The lane next to where we were bowling was where all of the employees (that were ""working"" at the time) were bowling, so for the entire 2 hours that we were there, not once did ...

Great bar with bowling 4/27/2011

Come here on thursdays during happy hour, lanes are cheap and so are the drinks and food! fun place to come drink and bowl or play pool more

The worst service 1/24/2010

We used to have a good time here and enjoyed the bowling/pool games and food until tonight. We arrived around 12:30am and got a pool table and a round of drinks. The server was great and the atmosphere was like any other place on a Saturday night. Around 1am last call was announced and we ordered another round and a couple appetizers. The Garage is open until two am or so we thought. About 15 minutes later, after we had just gotten our drinks and were setting up for another game, the security guard came over yelling at us, asking us if we were deaf or stupid that we didn't hear last call was announced. Apparently to him that meant no more pool games either, though that was not said over the loud speaker. I asked why we couldn't play any more pool since it was 45 min. before closing. He asked me if I could understand English. It would be fine to explain if they were closing early, but to be rude was uncalled for. I went to pay and told the guy at the desk about the guard yelling at us, then the security guard came over and got in my face asking why I was lying about him being rude. It was one of the worst experiences with bad customer service I have ever had. Then I went back to my friends to finish my beer when the security guard came over to tell me that they were taking drinks away from people. What?! Why would you call last call and 15 min. later take away people's drinks. This place runs on truly bizarre principles. I went to ask the waitress who said she was sorry and that sometimes the owners like to close early. The manager then came over and yelled at me for being argumentative. I was totally appalled at the behavior and communication with the Garage's management. I also don't expect to have to pay for food and drinks that were hardly touched because a place decides to close early without warning. If you're going to close early and if you're going to end activities before closing, let your customers know and in a way that is respectful. Do NOT go there!! There are many finer places with better customer service! Pros: The only place around to bowl Cons: Aggressive staff more

I love this place... 11/30/2009

The garage has been a favorite for me and a lot of friends for many years. I believe that the owners are the old bartenders that use to serve us in the 90's. Still, it is a very fun place to hang out have cocktails, bowl or play pool. Good environment for mid to large sized groups for a night out. more

Dishonest . . . 2/17/2009

This could be a great place, but they are dishonest. The guy who works the bowling counter on Saturday night is a liar. When I arrived at 6:30 p.m., I specifically asked him about the lane rates. He said, ""It's $10 an hour, as long as you want."" Of course, when I paid my bill at 7:45 he charged me at the outrageous $25 an hour rate beginning at 7:00 p.m. When I asked him about it, he smiled and said, ""Read the sign."" Integrity is a must, even in a pool hall. more

MY FAVROITE SPOT IN WASHINGTON! 1/24/2009

The Garage not only is the best bowling alley/pool hall, it delivers everything you wouldn't expect in terms of food/service/atmosphere. We came here for a large party and thought maybe we should eat somewhere first. (My experience has been don't eat at bowling alleys.) However to my surprise, the food was to die for (the pizza was my favorite!) The drinks were made perfectly and the quick service definitely helped my bowling average! I like that I still feel like I am at the hottest spot on a weekend night. \r \r Thank you Garage! Pros: Chic atmosphere, great lanes, excellent service! Cons: Did you not read my comments?? Nothing negative about this place! more

Great food, great staff, a pleasure to work with. 1/16/2009

I arrange events for my company, and it has never been as easy, or as much of a success as it was with the Garage. I had a group of about 250 people, not an easy number of guests to take care of, but the Garage staff handled us with flying colors. We were given the Star Light Lounge (the Garage's newest addition) as our own private party hall. 6 private bowling lanes, pool tables, and a private bar. Each staff member working our function was friendly and acommadating, making a seemingly daunting task of organizing a 250 person function, easy. The food was great, the drinks were strong and never left our hands, and the Garage delivered on everything they promised. They definititely gained themselves 250 more loyal customers.\r \r Thank you, Garage!! Pros: Great service, really good drinks, nice staff. more

