Authentic Sushi & Japanese 6/30/2009

My Japanese friend and I had lunch here the other day. He was raving about how good and authentic the food is. Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff. I am going to recommend them for a catering job @ my office. Pros: Authentic more

Great place 6/19/2009

It was a nice place to eat. Good sushi especially. The chicken teriyaki had a nice flavor. I would recommend the place to others. Pros: delicious food more

Best sushi in Palo Alto 6/11/2009

Though the portions are small and the food can be perceived to be pricey, the overall experience is classy and yummy - one of the best sushi places you'll find in Palo Alto. Pros: Authentic Cons: Small portions more

Delicious 12/17/2008

A Fine Meal or a Sushi and Sake Night! 3/19/2008

For twenty five years I've enjoyed the hospitality of the Io family at their restaurant called Fuki-Sushi. During my early career in Silicon Valley their much smaller (at the time) Fuki-Sushi was a home away from home, where quality food and ingredients was always the standard. Whether it was simple oyako donburi or a tsukiyaki, the experience was more of a home-cooked meal than that of a restaurant. Pros: Outstanding sushi, great hospitality Cons: In life, you pay for quality more

Worst place to be! 2/25/2008

I heard so much good things about Fuki Sushi and read good reviews. (Of course, I read bad reviews too, but I did not pay much attention) So, when my husband and I went there for the first time, we had very high anticipation to be served with high quality sushi. Pros: NA Cons: Low quality sushi more

The best in the bay area 1/31/2008

You'll be hard pressed to find another place as good as this. Food is fresh, and they place a lot of emphasis on the quality of the food and preparation. Many Japanese expats (from Japan) eat here - so I think that's a good indicator of the quality. They even offer sushi cooking classes! Pros: Excellent food! Cons: On the pricier side, but you get what you pay for. more

Absolutely the Best Sushi I have Ever Had 7/1/2007

Maybe the best food I ever had in my life... I have eaten sushi for my entire life; in the bay area, New York and Los Angeles. This place is phenomenal. The nigiri portions are great and the fish are incredibly fresh and tasty. Their spicy rolls (an option on almost every roll they offer) is excellent. Spicy spider is painfully good. On the expensive side, but well worth it. I recommend avoiding the California rolls though, the only thing on the menu not quite 5 stars. Pros: Food, Ambience, Selection, Service and Specilaty rolls Cons: None (other than the califronia rolls) more

Great rolls and sashimi, pricey 11/5/2006

The food is fresh, delicate, and subtle. Sushi rolls are actually a reasonable size, meaning you can fit one in your mouth versus having to take a bite out of one and have it all fall apart. The portions are not so generous given the price and waits can be long even with a reservation. Pros: Fresh fish Cons: high prices more

One of the best sushi restaurants in Bay Area 10/23/2006

Either for lunch or dinner -- fish is always fresh, rice is perfect, service is prompt, staff is very pleasant. The only complaint I have is the bill -- over $100 for 2 people, which means portions are smaller than most other places, but well worth the exatra dow. Rolls are exceptional. Another thing to be aware of is it seems like it's popular for family dinners -- on a Sunday night there might be quite a few people with kids, and with arrogant peninsula crowd consideration for comfort of others is the last thing on minds of geniuses showing up there with babies. Pros: Great sushi Cons: Expensive, small portions more

Way overpriced 9/15/2006

I was very disappointed by this place. I had heard it's expensive but that they have good sushi. Wrong. It is way overpriced for what you get, and the sushi is mediocre. For the price I would expect way better food than that. The service is o.k., the table next to us was getting really slow service so I think it depends on the waitress you get. Ambience is o.k., and clean. Definitely not authentic if you are looking for an authentic experience. Cons: Overpriced more

not as great 8/20/2006

Ok their website is BEAUTIFUL! but dont be fooled. we waited for over an hour for our food bc i thought it was going to be worth it. the sushi was really really underrated. my roll was DRENCHED in teriyaki sauce which was weird because i've never seen that on a california roll. their ice cream was good. with the red beans on top of it.. it was a nice place on the inside.. it's just not as good as everyone says it is. i was very disappointed because i love sushi of all types and have had it all good and bad. more
