I hate them. Made an appointment to have my lawnmower fixed and was told it would be 1 week. 1 month later, the front desk guy told me they were busy and still hadn’t gotten to it. Checked back the following week and was told they’d been working on it all along but had broken off a bolt in the engine and were waiting on parts. When it was finally done, I picked it up, was charged for the parts but was told they needed replacement, not that it had broken during repair.
Next visit was to have my stihl chainsaw (purchased from them) tuned up and get the relatively new chain sharpened. They over-ground it and it’s so thin, I was afraid to use it. Talked to the mechanic who blew me off. I had to replace the chain, which I got somewhere else.
Went back again recently for a replacement gasket on the oil cap for the stihl saw. Told that the company doesn’t make them anymore. Instead they sold me a generic o-ring in the wrong size, which leaks worse then the original for 4X what McGuckens charges. In the end, of course Stihl makes the gaskets. They either were too lazy to look or didn’t have them in stock.
I’ve had a few other experiences with them, which were neutral but more often then not they flat out lie to you or do bad work. I go out of my way to support local businesses but I don’t understand how Earl’s stays in business.