AWESOME SPOT 1/14/2009

I LOVE the new space at the bowling alley, GARAGE, on Capitol Hill! It really is a beautiful space with many curious and interesting art pieces to look at. I've attended many events there over the years and think it just continues to get better and better! When exploring which space would be best for our group there where so many options available. The person I spoke to on the phone was very thorough and knowledgeable about which areas he thought would best suit us. At the private birthday party we had, there seemed to just be endless amounts of food! And delicious to boot! I loved the thin crust pizzas and crisp veggies to dip in the garlic hummus! The bartender was so sweet and patient with me when I couldn't make up my mind about what to drink...She suggested a grapefruit press and it was PERFECT!! Refreshing...sweet and tart at the same time! We had a great experience there! They were all very accomodating and professional and we had a BLAST because of it!! I highly recommend this venue for your party or just hanging out w/ a group of friends! Pros: parking garage right next to it! Cons: little chilly inside, bring a sweater until you start bowling! more

Money hungy, bad service, watered down drinks.... terrible management, snide, you name it 12/31/2008

Ok... so we were there last night for a birthday party and we rented the room for the night and they didn't let us know about a minimum drink/food order. We didn't have a contract with them and this minimum was never discussed until it came time to pay. When it came to check out they stuck us with a $600.00 tab on top of what the 40 or so people paid individually. We thought it was unreasonable and their managers said that they have a min and we need to pay it or they will run it on our credit card anyway. Then they said ""you can just take home several bottles of wine to make up the difference."" So we did trying to be ""fair"" and ""agreeable"". \r Then, they literally took 1.5 hours to find the bottles of wine, run the credit card, etc. Terrible. The very last thing you want to do as the party thrower, and Bday boy for 1.5 hours after you just drank and bowled for 4 hours. We asked for help to speed it up and their terrible waitress says in a snide way ""I don't want to be here either, this wasn't exactly a huge party (looking for tips) and I want to leave too..."" \r Anyway, they lacked tack in every way... when we asked to speak with the decision maker my brother in law literally got kicked out of the bar for asking even thought it was polite. \r We have had fun other times here and have had a good experience in general... until we came with a party. They showed total devotion to themselves over the customers and were just terrible to deal with. Apparently they have new management too... so maybe that is the difference from other experiences here. \r \r I would highly discourage any large group from using the Garage as a venue. They clearly don't care about their customers... and again... the worst way to end a party is to standing there while someone takes an hour and a half checking you out. Terrible... Pros: It is the only decent bowling ally in Seattle. Not a pro, but that is all I can think of... Cons: Terrible Service, terrible management, awful! more

Worst management and staff ever 12/28/2008

This place is horrible with the new owners/management. This was a regular place for us to go and play pool for the last 5 years, until just recently. On a Saturday night, I was threatened by one of their patrons. She prevented me from playing pool based on where she was sitting. I asked her to move and her boyfriend threatened me. He was screaming and making a scene. When I asked the doorman to help us with these people, it was quite obvious the screaming man was one of doorman's friends. The door man did nothing to help the situation, so we could play the pool game we were paying to play. When the verbal altercation with the patrons next to us continued, I asked to speak to the manager. I was ignored; he couldn't have cared less. The change in the atmosphere and the people who now go here reflects the horrible staff and management. I have never been threatened with a gun before, and it is not something I would ever had expected before. Avoid this place at all costs! It is now dangerous to go there. Pros: nothing with the change in managment and/or ownership Cons: Thug patrons and horrible staff and management more

Rude, crowded and expensive and has watered down vodka...... 11/24/2008

Expensive ? over $300 for a party of 8\r Horrible service - Takes for ever to receive service, and really no one cares. Also constantly messing up the orders and refuse to admit it.\r Worst bar I have ever seen ? Chilled vodka is mixed with ice ? and allowed to sit making it extremely watered down ( I am Russian trust me I know my vodka, I also bartend). Kamikaze tastes like sugar water and lemon (should be lime and they over do it with triple sec)\r Finally ? when asked to see the manager or the owner ? we were cut of the bar by saying ?good night? and then announcing to the whole place over the loud speakers not to ser us (BTW none of us was even close to being drunk). When I go out and we spend over $500 on drinks, pool and food, I expect service and I expect respect. We have respectfully left the place and will never come back I hope anyone who reads it will follow this example. There are plenty of great places around Seattle. Belltown billiards at least doesn?t water their drinks and has better music? (I am not affiliated with them)\r \r Pros: Ok pool Cons: BAD everything else more

