good spot 1/14/2009

This is a great restaurant in the heart of downtown. Im always surprised how full the bar is even though it is not street level. The bar service is top notch and notice most if not all of them have been there since we have been visiting. We are always welcomed with a smile and they really go out of the way to make us feel like a ""friend."" The drinks are great prices during happy hour a little expensive when off, but i guess thats downtown pricing. The food is good not great however not the reason we go. We go for the beer, cheap snacks, and great service. Pros: food, beer, parking Cons: often full more

great drinks.... watch out for food 11/27/2008

My wife and I went there for happy hour. Drinks were very good and reasonably priced. Spring rolls tasted heavenly. Unfortunately we both had severe issues with our stomachs the same night. (BTW, We did not eat anything esle anywhere else that night). We called the restaurant next morning and received an apology. (just an apology, nothing else). Pros: drinks Cons: food quality more

Bad service, rude waitstaff, average food 10/27/2007

We went to Gordon Biersch after we saw the restaurant was full every time we passed by it. First of all, after sitting down,we had to wait 10-15 minutes for anyone to notice us. It took them another 15 minutes to bring our drinks.. Sadly, the beer was hardly worth the wait, it was really watered down and so were their cocktails (cosmopoliton). To their credit, they brought the appetizer (southwestern egg rolls) quick and it was actually good. Encouraged by that, we were eagerly waiting for dinner, which of course was a disappointment. We ordered a pasta and a veggie pizza, both lacked any kind of flavor. And finally, when we were getting out, one of the waitress blocked my path, did not move for 2-3 minutes or apologize. Needless to say, I am not going back there again. more

Why eat Farm Raised Salmon in the Northwest? 5/18/2007

This restaurant is serving farm raised salmon instead of wild salmon. Farm raised salmon has been shown to contain high levels of toxins like PCB. The salmon are fed 'salmon chow' that, among other things (which are a guarded secret), contains a coloring agent to make the salmon pink. Above all, salmon farming hurts the environment and is a serious threat to the wild salmon of the pacific northwest. It's not like wild salmon isn't available, especially here in the northwest. The only reasons a restaurant would serve farm raised salmon is because they are ignorant of the facts about the food choices they are making, they have no regard for the environment or your health, or they are greedy (it's a lot cheaper) at your expense. more

Great for sharing 2/28/2007

I?ve had a great experience every time I?ve gone to Gordon Biersch. The food was fabulousand entrees were big enough that we all had a little bit of each others. The beer selection was amazing too. You could even order a pitcher-sized mug all to yourself! Cons: As always with downtown restaurants you have to pay for parking more

Lots of Beer means Lots of People 12/9/2006

This place gets packed because of location and beer. There is a wide selection of beer, and the cocktails are worth trying. The service is very busy but friendly. The fried artichoke hearts are sweet and much better than the calamari which is scrawny. The entree selection is very small. Do not choose the pasta, unless you don't mind ""pasta out of the freezer bag."" The hamburgers are the way to go, and the BBQ burger was alright. If you want good American food, without ambiance, then you'll be better off at Johnny Rockets across the mall. Pros: Beer Selection Cons: Seating Wait, Food Selection more

Great pub joint 11/21/2006

I've never had anything I didn't like; however, getting in and seated is typically impossible on a weekend evening so I don't get to go as often as I like. They have a good variety on tap and classic bar foods to complement. Service is great, more similar to a fancy restaurant. Prices are equivalent to what you're getting in ambience, food and service. I would recommend this place for all different occasions: dates, groups, families, happy hour. It's a fun place and right by theatres and shopping so very easy to pop in - when there's not a huge line! Pros: ambience Cons: long waits more

Dont order the seafood 10/26/2006

The salmon once was good not lately. The fish and chips not so hot. The mahi sandwich is too spicy. As a sefood fan I'd like them to ty something fresh and new more

Bad Service 12/10/2005

Our experience here tonight was horrible. The service was terrible as well as the dish we ordered. We ordered drinks and appetizers. The drinks came to us but we waited a half hour for our appetizers all the while watching everyone else around us (who came in after we did) get their main course. We were never offered water, bread was brought to us late, we were never offered another drink after we had finished our first, never offered condiments, never offered dessert (which we wanted) and on top of that it took a very long time to get our main dish. People who came in after us ate and left before we got our food. Once the food arrived, it was cold and extremely dry. Blech. Pros: Garlic fries, Location Cons: Under staffed, Bad service more

Typical Chain 6/26/2005

Everything here is average. Just like most chains. Never bad, never great. Just plain boring. The beer however is pretty good. Particlularly the Marzen. Pros: Average Cons: Average more

Great Food And Drink 9/24/2003

Wonderful German food and brewery located in the best shopping center in Seattle, as far as I'm concerned. Underground parking is cheap, secure and plentiful. Great shopping before your meal. Seasonal Heffeweissen is delicious. (And I don't really like beer!) Pros: Great Parking, Great Atmosphere, Great Food/Drink Cons: Downtown Traffic, Restrooms in Mall more

What happened? 7/2/2003

Loved this place when it opened, used to go there every other week. It was going on for about 2-3 years then for about a year I did not go there. Recently went there with my friends and got a little upset. There are too many people, place now looks ""used"", because they serve so many people quality of service went down too. They forgot to wipe the seats and one of my friends almost sat down on beer spill. Plus their many have changed too and some of the great Creole items vanished... more

Obviously Can't Hang Under Pressure 12/2/2002

YUCK - what a terriable experience! Went here the day after thanksgiving. the worst service I've ever had. Been in this business for years - not only did our server take our order and not come back for over 50 minutes, but we watched her deliever food to five other tables that came in after us (there were only two at our table). Once we got our appetizer she offered us bread (which she never brought) - never refilled beverages, never asked us how the food was - our meal took 1 1/2 hour to come out and it was COLD and DISGUSTING. The server had obviously forgotten to put our order in and hid from us. Never offered dessert or coffee - simply dropped off the check and ran. If you can't hang, get out of the kitchen sister. PERIOD. (the hostess was very rude as well!) Cons: Bad Service, Understaffed, Cold Food more

The Place to be Seen 11/27/2002

Sitting in The Biersch lounge is the perfect place to meet while doing your Christmas shopping. Have beer and order up appetizer with friends. The fries are great but my favorite are portebello mushrooms. Then you're ready to shop downtown. more

More than beersch 5/23/2002

Usually go to the bar. Service is great, food is good, once dined in the restaurant section and found it to be similar experience. Sometimes a wait for tables to open. Pros: great service, nice atmosphere, bar allows cigars Cons: no happy hour, beer is mediocre, pricey more
