Worst

Sorry, guys, but this place was a disappointment. The food was pretty good but way overpriced. Pros: friendly staff Cons: overpriced

Awful Food!!! 10/23/2010

Equestria provided the worst dining experience of my life. The food was greasy, not well seasoned, and cuts of meat sub par. The $9.00 appetizer consisted of 2 small (1 inch) fried goat cheese puffs. The $10.00 mushroom appetizer was nothing more than mushrooms and grits floating in a small bowl of something that tasted like maple syrup (disgusting). Our steaks were something you would get at Chili's or other lower priced chain restaurants. The $$$ dining tab was truly not deserved especially when compared to other fine restaurants in Memphis and its surrounding areas. You will find a much better dining experience anywhere else. more

I was disappointed 7/15/2010

worst food anywhere, avoid at all cost, staff was friendly and that is the only good thing about the whole place 2/22/2008

I was very unhappy with this place and would not recommend it to anyone. The food was terrible, over priced, small portions, went home hungry. I could feed a small family for a week for what I paid for 1 meal and get better food. The crab cakes were only the size of a half dollar and very expensive and not that tasty. The cheesecake was the best thing I ate, but over priced for what you get. Had a beef appetizer with artichokes and bread crumbs with a fancy name, but the beef pieces were burned up along with the bread crumbs, not very good. more

Good Germantown Location 6/21/2007

We just moved here, it's hard to find great food in the suburbs, several new friends suggested (highly) this place- WHOA, I don't know how they think this stuff is great food at all, it's high priced for the grade of food, I think they may try hard but they don't cut it in our book, the menu is diverse but the quality is just not there at all, we can't figure out why there aren't better truly upscale restaurants in an area with expensive to extremely expensive houses ! all there seems to be is hamburger and bbq joints, pub food and Chili's junk- we moved from FL with my job and so far this experience is disappointing (food)- one of my friends and co-workers suggested we go downtown to eat ! WHAT ? travel to the center city for a decent meal ?? I can't think of any suburb in the US that a man with his wife has to go back to a downtown area in a large city to have a decent dining experience !! that is too bizarre, but we are still looking here around our suburb of Germantown for decent food ! so far NOTHING Pros: location is accessible and close to where we live Cons: geez, the food is disappointing to say the least, and it's not cheap !! more

There should be truth in advertising AND comments !! 4/19/2007

The truth about this place centers on the need to be perceived as a polished, upscale restaurant when it simply fails the test on many fronts. Second beware of self promotion. The reviewer just below, listed as 'mps901' is in FACT , MARRIED to the owner and is the owner, Michelle P. Scott ('mps"...901=area code for W TN). This is a cheap and insulting tactic to prop up a mediocre dining 'experience'. It's also bogus. Truly great restaurants don't have to have their own owners brag about their establishments on line or anywhere else. The food there, in my humble opinion, is nothing special, although Memphis does not have much to brag about in upscale, suburban independent restaurants in the first place. A little research was in order HERE to let the readers of this site that 'mps901' is REVIEWING HER OWN establishment in a positive manner. Shameful Pros: Nice decor, wine list, Cons: The quality of ingredients, bad attitudes more

This place is excellent, you won't be sorry. 2/23/2007

I just do not understand these reviews. We go there often and all of our friends. We know fine dining and great food and they have it. I guess everyone has the right to thier opinion but Chef Kevin really does a great job. The restaurant is locally owned and you can tell that the owners really care about the quality of the food. Thier fish is the best. GIve it a try you will not be dissapointed. more

Could be a breathe of fresh air...but 6/24/2006

It's not unfortunately, same ole junk, this time just dressed up junk, my steak was rather tough and the crab appetizer (I think it was crab, but not really sure) was questionable. I can't say this is good stuff but the location is also kind of strange next to a railroad track Pros: outside the city Cons: tough steak more

NOTHING but HYPE 11/4/2005

We were told that this was one of the best restaurants in the Memphis area ! WHAT ?? Our service was amateurish and the fish quality was worse than Kroger Supermarket. Something is way wrong here. The wine list was adequate but a bit overpriced. Pros: nothing Cons: quality of fish, quality of steak, price/value ratio more

IT'S BEEN A WHILE, BUT 10/25/2005

I used to go here quite a bit. The menu changed a bit. I don't know who they think they are fooling - they 'say' the steak is Prime Grade, on the menu (no where on it) do they make a similar written claim. I'm a steak eater- I don't like to be lied to - our server said that 'the chef cuts and selects his own meat' ! so what? if it's not graded true USDA prime by his supplier, the chef doesn't know WHAT grade he's actually getting and our steaks were not that great for the price. The service was very amateurish. New chef or not, I found the food kinda bogus. I can't recommend it more

Horse meat is better 1/11/2005

Steak was tough as nails-and over priced. My wife has fish and it was a bit overcooked and smelly more

My Favorite Restaurant 7/19/2004

Equestria Restaurant is a hidden gem, I only wish I had found out about it sooner. The steaks are better than any other of Memphis' fine dining steak restaurants serve. I was delightfully suprised. Their seafood dishes are so fresh and unique, this is definently my favorite restaurant! Pros: Prime Steaks, Awesome Seafood, Great Desserts more

YOU"RE KIDDING, RIGHT? 7/17/2004

Chef is no longer there it seems?. Too bad....The food definitely suffered....horrifically tough steak and seafood not fresh at all Pros: near railroad Cons: , nasty attitudes, steak NOT prime 1 more
