pricing of the menu items at Got Pho are exceptionally good. I can feel good about my purchases there. After all, with a good sized family to feed, the bill adds up just in the quantity we have to order to feed everyone. We simply can't afford overpriced food and Got Pho doesn't break the bank. \r \r After reading some of the other reviews, I have to wonder if perhaps they are written by the competition or maybe they are simply people with a chip on their shoulders. I have never had a less than positive experience at Got Pho and my family members aren't that easy to please. \r \r Next time you find yourself in NE, swing by the place and view the shiny, colorful menu full of traditional Vietnamese delights as well as some wonderful not-so-traditional treasures. You'll be glad that you decided to go in and judge for yourself. Pros: Freshness of Food, Taste, Pricing, Family Friendly Cons: Somewhat limited parking if it gets busy more

In a city full of soup maybe you want something a little better than the norm 5/26/2008

I eat Pho at least 3 times a week. Frequenting the major Pho houses in P-town for just under a decade now, I can say I appreciate much of what I find in our great cities' many Pho options. Got Pho stands out from the crowd in a couple of major ways and i'll tell you why.... \r 1. Goi Cuon Thit Nuong (in fact anything containing the House Special Chargrilled Pork)\r This flavor cannot be had anywhere else. Marinated and seasoned to perfection with peppers, sweet dried onion, lime and cilantro and probably a ton of cool stuff i've never heard of. This pork has changed my life. I've turned at least 50 people onto this one meat and I would hazard to say this may be the single most amazing thing to happen to the most perfect of all proteins... ever...EVER!\r 2. Broth... anywhere you go it'll always be different right? We all know this and that's part of the fun of trying new Pho joints....each family has their own product. This particular noodle house focuses a lot of energy on getting the soup just right. Immediately there are hints of Anise and Spearmint, charred onion and sweet ginger, . The first thing I notice about the soup at Got Pho is the major overtone of Cinnamon. Copious amounts of clean and white sprouts, Large perfectly fresh Thai Basil and the often overlooked in PDX Pho (possibly because it's somewhat pricey) Ngo Gai (prickly/thorned cilantro), Full quarters of lime and a stack of fresh jalapeno add whatever you need to the already wonderful soup. Another thing that sets Got Pho apart from the rest?..... Home-made Sate (viet chili sauce). It's smokey and aged to perfection at Got Pho and no matter where you go you will not find this or anything like it anywhere else. I think the other soup joints use packaged generic Sate because they believe that no one will notice but it's soooo not true once you're in the know. You have to ask for it but when you do you'll be surprised at the difference.\r Enjoy! Pros: House Special Chargrilled Pork, Amazingly flavorful broth Cons: Strip mall location doesn't do it justice but inside you wont notice more

Got Pho? You bet. 5/23/2008

It's too bad a few negative reviews here are spoiling the fun for everyone else. Don't listen to the naysayers (who have probably gone to Got Pho once before pulling the bad-review trigger). We have been going to Got Pho for a few years now (we live nearby in one the neighborhoods) and the service is top-notch. The pho is excellent and flavorful, though don't be afraid to branch out from soup and go for other dishes they do very well: try the grilled shrimp and pork with noodles (bun tom thit nuong), it's a delicious combination of vermicelli noodles, succulent grilled pork and shrimp, fresh herbs, and naturally sweetened fish sauce poured over the entire dish mixed with your comfort level of chili sauce. So good! Got Pho also has a great outdoor patio perfect for the summer, though the owner once told me it gets little use because they often don't have enough people coming in the summer to open it up -- which is a shame, because it's one of the few outdoor patios you will find at any Vietnamese restaurant in Portland. Help out Got Pho by frequenting this excellent establishment, especially if you're a member of one of the nearby neighborhoods. more

Good food, cool dude, excellent mood 5/4/2008

This was my third time going to Got Pho, and the food was excellent like always, so I decided to write a review about the restaurant. The pho was delicious and not overly saturated with salt and MSG like other Vietnamese restaurants. The portion of food served was great; it wasn't too large or too small, leaving you to want some more. I also have to mention that the sesame chicken and the BBQ pork rolls were off the charts! Everyone should really try the chicken, the favor was luscious and harmless (it is not greasy for once). The rolls were extremely appetizing too.\r \r The restaurant was always clean and had friendly service (many Asian restaurants around town are so trashy, and their customer service are ridiculously rude) The owner was very helpful, always asking whether I needed assistant in choosing which food to eat. I also enjoyed the scenery of the restaurant, it wasn't too dark or too lighted. Too bad Portland rains all the time, otherwise I would sit in the patio that they have to enjoy my food. Summer is coming around, so hopefully I get the opportunity to enjoy the weather and eat my food at Got Pho outside thier patio.\r \r Got Pho is highly recommended for those who really take pleasure in eating authentic, fresh, and flavorful Vietnamese food!!! Pros: Authentic, inexpensive, and excellent service. Overall a wonderful experience! Cons: more wine options! more

Horrible experience 3/20/2008

I will never ever go back to Got Pho. The service was unbelievably bad. I went on a Thursday night and the waiter (who I think was the owner) was on his cell phone almost the entire time, even when greeting us. He handed us a crumb-filled high chair for our toddler and proceeded to ignore us for his cell phone conversation even though the restaurant was completely empty except for one other couple. The food was bland and came complete with a hair in the broth. Of course the waiter never came by to check on us as he was too busy chatting. Meanwhile, the bus boy brought out a huge janitor-style cart complete with immense trash can to clean off the adjacent table--very appetizing. We ate as quickly as we could, leaving half our food, and left vowing never to return. I can't believe this place has gotten so many positive reviews. I would not go back if the food were free. Cons: service, food more

Convenient, decent pho, veg and low carb options avail 2/22/2008

I still occasionally get food to go from here because it is on the way home and not far off the max.\r It's clean, staff are fine, they get my order right, but I only get standard pho, no subsitutions. \r The broth is what makes this a less than great bowl soup. They do have veg and low carb options that makes it good for some. I still prefer Vho Vinh on 73rd and Fremont, it's just a better bowl of soup. Pros: Convenient, veg and low carb options Cons: can get better quality soup other places for same or less price more

Quit going, orders were wrong, portions smaller, owner treated me like an annoyance 10/4/2007

I quit going. Had been going since they opened and was greeted warmly and the Pho was hearty and good, but in the last year, the orders got a bit smaller, which I could live with, but every time, my Special Pho would be missing a side of something. The soup was fine, but peppers not there one time, basil missing another, a meat missing the next. And the owner kind of got a bit more impersonal every time, even though I never busted his chops about the inconsistancy. So, sadly, I just phased myself out of going there. It's too bad, as there really isn't another really close option nearby. Hope they can fix the erratic orders put out, I would go back. Pros: Authentic Cons: Service increasingly impersonal more
