can't really tell 3/5/2007

My friends and I tried to get a pint or two. We were told to sit anywhere but weren't allowed to sit at the only two tables available. The girl working there wasn't friendly. It was shame, I heard so much about the place and didn't get the chance to try it out. Definitely won't recommend the place.\r Pros: word of mouth said this was a good place to hang out. Cons: bad attitude from staff, didn't accomodate 6 guys who were willing to spend some money more

Out of the way pub for the masses 2/12/2007

Good food for not much money if you're going to the theater. 12/19/2006

My wife and I were looking for a place to have something to eat before going to the theater. We didn't have much money so Walnut St near the theater was out. I happened to get an on street parking spot on Samson St across from Fergie's Pub so we tried it and we were not disappointed. NO TV!!! You can hear yourself talk. The music they were playing was great. The food was very good and the waitress was very personable and friendly. We will definitely return there if we go to the theater again. Highly recommended!!! Pros: NO TV, good food for not much money Cons: Small, not many tables more

Try the Mussels 3/12/2006

We stopped in quick just for a drink to let rush hour pass. We had excellent drinks, great service, and the mussels.... I do not even know how to explain them. They were so tender and the taste was unbelievable. Great old fashion pub. No TV's!! So you can actually hang out and Blarney!!!! Pros: Food, Drinks , Atmosphere more

Okay, the food is fried, the bartender is chatty, and they don't serve Michelob Ultra, so please don't ask. They DO, however, have Guinness and, my new favorite, Smithwick's. Yum. It can be smokey, which is just fine, and the service can be slow (they usually just have one waitress on a relatively big floor). But so what? Why would you be in a hurry to leave? fergies is such a diamond in the rough that I am not sure if I want to rate it so well - then the secret will be out. I cannot remember the last time I went to a bar while I was on a business trip and felt so relaxed that wished I lived nearby so that this could become my regular watering hole. The crowd in pleasantly unpretentious, and my beer and drinks were served to me by a cutie named Ana who took my stupid jokes in stride. I will definitely recommend this place to friends more

I found Fergies to be extremely friendly and cozy. The bartender Casey was hilarious. Not having a t.v. seemed to make all the people at the bar talk to each other. We went in on a Saturday afternoon, had pints of Youngs and Guinness, ate some delicious burgers and listened to live Irish music. Wow! Fun place and real Irish music 1/27/2003

What a great find... I wandered into this place after the home show at the Convention Center, and it was a real taste of home for me. They even had live traditional music; and these lads could play. Damn good Irish Pub!!! 1/14/2003

My father and I were back in Philly visiting our old hometown with a few friends we brought back with us, when we stumbled across Fergie's. Boy, are we glad we found this place! We had the best time hanging out, eating, and of course drinking. We met some very friendly patrons and staff. The food was excellent. I was quite surprised to find Chimay Ale there, bravo on that choice. I bought a T-shirt, and I went back the next day, I liked the place so much. Well be back the next time were downtown, in the City of Brotherly Love. Pros: beer selection, service, food more

Great Beer Selection! 8/10/2002

We loved the selection of beers. On tap and in bottles, by far, more selection than most other bars. The Bartender was friendly and prompt. The price of a Belguim bottle was much less than I've experienced in other places. We didn't eat because of the time of day,, so please ignore the food rating,,,, but we're looking forward to coming back for some live music and food! Pros: beer selection, service more

A Real Irish Pub!! 5/22/2002

Fergie's is the best Irish bar in Philadelphia. It's got a great group of regulars and the perfect atmosphere to get together with friends. Thankfully, the idiots, yuppies and fratboys stay away during the week, making this a haven for an ecclectic crowd. Pros: No TV, Cheap, Ecclectic Cons: Crowded on weekends, so-so food, awful live music more
