I have been coming to Garbo Salon for about 13 years. Rosalba is amazing. I swear she must cut every hair individually because my cuts last forever and always look great! From time to time I have used coupons and gone other places to save money. I am always sorry I did. I always come back to Rosalba. Thanks Garbos! more

I first went to see Liz at Garbo Salon after noticing a friend who had continuously gotten very cute haircuts from her, one right after the other. So I thought I'd give Liz a try myself. She is amazzzzzing. I love the way she cut and styled my hair. I've loved the cut so much I keep going back and ALWAYS request to have Liz. Most recently I also got highlights from her, which (not surprisingly) also turned out great! She is very attentive and listens to exactly what you want out of the cut/color. I highly suggest Liz to anyone who wants a great cut that will last for months. Her service is very reasonably priced, but she books up quickly (due to her amazing talent) so call NOW! I hadn't found a stylist in Austin that I was thoroughly pleased with until I found Liz at Garbo's. I will continue to see only her for my hair needs, no doubt about it! more

Tried this place on a whim and it's awesome! I'm the type to get a haircut 3 times a year, so they need to be good. And this place is great. Great place to get a reasonably priced haircut. Easy to make an appointment online. Calming spa environment. Quick, yet professional, haircut and style. Marsha (stylist and owner) was excellent! more

I am in Austin for only two months, but found this salon and thought I'd try out a haircut. I'm VERY PICKY! I've been going to the same hairdresser for 20 years (or more). Vanessa, my stylist, was super. She listened to me and then did a great cut. She took time with me and I love how my hair looks. In fact, I liked it so much, I returned. (Vanessa also does a very relaxing shampoo.) Everyone is so friendly and it makes me want to live in Austin so I can be part of this salon. I walked in and didn't feel like a stranger! Good work, Garbo! Love everyone I've met there! more

This Salon is A-mazing! My last few stylists were very inconsistant. A good haircut mixed in with a lot of bad ones. Finally, I would get fed up and search for a new one. Vanessa is the greatest. From Shampoo to cut she is completly focused on your hair and what you want done to it. The haircuts have been so good and I have gotten so many compliments that I have made an appointment to get color done for the first time in years. more

All of us have probably had a bad salon experience...you know.....the kind when afterwards you're afraid to go our in public without a bag over your head? I go regularly now to Garbo because they not only address my "hair issues", but the entire experience leaves me relaxed and with a sense of well-being. The uplifting experience begins when I walk through the door.....this place smells GREAT! Then the friendly receptionist usually asks if I'd like some cucumber water or hot tea. I never wait more than a few minutes before smiling Vanessa (that's who I go to) rounds the counter and says hello and calls me back to her corner. Vanessa takes great care, is absorbed in what she does (you can tell she likes her work), and will talk or not talk...whatever you need. She cuts and colors my hair now on a regular basis...and I continually get compliments. In addition, my hair has never felt so soft nor looked so healthy thanks to her and the wonderful Aveda products. Some products work better than others on my hair, so experiment and feel free to ask for samples. Not always, but often when my hair is shampooed, I get a complimentary neck and scalp massage! Others there are good, too......Beni (a girl) does good hair work AND body work, and is a jewel of a person. Marsha, the owner gives a great haircut. Liz has never cut my hair, but she worked magic on my hair with a dryer diffuser and curling iron. I hear Judy and Rosalba (spelling?) are quite talented, too. And Milton is one big sweetheart.....he's never done my hair, but he's made me laugh many times (and occasionally presents me with a piece of chocolate!) I love that he goes to client's homes when they are handicapped or otherwise incapacitated, and he takes the salon to them! And finally, if you aren't satisfied with your hair, the salon will make it right. Just tell them on the spot or call after you get home (I saw this happen only once), and they will fix it for free or somehow make it better!! I've been to many salons, and garbo is by far the best. You'll be well cared for by welcoming and talented people! more

