I was really thinking about going to this salon, but I changed my mind after I noticed that all of the good reviews were posted on or close to 8/16/07-- obviously all posted by the same person (probably the owner, how unprofessional!). I don't think I want to go to a salon that only gets good reviews when they post about themselves. The real reviews rate this salon very poorly. more

I used to work there and they did not go about the TB incident properly. We (the staff) were all told to not say a word to any clientele about it, that the management would contact the clients, but many of my clients were never told and no longer go there.This right there tells you the character of the place. Since the new owner took over most of the original staff left because she was micro managing, changing everyones' hours and being a control freak. Her mother actually wrote one of the "rave" reviews here. All I can say is karma..you get what you give and karma will come right back to them in the same way they turned all our lives upside down playing with our hours with no concern that we had bills to pay! I am very thankful I quit when I did. Everyone I worked with was extremely talented in their own right- it's too bad the owner was too occupied with her own issues + problems to see that. Some people just aren't meant to manage..and Donna is one of them. I am sure you will get awesome color and cuts here..just don't get too attached to your stylist as she will be there one minute and gone the next! I have been a client of Excel Salon since the new ownership in 2004. I must say that I have been treated to the best service since. The salon is always imaculate and very comfortable. I am greeted with a smile that is genuine and friendly each time. All of the stylists are very talented and up to date. It is such a pleasure to be Treated with such care to my indivdual needs. I am never pressured to buy products or extra services but always given great advice if I ask for help. I checked out the T.B. incident with the board of health and was pleasntly surprised to know that Excel went above and beyond to comply with all of their requirements .When I asked why I was not personally notified, they asured me that only those at any risk had been promptly contacted and their was no risk to anyone else. I will continue to use and praise Excel salon. Thanks Excel!!!! Pros: BEST IN SUDBURY!! Cons: none more

Nancy is a great hair dresser. I followed her to Excel. She does a great job on men's cuts and has the ability to look at your features and cut your hair in a way which it not only looks good but suits your features! Go to Nancy if you want a great cut! Pros: Good Hair cut, Nice place. more

Just thought I would take a minute to offer my congrats on Excel Salon receiving an award as Sudbury's finest salon. It is nice to know that the salon that cuts my hair is worthy of such praise. Pros: Even the landscaping is nice. Cons: none more

Sounds like "alantry" and "gelltech80" are one and the same person...probably the disgruntled employee that couldn't make it to work on time and lost her clientel. Too bad one person can spread such venom, however, if you read the other reviews, you will get the true picture of this wonderful salon. I've had my hair done by Donna, and most of the other stylists, and I couldn't be happier. The salon is decorated cheerfully, and is immaculately clean. This is a class act on all levels!! I have been going to excel salon for years now after following my stylist here from her previous place of employment. I travel all the way from Watertown to get my hair cut here. I love the atmosphere and the cool, relaxed vibe. All the sylists are very professional and talented without the attitude of some city salons I've been to (Boston, San Francisco, etc.). If you enjoy great service, a creative touch and great attention to detail in your salon experiences, I highly recommend Excel. more

I have been a hairstylist myself for 12years. There have been many times when I need something done to my own hair, or I need a product, or I need Donna to teach me something (whether it is about hair or life in general). There are many days I go up there just to hang out with everyone. The salon is perfectly clean and welcoming. The stafff are wonderful and friendly. Coming from a competitor you should know that if I can say fantastic things about Excel than they have to be true. Being around Donna is a joy and can put a smile on anyones face. I moved to the area a year ago and I've tried several salons, but I was never pleased with results until I went to Excel. Im so picky when it comes to color or how I want my hair cut, but the girls at Excel get it right every time. Everyone is so friendly, the salon is spotless, and the atmosphere is awesome. After trying many salons for my coloring, I finally found the ONE. I have auburn hair and was afraid of coloring it (again) as many salons didn't even try to match my color, I never knew what color redhead I would walk out looking like! Excel Salon does an excellent job in color matching and I now have the same natural looking color that I was born with. This is the only place I would go for color and cut. It's such a friendly place, clean and professional all the way! I'm glad I found them! :) Pros: Excellent products and stylists available Cons: I can't think of one! more

As a fellow designer, I can be highly critical of anything creative. It's part of my job to find fault within things that exist & improve upon them. Add to the mix that I've come to accept the fact that I'm fairly vain, and feel strongly that positive "personal packaging" is more than just a professional requisite, it's an emotional imperative. With all of that being said, please allow me to go on record as saying that Excel Salon, and more specifically, Donna Solari, is a true hair DESIGNER. Regardless of the services that you require, you will leave the Salon with your self esteem through the roof, ready to conquer whatever life throws at you. ***Want the short version? Donna has been cutting my hair for about 10 years, and for about 7 of those years I've been driving close to 100 miles for a cut + style from her -- since moving to the Rhode Island/Massachusetts border. Relaxed atmosphere w/artistic stylists who do everything to make a client feel welcome and pampered. My husband won't go anywhere else to have his hair cut and word of mouth has caused family and friends to call Excel their salon. I go there for color that is always natural looking w/emphasis on hair condition. I ask for Donna but Shandi and the other stylist are all good. The salon is impeccably clean and the service never seems rushed tho I never have to wait more than a couple of minutes for my appointment. Pros: Skillful stylists Cons: Can't think of any more

I highly recommend Excel Salon and have done so to many of my friends. I have had my hair cut by owner Donna Solari for 9 years and I travel 1 1/2 hours for her to do so! What do I love about Excel Salon - it is clean, decorated beautifully, the latest products are always available, the service is friendly and timely, the little things like flowers outside and snacks inside are always thought of. What do I love about owner Donna Solari - besides being friendly and always welcoming - she has cut my hair from long to short and growing out again. She can offer suggestions and cut to your descriptions. You step out of her chair feeling great, and looking even better! I also wouldn't hesitate to go to any of the other stylists in the salon. Iam new to the area, and was looking for a new salon. I was driving down rt. 20 and Excel cought my eye. the flowers around the building looked so beautiful I also noticed that they got voted #1 in Sudbury,so I thought I would give Excel a try. I am so glad I did. Amazing service, accomadating hours,and friendly staff. My experiece at Excel was great!! I made another appointment and will be telling all my coworkers to make appointments as well. more

The people at Excel are beyond friendly and catering to your needs. They make you feel like a friend even if you are a new customer. Not to mention, they are highly skilled stylists who are trained and experienced even the newest of hair styles and products such as extensions. I love Excel and the people there. I suppose you can only believe half of what you read. After I visited this salon, I soon realized that the reviews that enticed me to go here were written by the clientele that you will find here. Chatty, petty, older woman that cant be ignored or tuned out considering the salon is the size of my bedroom. This is a bad sequel to the movie "barbershop" except it stars housewives that complain about everything. If you want style, glam or anything but an old 80s soap opera hair color or style, do not make an appointment here. Cons: service and quality more
