Best

I was in town on a buisness trip, and a colleague suggested this restaurant. There were 3 in our group and we did not have reservations but were seated promptly. (It was mid-week,...

Worst

Ignore the good reviews on this place. They're trying to create image and buzz but the trouble is with their food; it's bad and service isn't much better. Ate there twice and bo...

great innoventive menu 8/2/2006

one of my favorite restaurants in St Louis. it is cozy, yet not crowded and the food is top notch. it has been hard to find restaurants that match my favorites back home in NYC, but this one does! Pros: Ambience Cons: wait may be long more

Great food, great atmosphere 1/16/2006

Keeping in step with the trend of renovating depressed areas of St. Louis, 1111 Mississippi set up shop in an old factory building south of downtown. The multi-level restaurant adorned in dark wood and wall hangings boasts several fireplaces throughout. The service as well as the atmosphere is warm and cozy. My friends and I dined here around the holidays. The place was packed; but our food was impeccably prepared and the wine list left little to be desired. We enjoyed a warm, wonderful evening by the fire downstairs. Order the pan seared halibut w/ sautéed zucchini, squash & saffron butter sauce. To die for! Not sure how safe the area is, but we had to park on the street and walk to the restaurant. This and the fact that there's no place within walking distance for a nightcap are really the only drawbacks to speak of. Pros: food, atmosphere, service Cons: street parking, isolated location more

This could be the best restaurant in St. Louis 12/8/2005

Coming fro NYC I'll admit that we're a bit hard to impress, but this restauarant did the trick. It reminds me of some upscale restaurants in San Francisco's mission district. Excellent, imaginative food and great service. Be sure to get a table up in the loft. Pros: Food, service Cons: Pricey, Crowded more

if you haven't been - GO! 12/5/2005

eleven eleven has become one of our favorite dining destinations. the service is outstanding, the food is great and the feel of the restaurant is so inviting. it amazes me that so many people have never even heard of it and it's been around for at least two years. if you haven't had the chance to visit, make your next reservation there. you won't be disappointed Pros: service, bar, interior more

Some of the best food I've had in STL 9/8/2005

4 of us went on a whim and managed to get in on Saturday night w/out reservations. We had to wait a while, but the very nice bar area and fireside lounge made the time pass quickly. Everyone continued to talk about the dinner long after we were finished. Unfortunately, two of my companions returned a few months later and were disappointed. Perhaps consistency may be a pitfall. It is still worth a try. more

OUTSTANDING, one of my favorites 7/25/2005

1111 is a great addition to the Layfette Square area. Wonderful ambience, great service and wine list and excellent food. The Ribeye is outstanding and sooooo good. It is a great spot for special ocassion dining, a date, or group of friends meeting for some fine dining. Trying to impress someone from out of town with a different restaurant experience, this is the place. Pros: food, service, ambience Cons: none, none, none more

Positively Crazy Amazing: 6/24/2005

Everytime I've gone to 1111 (which is only 3 times) I've had amazing service from three different servers. They've always been friendly and never talked down to me or made me feel as though I wasn't good enough to be there. The food is awesome. If you go there pay close attention to the specials. Every time I go I never order off the main menu because the specials always sound so amazing. But I do recommend everything I've ever had. I love sitting outside, but if it's too cold I recommend inside as well. It's a little dark, so be careful if you have trouble seeing. Pros: Outdoor Dining, Food, Service Cons: Parking more

Needs Work 8/22/2004

This place has such potential but will die on the vine unless changed. The attitude of the staff was that of a trendy place in South Beach Miami not mid westren Saint Louis. The Wine Manager was an idiot and really was quite full of himself. Sadly he did not know alot about wine. The service was just poor from the time we walked in the door to at our table. The food was ok not bad not great. The place has a great decor and great potential. I have been there twice but having had the same experiece both times will not run back anytime soon. more

stl50 7/18/2004

My friends and I gave this place a chance but were extremely disappointed. The hostess/owner was extremely snobby. The food is mediocre and overpriced, especially when St. Louis has much better options. The wine director, who clearly thinks he is younger and better looking than he is, hit on all the girls at my table, while at the same time acted pretentious. My friends and I left feeling robbed and unsatisfied. I would not recommend this place at all. Pros: lounge, bar Cons: , atmosphere, service more

Disappointed 6/23/2004

Our server was'nt very attentive. Had to wait for a drink order, food wasn't cooked to order & had to be sent back, after having to wait 8 min. to get a chance to send it back, heard 2 other tables complain, slow on drink orders. Pros: bar & outdoor patio, Recommend flatbreads, nice, trendy look Cons: , overlook kitchen, service more

Reach for the top 1/20/2004

1111 Mississippi is quickly becoming one of Saint Louis best restaurants. There is not a better value for the food, service and ambiance in Saint Louis. The restaurant cateers more to a winter oriented atmosphere and it will be interesting to revisit the restaurant in Spring and Summer to see how the feel changes. The food was spectacular and the entire evening was fabulous, the only thing I would complain about is the proximity of the two top tables. The wine list is premier and offers a great variety of wines for begineers and wine conasuiers alike. Like it or not, I need to get used to the NY feel of a restaurant as space becomes a premium at any restaurant. 1111 Mississippi will become a favorite of ours and a staple to the Saint Louis scene for years to come! Reservations are a must for weekend dining. Pros: Excellent Values, Extensive Wine List, Cuisine Cons: Table Proximity more
