Dr. Hohne is an absolute hero. When most vets tend to err on the side of 'wait and see', Dr. Hohne didn't hesitate a second to get my Doberman into see him. He saved his life no doubt with the treatment he received. We've been going to Dr. Hohne for 6 years and I would never take my dog to any other vet for anything other than a temperature reading. We drive an hour to see him. Every minute is worth it!!! more

We will never ever ever go to another vet. I have moved to Thousand Oaks and I drive my pets to Sun Valley to see Dr. Hohne. We love him! more

I have never left a review for any business or person ever on the internet. I felt like i had an obligation to do so because of the fact that I have had so many bad experiences getting upsold and ripped off with problems with my pets in the past at other veternarians. Dr Hohne from the first time I met him was filled with information for me, went over and above caring for my pets. He personally called me atleast once a day when my dog had worms to check on him and assure me that certain things my dog was going through was normal, and informed me on what to look out for if things worsen. He called every day for 5 days because he sensed the nervousness in my voice. His prices for medicines and surgeries are much better than the norm. I am guessing that the location his building is at in Sun Valley has very cheap rent knowing the location and that is how he is able to not rip you off to stay in business. I started coming to Dr. Hohne after our last vet office went downhill. I found his info randomly and saw he was close to my house (at the time), so figured I'd give him a shot. And I'm glad I did!\r \r While his staff can be hit or miss, I've mostly received great service from them. Bruce, their senior vet tech, is probably one of the best I've ever encountered! Very nice and professional. You can tell he absolutely loves his job and patients. Dr Hohne is no different. He takes his time with my menagerie (so far, he's seen 5 of my dogs + my geriatric old rabbit) and even plays with them during visits to put them at their ease. They absolutely love him. \r \r Now, to the actual medical accomplishments- Besides being very caring and reasonably priced, he also really knows what the hell he's doing! One of my pups came to us from the shelter with what turned out to be Demodex mange. Our previous vet treated it the usual way (chemical baths), with little success. I just took the time to read all the reviews on dr hohne... i wrote mine a long long time ago...everyone has nailed this ...i enjoyed all the reviews & it sure is right on..\r this( insider pages) is such a great place to seek out services\r the reviews are honest, detailed...\r \r as for Dr Hohne...he's a diamond in the ruff...of veterinarians\r what a blessing & I cant imagine my life as a mother of 3 little schnauzers ...without HIM!!!!!\r We all want to do right by our babies...its hard to be objective when your heart is so deeply involved....to have Him to direct you ( via God i believe) & I know that He will lead me right as I have 2 seniors...1 esp is getting up there..\r & It comforting to know he will be there all the way through\r for all of us...not just them...He just is a gift from god , created to do this work cause i have been to many vets my entire life...have had some good ones ..but Dr Hohne is EXCEPTIONAL>>> in all areas...a complete package in 1 DR\r I pray for him daily . more

Dr. Hohne is by far the GREATEST vet around. 11/13/2009

Dr. Hohne has cared for my babies for years. He is the only vet I would use, eventhough he has added more to his staff. He is very caring, honest and just plain nice! His office staff has improved somewhat. Some are really nice, like Tony (he is great!!), but some are still really rude. Dr. Hohne and Tony get 5 STARS..... The remaining staff get 3 STARS. more

Excellent and caring vet 10/15/2009

Dr Hohne is a very caring skilled vet. The practice was initially owned by three vets that I had taken by pets to since 1970. I was very nervous when Dr Hohne took over but was surprisingly pleased. He is very skilled and caring for both the animal and the owner. more

Dr. Hohne is great, truly the most skilled and caring vet you'll find, genuinely is committed to caring for your pet. The office has improved a lot bit still frustrating to get a live person with the answering system now. It currently hangs up if you press 0 to speak to staff. I know they are busy but having a person answer sure would go a long way. more

Dr. Hohne is a Lifesaver 9/11/2009

I have a bulldog, she has had a ton of health problems. I dont know how we would have gotten through the last year without Dr. Hohne. He has taken such good care of my girl and me. He has been available 24/7 when we needed him and went beyond the call to help us. He is an amazing man and we are very lucky to have him take care of us. Pros: Best Ever more

On Dec 22 2008 I had to take my baby of 14yrs in due to the extreme pain she was in to East Valley Vet clinic I knew it was time to have her put down and it was very hard for me but I knew it was the best for her. My neighbors have used this clinic for a number of years and recommended it to me. I called them first thing in the morning and was told to bring Tippy in. When I got there I informed the staff that my baby was in the car and they would have to give her a shot out there they agreed to do so. It took some time for them about 30 to 40 min before they came out and gave her the final shot to put her to sleep. Since it was raining I must thank the staff for being so kind as to come to the car for this task as they didn't have to take the extra steps. I want to recommend them for the time they took and the caring attitude of all staff members. I know that it is very hard for someone to go Thur but they made it much easier. Thank you for being there when I needed you. more

