Extremely Rude Staff, Mediocre Latte 5/7/2007

Espresso Vivace is a probably not going to last in Seattle if the staff remains rude (I have read other reviews commenting on this) and the espresso remains mediocre and over priced. Seattle is a place where people are typically very nice and there is an air of happiness and equality. But on a recent trip to Vivace I was met with the most condescending barista I ever hope to encounter. Taking your job seriously is great, but being rude is never in style or professional. His attitude was so humiliating that I walked out of the store and 1/4 mile to the next coffee shop. I have been to Vivace a few other times because it is very close to my house. The latte's are mediocre. Needless to say, I do not recommend Vivace. Pros: Location Cons: The staff has a "high and mighty" attitude more

Snotty barista, no internet service from 8AM to 6PM 4/20/2007

Wow. After hearing how great this place is, I decided to try it out. My favorite coffee shops in LA are Urth Cafe on Melrose, and the Coffee Bean. Visiting Seattle, I went with my laptop, as I looked online before hand that there WAS internet. I place my order from the SNOTTY barista and paid nearly $5.00 for a latte. She tells me, "Oh if you've never been here before, we're more expensive but worth it. NOT so much. I try to get online, and nothing. I go back and ask, and she says, We do not have internet on the weekends from 8AM to 6PM. Um, this wasn't posted anywhere, and I really needed to get online! The coffee was fine, but it really bothered me how rude the barista was, and there was no internet. I will never come back, and make sure that everyone in Seattle knows this snotty place is not worth it. Pros: Location Cons: Service, Rude Snotty Baristas, No internet more

BEST SOY LATTE 10/26/2006

I LOVE this coffee shop! It's got a great atmosphere and it's definitely not Starbucks. You can taste the difference. Trust me. Pros: Wonderful coffee! Cons: Not a lot of parking and be prepared to stand in line. more

World's Best Coffee! 5/19/2005

I have traveled the world asa Pro Paintball Player and during these trips I search out the best coffees. Sad to say but 27 countries and numerous cups of java later I find the WORLD BEST COFFEE in my back yard. I personally roast my own beans and buy the raw beans from Vivace. Whenever I go Downtown I stop for a fresh mocha. They just make the best. The coffee art, the snobby service (the deserve to be snobby) and the delectable nectar of the God's. You havn't lived until you have tasted their fare. Peace Pros: Worlds Best Coffee, Raw Beans, atmosphere Cons: parking more

Best in Seattle 3/19/2005

The Vivace kiosk may be the best people watching spot in Seattle. From gay boys strutting by after their cardio class, to wannabe hipsters trying to pose with their messenger bags, you'll see all of Seattle's finest here. I especially enjoy watching the Broadway street locals who tend to congregate here, and the awkward SU students who try to ignore them. The drinks at Vivace may be the best in Seattle as well. Vivace is worthy of a beautiful written review. If I was a poet, I'd write some poetry about how good the white velvet with espresso whip cream is. But I'm not a poet, I'm just a realist who dosn't like paying $3.80 for a junk latte. Biggups to Vivace, even though your baristas are snobs. Pros: taste, quality, view Cons: snobbiness, strength more

The Very Best 5/23/2003

The very best Seattle has to offer. The cup tastes and smells perfect, no cheating, no hiding, simply an excellent cup of coffee. This is the best example of the coffee passion. Pros: quality, price, atomosphere Cons: parking, decor more

Across the Nation 4/8/2003

I have traveled from the East coast to the West. From the North to the South. I have tasted many, but NONE can compare to Vivace. It is simply THE BEST!! Its not just coffee, but an experience! It has become hard to find a place to just enjoy Coffee/Espresso without having commercial marketing in your face. Vivace keeps to the roots. Especially with their trademark leaf latte. Gotta try it! Pros: Friendly atmsophere, excellent service, games and magazines Cons: not enough cafes more

By far the best 2/20/2003

As far as espresso goes- out of all the ones that were chosen- these guys are by far the better of them all. The ones that came in at the top- have become the fast food of the coffee industry- and taste has definatly headed in that direction- more

Espresso at its Best 1/18/2003

Best baristas, beans, beverages. Latte art, beautiful espresso machines. Everything except decent parking. Pros: Baristas, Espresso, Atmosphere Cons: Poor Parking more

scrump-da-licious! 1/13/2003

Definately the BEST coffee in Seattle. The latte's are smooth the baristas are smoother and it's like dessert every morning! Pros: In City, Two Locations, Worth the Wait Cons: Parking, Crowded more

Best coffee in town, period. 11/16/2002

Nobody makes a latte like these folks. Some have come close, but this is the best. Don't go for the atmosphere... go for the coffee. Pros: Yum. Best coffee. more

Known by name... 11/8/2002

I can hardly wait for those days which allow me to take a walk to Vivace and get a coffee. Even though my visits are sporadic at best the staff knows my name and my preferred drink. The staff is VERY friendly and the coffee worth the wait. Like most things I find in Seattle...you can't be in a rush! I live just off of Broadway and find the walk enjoyable, no matter the weather. I hardly venture into the store located further south on Broadway...but their staff is alright. Since I don't frequent their store it would be difficult to comment on. My preffered located is on Broadway. If you haven't tried it, you should! Tell them the "sergeant" sent you! Pros: convenience, friendly staff, worth the wait more

Worth the wait 7/2/2002

Vivace isn't my favorite 'user experience' - there are cozier places to sip your latte - but Vivace's folks craft the most artful (and quite tasty, I might add) drinks in Seattle, hands-down. Where else are photographs of exquisitely crafted latte foam featured on the wall? Very conveniently located next to a city park for Saturday morning sunshine. more

No, NOT the best Coffee~!! 6/24/2002

Following the word on the street, the net, and the 'paper', we went to Vivace @ 321 Broadway. The service was slow and the staff was not friendly. Parking is nonexistent, its Broadway. We ordered a Double Short Whole Milk Latte and a Double Short Non-Fat Latte. The guy that took the order mumbled something I couldnt understand. It took quite a while to make the drinks and I watched her pour both drinks from the same pitcher of foamed milk. Flavor, AVERAGE or below. Pros: Its Broadway?, Staff of 2, Line of 6, Whole Milk & Skim? Cons: Poor Parking, Poor Service, Not as Ordered more

vivace's rocks!!! 6/14/2002

The coffee is absolutely incredible - try the white velvet latte, it's delicious. And the people are so friendly and relaxed. No reason to go anywhere else! more

VIVACE RULES 6/10/2002

I RUN A DRIVETHRU ESPRESSO STAND IN A SUBURB OF TACOMA. ALTHOUGH WE HAVE MANY OTHER STANDS THAT COULD POSSIBLY POSE A THREAT TO OUR BUSINESS IN THE AREA, WE HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR. ONCE A LATTE LOVER PASSES THROUGH OUR STAND TO TRY US OUT, THEY'LL NEVER RETURN TO THEIR OLD STAND. OUR SECRET WEAPON, ESPRESSO VIVACE BEANS. FRESH ROASTED AND SHIPPED EVERY 4 DAYS, THE BEANS OF OTHER STANDS BARE NO COMPARISON. OURS ARE NEVER STALE AND ALWAYS PRODUCE A BEAUTIFUL CREME. I TOO AGREE WITH WHAT TRUE ESPRESSO LOVERS IN SEATTLE ALREADY KNOW, ESPRESSO VIVACE IS THE BEST, HANDS DOWN! more

Latte as smooth as satin 6/10/2002

Once you've had a Vivace latte you know there's no other latte that can even come close. Before you know it you'll be just as addicted as I am and stopping by daily for that satiny smooth, perfect latte. more
