Hidden Treasure Attraction 9/25/2007

We were in the Long Beach area and wanted to do something different from the typical going to the beach, shopping and theme parks and discovered this fun, little romantic attraction. The Gondolier started us out with a basket of bread, cheese and salami, and we had brought a bottle of wine, which they opened for us and gave us cups to drink out of. As we traveled through the Naples Canals, the Gondolier gave us a brief history of the surrounding establishments and other quirky historical notes about the area. Throughout the ride, you will travel under 5 bridges, which you are supposed to kiss under each one for good luck. The ride was an hour, just long enough to remain interesting, and just short enough to where you aren't bored. It was romantic, sweet, fun, interesting and definitely something different to try when in the area. I would absolutely do it again, and have been recommending it to all my friends to try when in that area. Pros: Romantic, different from typical OC attractions, interesting more

NOT WORTH THE MONEY 9/10/2007

The ride only goes in a large circle and the boat that we got looked like it needed repairs. What ruined the evening for us was the smartass comments from the gondolier. Rude and condesending comments destroyed the romantic feel of the ride and my husband and I were both taken back. I called the office several times and asked if the gondola we had reserved had music. The girl who answered said that she knew the boat we had reserved had music. What a joke. All the boats have music. The music was just a hand-held radio that had poor reception. To hear a static-filled radio tune in and out is a real romance killer. Has anyone ever heard of CDs? The snacks included were dumped in a plastic bucket like for an animal--not a human. This ride is mostly hype because to pay 75 dollars to ride around a circle, listen to a poor radio and eat food dumpled in a bucket is just stupid. The entire evening was spoiled and we will never go back again. Pros: I more

Excellent way to propose 8/29/2007

I spent a long time thinking about how to propose to my girlfriend, and eventually found this place. I was kinda nervous about our water adventure turning into an underwater adventure, but our gondolier was skilled and that wasn't a problem. They even corked and put the wine bottle we brought into ice. They take you on a circular route that goes through a gorgeous marina community. I strongly suggest you go at a night on a full moon - it shines on the water and looks mystical. Our gondolier sang in Italian under the bridges as well- and he was a trained singer. All in all, everything combined to create a timeless evening. Pros: Romantic Ambience, Friendly and well-trained staff, ample parking Cons: Only con is that it wouldn't be good on a rainy day. Fortunately, we don't have many of those in SoCal. more

If your looking to win or re-win a girl's hart, than this is it. 7/15/2007

This place is golden. Before going be prepared. Pack your trunk with a bottle of wine, a radio cd player w/ batteries (some gondolas have no cd players) a romantic cd, and chocolate dipped strawberries. The strawberries can be bought just down the road from gondola getaway at Rocky Mountain Chocolate. You must first make reservations at CAFE PICCOLO (3222 E. Broadway) and gondola getaway. Piccolo's is Very classy, fireplace, Italian. The Gondola ride, The gondola singing, the kiss under the bridge, the strawberries, and the wine will seal the deal. Unless you look like Shrek, you should be able to score. Pros: it a sure thing (hooking up that same night everytime) Cons: price more

Romantic and Intimate 8/30/2006

The info: It's $75 for two people not $65. You need to make reservations over the phone and they'll ask for your credit card. Salami, cheese and bread is provided. They'll open your wine and take a picture of your party before departing. Our picture came out great (they used a digital camera). The ride is around 50 minutes. They say valentines day and december are the most busy times of the year (the houses within the canal are all lit up w/ xmas lights). Summer is busy too w/ the weather being just perfect. Finding the gondola getaway was a little hard to find. It's behind a building. Park, walk and you'll find it :) Pros: Romantic, relaxing, food and picture was provided more

The Most Romantic Evening 5/2/2006

I had a very positive gay-friendly experience here, too. My girlfriend took me here on our first Valentine's day and it was perfect! It couldn't have been more romantic. At first I felt awkward because I wasn't sure how they'd react to us but the staff was super friendly and our gondolier made us feel completely at home. The sun was setting as we were snuggled under a warm blanket, serenaded by our gondolier, escorted through the canals and were offered bread and cheese for a snack. We also shared Sparkling Cider in place of wine because we don't drink. (The blanket, bread and cheese, ice bucket and glasses were provided by Gondolla Getaway). Again, the evening was absolutely perfect and I'd recommend them highly to everyone...oh, yes, and they take a polaroid pic of you when you get into the gondolla so you can cherish the memory even more! Pros: Affordable, Romantic, Perfect more

Gondola Getaway 7/3/2003

My husband & I did the Godola Getaway for our anniversary & absolutely loved it. It was really romantic & so close to the real thing, we had a great, friendly gondolier (& he sang well too!) and the pricing was so reasonable. more

I think that the whole experience was extremely romantic and invigorating Pros: romantic, enjoyable Cons: slightly expensive more

Treat yourself! 2/6/2003

Guys, this is quite possibly the best way to prove to your significant other that you really can be romantic! The evening cruise is my favorite. Book early (starting in July) to get a cruise around Christmas to see all the lights up around Naples Island. Everyone there is extremely friendly. It is worth every dollar spent! more

Truly Romantic 9/16/2002

I took my girlfriend here for their late night cruise (11pm). The atmosphere was truly romantic. The waters still, italian love songs playing quietly in the back, glowing latern leading our way through the canal. It was quite an amazing yet simple experience. I really reccommend it. Pros: courteous staff, atmosphere, professional Cons: a little pricy more

Sunset Romance 5/19/2002

My husband and I went for our four-year anniversary and had a great time. Our gondolier is a very sweet guy who is a trained vocalist. He serenaded us under the bridges in several of the romance languages. It may not be Italy, but it was wonderful. They provide a basket of bread, cheese and salami, but dont expect anything fancyits sliced Kraft, not a wedge of Brie. Bring a good bottle of wine and enjoy the ride. Itll be over before you know it. Pros: Romantic Cons: A Bit Pricey more
