Good Micro Brew & Grill

So I have never given a ""bad"" review in my life, and part of the reason is that I put in 12 years of food service myself, as a server and GM. However, my visit to ?GOOD? last Friday tipped the scale of my review tenure from a low of ""Average"" to ""Below Average"". Bottom line is this... i don't know how ?GOOD? the food really is, because after being promptly seated with 3 friends, at a great seat by the window, the ?GOOD? times ended. We waited approximately 10 minutes for the ?welcome? greeting by our server. At which point we then ordered a variety of beers. The selection is incredible. So we waited another 20 minutes to order food. As my watch topped 1 hour and 10 minutes of sitting time, I confronted our server a 2nd time about our food, and was informed that the burgers we had ordered were in the window and the bacon quesadilla was on the grill. Really? After being basically ignored for over an hour, total table visits by our ""server"" equaling 3, I had to wait on a quesadilla??? In server language, this means our order was either never rung in or it was lost. But instead of someone addressing the situation, and the restaurant was not even busy, we we're left to order beers through the runner at the next table, and watch the two top next to us get sat, order food, and eat in the time it took us to get 2 rounds of beers. Pretty unacceptable. I ordered the food boxed up before it even got to the table, due to the fact we were trying to make a show, ate in the car, and watched the ?GOOD? sign fade into the distance of my rear view, as it faded off of the list of places I will ever visit again. I know what it's like to be in the weeds, or mess up an order, but I don't think I have just been as blatantly ignored I was at ""GOOD"". I can not say enough good things about good. It is hard to believe that this restaurant isn't being opened up in other parts of Los Angeles. The menu changes about every 3 months so you can always try new things. It is unbelievable how tender the steaks were. I have to concede that this is one of very few restaurants I trust to take the waiter's recommendations. That is all I will say. Except for the beers. Oh the beers will make you turn from a wine lover to a beer lover. It's outrageous how many items are on their beer menu! more

This is a great restaurant?it has both American and other traditional food which is fantastic. The dress is casual and the place itself is pretty casual and nice?you can sit out on the patio if it is nice out, which it usually is in Los Angeles, or inside the fun and casual, yet still nice and a fun atmosphere. It's a really fun place to go because it's lively, but not loud and you can still hear yourself talk and enjoy a nice meal. The food is delicious ?we had their Mahi Mahi and it tasted fresh and delicious. The portions were big for the money and there was more then enough to leave me satisfied. The waiters were friendly and the service was also quite good. The food was brought quickly, but not in a rushed sort of manner. Okay, so I've been meaning to try this place for quite some time, it's been around a while. Stopped in around 6pm, nice decor & ambiance, and nice full menu. Felt like a burger, ordered the mushroom swiss burger, to be cooked medium. When I tasted it, seemed quite underwhelming, as it had virtually no taste, and slightly watery. Hmmm, I thought. Wonder if this could be of the frozen burger ""variety."" Naaa, I said to myself, not for $12.95. I've never had a frozen burger anywhere -- in LA or any other city -- that charged $12.95 unless it was a freshly made burger. Thought it was cooked beyond medium as well, but it's dark enough in this place that I couldn't verify. Bottom line, this burger was TASTELESS. Even the sauteed mushrooms were tasteless (how is THAT possible??). Anyway, I end up asking the server if their burgers come frozen or are made fresh. He tells me they're frozen. What?? This place charges $12.95 for a frickin' frozen patty? Well, it lacked the taste that most frozen burgers lack, so I knew the answer before he told me. Shocking, I tell you, absolutely SHOCKING. what a crazy find in Silver Lake! Five of us went on a friday night, I called ahead for reservations for 9:30 and it was a cinch. probably didn't even need 'em. The beer list is phenominal and the wait staff was really helpful in the desion making. The atmosphere was good (music a little too loud at first but they later adjusted). The food was awesome. Everyone loved what they had. They have a huge menu, vegetarian too! My buffalo chicken sandwich (called the Lagunita somethin) was fantastik, even as a leftover the next day. And don't miss out on the onion rings, hard to find that good. We're definitely going back. There's a ton more beer to try. We always go for their valentine's eve dinners. Great deals and a vegetarian menu, (even better!). They have pretty good Chilequilles too, try them in the morning or for brunch. Great ambience and service. more

I had such a good time here. The food was very good - Good service!! Needless to say, Beers are excellent, service quick. Feeling a need to indulge at Good, I tend to always gravitate toward Cheeseburger. Piled high and served with a side of fries, Good Microbrew gets it right time after time. I've been to Good Microbrew 3 or 4 times, and every trip there I have been met with impeccable personal service. The waiter even greeted me by name the last 2 visits. Our server has always had great suggestions on what to try, depending on our taste. The fried calamari has to be some of the tastiest in the city, served along with this great marinara sauce. If you save any room for dessert I would go with a big chocolate tower cake or their wonderful Carrot Cake. I think Good Microbrew has a really fun and busy atmosphere, perfect for a group date or a great place to bring out of town visitors. Pros: Great service and mix of menu items. Cons: None! more

I went to Good about a month ago and I thought it was GREAT! When I was reviewed the amazing beer selection I asked for the Sunset Wheat beer. They didn't have it but the waiter recommended something similar which was delicious. He was really friendly and fun too. I had a chicken wrap and I thought it was delicious. I ended up sharing it as the portions are pretty big too. Yes, the beers were a bit more than what you may normally pay for a beer at a restaurant but keep in mind most of the beers are rare or hard to find. If you're looking for a bud light, don't waste your time coming here. This place is for people who want to enjoy a good beer. I love this place! It's like a vacation in Belgium with their enormous beer selection. I like the great patio, and they have outside heaters. I eat here frequently and have never had anything short of a great meal. The service is friendly, helpful and courteous, and the beer selection is the best in the city.
