Dish Network

I avoided getting cable or satalite tv because of issues we had many years ago with Time Warner Cable. I did give in last May when I saw that Dish Network had a new Family Package that was just $19.99 a month. I checked out the offer online looking to see if the $19.99 was just an inroductory price and what other hidden fees were part of the offer. It seemed to me that everything was on the up and up so I set up an installation date for June 1st. Dish Network offered a thirty day return policy for any reason and the equipment and installation were free. The installation guy showed up on time and was very nice. He installed the dish and box in about two hours and explained how the sytem worked before leaving. Five months later I am pleased to report that we have not had any issues with Dish Network. All of our bills have been correct and without surprises, the customer service was great when I called to inquire about upgrading, and we have had service 99% of the time. The only time we lost service was during two really bad summer storms and both times it was only for a few minutes. I enjoy having channels like USA and Lifetime Movie Network. Local channels are extra, but they are only $5.00 a month a steal when you consider that you never have to worry about the channels being in tune. more

I fought my husband on getting satellite tv for a few years I just did not want the hassle or another bill. However starting June 1, 2006 Dish Network has new prices their lowest package is just $19.99 and it includes quite a few channels. So I went for it knowing that I had 30 days to cancel if needed. I was worried about the loss of signal during storms, however my concerns were unnecessary. Even during a really heavy storm we only lost signal for about 5 minutes. I ended up upgrade from the basic package to a package that included Animal Planet and a few other channels my husband just couldn't live without. I have had no problems with my equipment or billing, unlike Time Warner Cable where I had equipment trouble, billing errors, and horrible customer service. I would recommend Dish Network to anyone considering satellite instead of cable. more
