Escapes

In fairness, I'll say this did happen a few months ago (I'm new here). I went in for a facial and right away I noticed it wasn't going to be a few good one.. Reason? Come to find out in conversation (which, when asked, I requested there be every limited of, ironic enough), the girl doing it WASN'T EVEN LICENSED. She was still in cosmetology school getting her license and I was used as hours. It was really amature (obviously). I've done better at home with a soft wash cloth. Moving back to Va from a state where they must of had more stict cosmetology laws, I had no idea that someone not licensed could actually perform services here without telling you and not being supervised (but then again, I had to get used to seeing waxing allowed in strip-mall nail salons, too). Of course was not made aware she was training, not licensed, AND charged full price. Also, I've had the 'sales pitch' at other spas on products before - Escapes was as bad a timeshare sales. They wouldn't take 'NO' - point blank said, dead-look in the eye 'NO'. Yeah. Not going back. Go spend your money somewhere else. Pros: It's close to other spas that are better. Cons: All the above. more

I hadn't been to Escapes for a few years until recently when I went again and it was just awful. The last time I went they were in a different location, just across the parking lot from where they are now, and it was a very pleasant experience. They were very professional, the setting was very relaxing, everything was the way a spa should be - private dressing areas, robes, slippers, quiet waiting areas. I thought they were doing a very nice job. When I heard they had moved I figured that they were expanding, but I guess they must be under new ownership because this was NOT the place I had been to before. It was horrible! I walked in the door to a tiny waiting room and a reception desk that looked chaotic. There was nothing that said spa to me. It was poorly lit, messy, completely uninviting...I should have shut the door behind me and left. When I left the waiting area to go to the restroom, I realized that this place was a dump. I don't know what happened to Escapes, but it was not good. The massage room looked like it was being used for additional storage, and the shabby furnishings everywhere had me creeped out. The actual massage itself wasn't bad which is why I didn't rate as low as I could have. I will definitely NOT be back. Pros: Massage wasn't bad Cons: Atmosphere was horrible more