Highly Recommended!!Great Staff 9/4/2008

I was recommended to East Valley Vet by my groomer..which just happens to be next door. I didn't have an appointment but they were able to fit me in to have my poodle "Zoey" seen in about 15min. I saw Dr. Chapman. and she was able to treat her severe ear infection. I would also like to add that I was very pleased with the reception staff. They were the best ladies that have ever served me. I had over 100 questions and I had 1 lady go over each one with me and she made feel very comfortable asking anything. I wish people would learn from these front staff ladies. Best Vet 9/2/2008

Dr Hohne is the best Vet I have ever encountered. He is very conscientious of the dogs feelings as well as their owners. He takes the time to ask questions and listen to your answers. He does not rush a diagnosis for the sake of time. I also loved the follow up by the office staff to make sure all was going ok after the visit. No wonder he is so busy because he is JUST THAT GOOD. more

Good vet, Reasonable staff service, Decent care. 8/1/2008

Dr. Hohne was a very caring vet to our pets. He expresses great concern for their health and is very busy most of the time so we didn't see him too often for follow-ups. But other than that it's a very busy, dynamic office. Being that I have a background in the same field, I understand how busy and frustrating it can get. And sometimes, I see the office staff expressing these same frustrations. Perhaps, they are overly busy??! Otherwise, great office. We even commute to see the vet. more

Really Great Experience 7/9/2008

I was recommended to East Valley by one of the LA rescue group when I rescued some abandoned cats from a foreclosure property. First off, anyone who works with people (price-wise) who rescue animals has my vote automatically. I had to take the two rescue kitties, plus my own two for worming when the new girls showed evidence of parasites. Dr Heifler was really great with all of my guys and based on the price quoted me, I ended up taking my two boys for dentals there. Their prices and service were unbelievable compared to what the local VCA corporate vet I was used to quoted me. \r One of my cats has kidney issues, and my parents recently almost lost a cat after a dental at their NC vet so I was pretty scared. Dr Heifler called me after their procedure and let me know they were doing well. When I picked them up, I was truly astounded at how quickly they recovered and how NOT traumatized they were..as well as myself when the final bill was tallied. Dr. Hohne is a good doctor. He really cares about his patients and actually does a follow-up on them. But the receptionists aren't that great. They are mostly rude and incompetent. They need to know what their talking about. I still recommend this clinic but just don't count on good customer service from the front desk. more

Dr. Hohne is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! 4/30/2008

He is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Dr. Hohne has been my vet for the last three years. I had a senior cat whom I first brought here when he was 16. He had to have a surgery, and Dr. Hohne and his staff were incredible. He recovered very well. A couple months ago, he just stopped eating and drinking. I rushed him in on a Friday, and they found a lump in his liver. I brought him back on Monday, for a surgery/biopsy. And at no time, did they ever try to sell my things or tests I didn't need or want. His prices are incredibly reasonable! The best I have found anywhere in Los Angeles. We had agreed if it was invasive we would keep him asleep. Sadly, the tumor was everywhere. Before I could get to the office, he passed on the table. I made it to where they had brought him out, kindly wrapping him in a clean towel, and inside a cage for me to say goodbye too. I wept at his side for 5 minutes, and petted him. Then, he meowed! Dr Hohne is the greatest 4/21/2008

Last year, my dog had a torn ACL (or as my kids called it, "a bum leg".) Our dog, Milo, is part of the family and we knew he needed surgery but the vet near us was so expensive. Also, I didn't really care for him much anyway. So we took him to another local vet who referred us to Dr Hohne, she spoke very highly of him and I trusted her opinion. So we made the trip from Long Beach one early (4am) morning and took him to Dr Hohne for his surgery. Although I only took my baby there once, Dr Hohne treated him as if he were his vet for years. He called me as soon as Milo's surgery was over and gave me a report of his status. My 17 yr old daughter (yes, human) says if she ever needs surgery she is going to Dr. Hohne and is prepared to sit in the kennels pre and post op! I thank my lucky stars that we found Dr. Hohne and hope he stays in practice for many decades to come, because he is one in a million! My only complaint is that we are so far from Dr. Hohne, and there is only one of him. Jenn more

Compassionate and competent 2/28/2008

We've been taking our dogs and cats (and rabbits at one time) to Dr. Hohne for many years now and we wouldn't change if someone offered their services for free. Dr. Hohne is not only an excellent doctor, but a compassionate human being who truly loves what he does. Our dogs love him, we totally trust his guidance and we feel lucky to have him as part of our "extended family." He always has time for questions and to put us at ease when necessary. And yes, when we've had to euthanize one of our dogs, Dr. Hohne cried along with us. But, thanks to him, the dog was able to have at least a year of quality time at the end. Everyone we have recommended to him loves him. There's just no question where his heart is. more
