I'm an eagle now! 7/13/2011

I did a lot of internet research on Lasik and what it's all about. After wearing contacts since I was 14 and having a prescription of -4.75 (which amounts to not seeing how many finger I was holding up), I'd been dreaming about the procedure for years. I stumbled into Diagnostic Eye Center as it's walking distance from Greenway Plaza. I needed contacts and saw the optometrist there (who was really thorough and took time with me to listen). He mentioned I would be a good candidate for Lasik. I expressed interest. Dr. Sanders was in the office and came in the room to talk to me about it on the spot. One of the staffers gave me all the info. I went home and did some research, put extra money in my FSA, got through the holidays and came back to get tested. more

Amazing Lasik Experience! 7/10/2011

I went to Diagnostic Eye Center to see Dr. Sanders after being referred by another Lasik center. The first place I went to was one of those ""Lasik starting at $495 per eye"" type of placesand after getting the full workup and exam I was told I was not a candidate for Lasik. The Optometrist there recommended I go see Dr. Sanders for an implantble contact lens. I have been wearing glasses/contacts for about 30 years and have really been looking forward to this procedure and to be told that I was not a candidate just broke my heart. Upon meeting Dr. Sanders and undergoing the same testing I was told that I was ABSOLUTLEY a candidate for Lasik and that he could get me a full correction from -10.50 diopters. I have since completed the procedure and let me say that the results are better than what I expected. I can see better than I did with my contacts. The procedure went off without a single difficulty. The Dr. and his staff are extremely professional and polite and seem willing to go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable before and during the procedure. Marcus, Dr. Sanders' assistant, performed part of the inital evaluation and assisted during the Lasik procedure. He is also very professional and polite. The Dr. actually gives you his cell phone number in case you have any questions or problems. Working in healthcare myself as an RN I can tell you that NO doctor I have ever worked with has done that for patients. I highly recommend Dr. Sanders and Diagnostic Eye Center for your Lasik procedure. Also, I should mention that he is an Opthamologist who can do other procedures besides Lasik if you truly are not a candidate for it. more

Houston's Best Eye Center!!! 6/27/2011

Had a terrific experience at the Diagnostic Eye Center! I had my lasik eye correction done by Dr. Sanders and couldn't be happier. The experience was more comfortable than a dentist visit and the down time is almost nothing (which was great as a wife and mother of four!!!). The staff is incredibly helpful and kind....their lasik consultant Marcus lines out the whole process quickly and efficiently and Dr. Sanders manages to make the procedure very comfortable. But the best part of all is seeing without contacts or glasses just minutes after they finish! By the next morning, its hard to remember why you ever wore contacts or glasses! more

Great Vision Correction Experience 6/15/2011

I just had my 6 month follow up at Diagnostic Eye. I underwent laser vision correction (not lasik, but rather advanced surface ablation (ASA) - see their website). I was not a good candidate for lasik due to thin cornea but Dr. Sanders suggested ASA as an alternative. Dr. Sanders and his staff were wonderful. They are 100% professional and courteous, and the appointments were made and held in a timely fashion. I am now seeing 20/20 and would recommend Diagnostic Eye to anyone. more

Fantastic Lasik experience 6/14/2011

The staff at Diagnostic Eye Center is very friendly and professional, Marcus explains the lasik procedure and is always available for followup questions. Dr. Sanders has excellent manner and takes time to really listen to questions and give detailed answers. The office is very easy to get to and the parking is free. The lasik center is a little far but very easy to get to. The lasik staff made me feel relaxed and the procedure itself was fast and boring, but thats exactly what I wanted in an outpatient surgery. This is a great staff, great Dr, and great surgery and I am very happy with the outcome. more

Best Eye Doctor of Houston 5/26/2011

We would like to recognize skilled and friendly service of Dr Mark Sanders, who did conduct Lasik surgery for my children( with lots of astigmatism in both eyes) 24 and 21 years age in December 2010. Both the children have got better than perfect vision just after surgery. No complication arose . Dr Mark kept us educated about the procedure and what to expect , etc. We as parents and my children as patients want to recognize Dr. Sanders for his expert, friendly service (always a smiling face). Service to the patient is first as exemplified by his commitment to see patient even on a Saturday to suit the need of patient. He recognized the worries of parents before surgery and made us feel very comfortable. The entire surgery was done in a very confident manner explaining the steps involved and the entire process was visible to all of us. We recommend that Dr sanders be considered for 2010/2011 best eye doctor of Houston as his continued dedicated flawless service brings joy to so many patients as eye is one of the very important organs of the body. We as residents of Houston are proud to have Dr. Sanders in our community. more