Ok truth is I own Garbo BUT Patrice(Blue is what we call her) is an amazing massage therapist. She has the skills to match my bragging! She loves to give her massages by candle light, she is firm but relaxing and her energy ( which she truly is generous with) is clean and healing. I get a massage every week and no..not always with Blue but she always sets the standard. Her massages for the rest of Oct are $55.00 and hour reg. $70.00! A steal for a great massage try the 1 1/2....that extra 30 is bliss. read on...BENI I would be way out of line if I did not mention Beni- Her Thai massages are the best in town! she combines her Yoga instructor and massage licence with her advanced Thai certificates to keep us all happy and in line. i love, love, love vanessa at garbo salon. i just found garbo about a year ago and i can't believe it took me so long! garbo is the perfect combination of a true "salon/spa" feel, but yet not too pretentious. vaness does excellent cuts and highlights. she is meticulous at her job and takes it very seriously, which makes me love her even more! :) i also really enjoy that she isn't too chatty or gossipy for a stylist....she is super professional and like i said before...she is really good at what she does! go see her and i promise you will not regret it! and by the way, i have curly hair, which is extra proof of her talent, because she knows exactly how to cut my curls! so, for all you curly girls out, i'm tellin' ya.....you can totally trust her! ;) oh, and p.s. ladies - the prices are some of the best in town for the service you are getting! more

I was captured by Garbo over 12 years ago with a friendly, warm, and genuine connected atmosphere. When I moved from Southern California, I was use to the latest and greatest up to date hair styles and services so my expectations were high. Before arriving at Garbo I had already tried 6 other hair salons. I have to say between the great, friendly Garbo team, and up to date hair styles and products, my experience at Garbo and the entire staff has truly been refreshing. "Thumbs Up" for the owner (Marsha Power) for taking so many initiatives to help the community and those in need. Last but not least, it is a joy watching customers walk out happy including myself... I was so happy that Garbo's new esthetician is Lauren! She's super knowledgeable, very professional, and helps keep my skin looking great. Also, she keeps my eyebrows in check with regular waxing that helps me get the perfect arch. Lauren, Garbo's loving esthetician, is absolutely THE best thing that has happened to my skin. I had acne for years and had never gone a day without a blemish until I started seeing her. A friend of mine recommended her salon after I became unhappy with my last salon. On my first visit, I tentatively checked them out and came out with a great cut and one that I can actually duplicate at home. My second visit was a much-needed R & R one and I got the best facial I've ever had (see Tarah) and a pedicure (ask for Margaret) that lasted me 3 weeks. I've had boyfriends that didn't stay around that long.\r \r Salon has a good feel to it when you walk in. I'm definitely a new customer! more

Garbo. A Salon and Spa has exceeded my standards for the past year. I've always gone to Aveda salons in Austin, but tried Garbo after receiving a flyer. When I first arrived I immediately felt welcome...great energy, wonderul customer service from everyone (front desk, sylist, shampoo). I was told about the other services that the salon/spa offered without feeling overwhelmed or like I was being sold something. The place is just wonderful. I would recommend going in for a "Queen for a Day." You will receive the works...scalp treatment/massage, haircut with a senior stylist, facial, manicure/pedicure (they serve you lunch too)!! You can trade the facial for a massage if you want. Another great thing is that they are open 7 days a week!! What Aveda salon/spa is open 7 days a week?? GARBO!!! I wanted to try this place because I heard Aveda Salons are usually very good, but I was not at all impressed with this place. The service I received was pretty bad. It was a guy that did my cut. The haircut started out well - the shampoo process was great - lots of aromatherapy. But that's where the compliments end. He really screwed my hair up and didn't do anything I asked him to do. He acted like he understood, but then just went ahead and did the kind of cut he wanted to do. It took me at least three haircuts from a nice, decent salon to get my hair looking good again. Also, the staff there are immature and unprofessional! During the whole haircut all my stylist could do is chat with other stylists about how they were going to go out that night, party, and tie one on!! Very obnoxious - especially if you're feeling kind of mellow and not in the mood to be in that type of atmosphere.