Watch that liquor! 1/17/2007

The food isn't splendid, but it's OK. I'm not a beer drinker and apparently beer is why this place exists. I had no idea that when you order a double here, they charge you for two cocktails, and cocktails here are $8! So two double gimlets and a quesadilla was $53! And by double here I'm not talking enormous drinks. Just something that isn't all ice. That's just plain greed.\r \r If you go, drink beer (if you like beer). I won't go back. Too damn pricey! more

Close fun for SU 11/13/2006

Went here for some friend's 21st parties while attending SU. Fun little place that can get pretty busy at night. Decent prices, good place to sit and chat and meet people. Also, pool and bowling within steps of the university! Pros: Close-in fun Cons: Crowds of odd folks more

Great Pool and Bowling. Restaurant servers and kind of rude. 11/9/2006

Have had great experiences with pool hall and bowling alley. Restaurant servers are a bit to be desired with their personality. more

Great place to play pool 9/26/2006

The tables are very decent, and it's so cheap especially during the daily happy hour. They play a variety of music. I have never tried their food yet, but this is definitely one of the best pool spot in Seattle! Pros: Cheap, Cheap, Cheap more

Best Place for Private Parties! Flexibility, Great Food, Fun Entertainment... 7/24/2006

The Garage is the PERFECT place to host a private party! The Spare Room is intimate - yet roomy with great sound, private bar, restrooms, bowling, pool and even shuffleboard! A big thanks to the team...Mike, Josh, Nate and Liz for making my husbands 40th birthday party a blast! Food was awesome, drinks were strong and the activities kept everyone entertained! You guys were so easy to work with...your flexibility with the hours, menu, decorations, and my many special requests made it so easy for me! It was a HUGE success! Thanks for making me look so good! Pros: Ambience, Food, Value Cons: Parking more

Fantastic Service 7/18/2006

\r I recently hosted a 40th birthday party for my friend at the Garage. The general manager Mike Bitando really went out of his way to help set the event up. The staff during the event was FANTASTIC. Food was great too. We had about 70 people at the event, and I still keep receiving feedback from them on how much fun they had at the party. It was a great experience and I am definitely going to go back!\r more

Amazing Place! Everything! 6/29/2006

I am A Starbucks Manager and host many parties at the Garage. We always have an amazing time with our old and new employees.\r The Manager Mike is great. Helpful with all my concerns. Its really amazing how much money we spend there, but every cent is Worth it. I had a server there, A MAN, KODY,which was rare considering I've only seen women servers there. Who generally don't leave a great impressions. He was AMAZING, Nice, Concerned, Quick, genuine, He seemed to really like people and his job. He laughed with me that he was the token MAN server. Because of him we have booked more parties at the Garage.\r I tell everyone to visit for fun and food. The Beef Medallions are unbeleivable. The Lanes are the best iv'e ever bowled on. It clean and its classy. Pros: Good food, Great service! Cons: Parking can be a challenge. more

Always a great time ans great service! 6/11/2006

I work really close to the Garage and there have been many times when my coworkers and I go to there for Happy Hour. I am very sad to see that not everybody feels the same way we do about the place. We love coming to the Garage!! There has not been a time when we leave the place not wanting to come back. The company I work for holds our annual summer party there and the place is always excellent in both service and atmosphere. We recently had our company party there and the food and drinks were very good. The servers were very very friendly and kept our glasses full at all times. The bartender Eric was great. The employees there always especially Heather, made sure everyone was doing well. I can definitely say that my friends and I find that the Garage is a great place to go for a simple Happy Hour and is great for major functions as well. The staff is well organized and Heather the server that waited on us on our company party was very exceptional. You definitely find not only me but also our whole office going back to the Garage repeatedly. Always a great time!! Pros: Great Happy hour! Very worth going to! more

What do you find in a Garage??? Grease balls!!! 5/30/2006

I have never seen such worthless people attempting to work in a Seattle establishment. They treated people like we should be serving them. We were out for an evening of fun ready to spend some money on drinks, food and fun but instead played one game of pool and beat it over to a place that offered much, much better service and actually appreciated the business we were giving them. Save your money and your time, it certainly isn't worth it!!!!! Cons: service, atmosphere more