Marc Sanders, M.D. EXEMPLIFIES QUALITY - a doctors doctor 4/15/2011

I have 20+ healthcare experience. Dr. Sanders AND his team (front office and technologists) are truly dedicated to achieving excellence in patient care. That dedication is apparent the moment you walk-in their office. The front desk staff greet you with a smile and use a simple sign-in process and indicate you will see the doctor shortly. Key point is that the focus is on me as a patient. The staff ensure you are seen by your appointment time, if not earlier. I observed a patient who arrived late for his appointment. He was greeted with, ""we will get you seen quickly as possible"", and not admonished by staff for being late - again an indicator of their patient centric approach. Dr. Sanders utilizes the latest technology in his practice. Being nervous about committing to LASIK, the use of high quality, well maintained diagnostic equipment was re-assuring. Prior to the actual LASIK procedure my eyes were examined a minimum of 6 times to ensure accuracy with the laser. True to Dr. Sanders' word, the procedure was efficient and effective. He is highly skilled, intelligent, and just a general nice man. This is refreshing and sets him apart from other ophthalmologists. Note I work with world-class, highly renowned physicians at the top hospital in the world. Many of our physicians and staff have had LASIK by Dr. Sanders a true testament to his skills, abilities, intelligence, and being a doctors doctor. if you wish to be unchained from your glasses, go to Dr. Sanders for LASIK. He and his team are the best of best. more

Recieving the gift of SIGHT... 4/15/2011

Three weeks ago, I was told by another Laser Surgery center that I would not be a candidate for vision correction. Luckily, they referred me to Dr Sanders and his fantastic crew at Diagnostic Eye Center. Before I could make the call to them, they called me and now, its been one week post-op! Being that my eyes were SO bad (as in legally blind since about age 8), I was not a candidate for the LASIK procedure but was for Advanced Resurfacing. The day of the procedure was exciting and went wonderfully....I got to look into my babies eye's for the very first time with MY OWN EYES! Two days after the surgery, I had a minor blip in recovery and Dr SAnders met me in his office on a SUNDAY to examine and make sure all was well. (it was!) I am beyond thrilled to report that after only 7 days, I am now seeing 20/20 after 25 years in glasses/contacts!!! As a nursing student, mother, avid reader and outdoor enthusiast, this gift is amazing and Dr Sanders has been blessed with an incredible gift of being able to do what he does for people. Please, please go see this WONDERFUL team and see how they can help you!! more

I was -very close to- blind and now I CAN SEE 3/14/2011

When 5 pairs of glasses will not do the trick I had to be honest with myself: with the naked eye I was only able to see clearly 4 inches in front of my nose and the rest had been a blur since birth. I hate the frame glasses and was able to change them for contacts in my late twenties and they were a blessing, but anytime they could be discontinued and I refused to ever go back to frame glasses. A friend talked me into Lasik. I did my online research, and what I read about the machine used in this clinic was a positive check. No blade but light to restore the sight. I went very nervous to my appointment because I usually feel very uncomfortable with the front desk personnel in doctor?s offices in the USA. This was not the exception, but I forced myself to calm down and wait and then Dr. Sander's assistant called my name and everything changed. If something is paramount in an eye doctor is bedside manner and Dr. Sanders and all his ophthalmological staff do have it; all questions I had were answered, the knowledge that he will not recommend a Lasik if there is not a good chance of walking out of the operation much better and the financing plans convinced me. I returned home with an appointment for the operation. Living for 10 days without my contacts, relying on frame glasses was a small nuisance soon forgotten. The operation was a life changing experience. Being a Christian I experienced the modern version of those marvelous eye healings of the Scripture, Dr. Sanders and his staff lending their hands and knowledge to God to restore a sight I never had. I wasted 20 good seconds of fear steadying myself to immobility while the cut was being done, but next day I learned that the machine is so marvelous that if it senses the slightest movement, the laser stops and absolutely no harm is done. The painless procedure takes seconds, being the only minor discomfort the opening of the eyelids, but all is so quick it is not a big deal. I have to admit I was in awe at what was happening to me and after the flap was removed I enjoyed the lights polishing my corneas into shape as if it were jewels carved into domes. It was quite an emotional moment when Dr. Sanders helped me up from the chair and I saw a face perfectly clear for first time in my life without the help of glasses. The friend who drove me and my husband had witnessed the operation and they saw me read the chart all the way down. I have been reading without glasses, driving around night and day, marveled at being able to see with my eyes for first time in my life. As a very shortsighted person my retinas have still to be watched and the yearly visit to the doctor is a must, but I was practically blind -without eye crutches- and now I can see. Very happy to donate all my unused contacts and three frame glasses at the recycling bowl at Dr. Sander?s office -kept a reader for emergencies with super small print and my sunglasses- My vision is much better than the one I had with contacts and I?m still expecting some improvement. I did not use the Restasis due to the cost, but relied on the artificial tears and keeping myself hydrated and so far I might get a dry eye after two hours watching a computer screen or when waking up, but nothing a couple of drops will not solve. more

Simply Amazing.... 2/1/2011

No more glasses! 1/22/2011

I had Lasik a week ago and the results have been excellent. I'm 32 and my wife and I are expecting our first child. Whenever I had held a baby in the past, the first thing they always did was reach up and try to grab my glasses. I had tried contacts but lately they were not working well since I have to look at a computer much of the day at work, and they would dry out my eyes. So Lasik sounded like it might be a good option. I was at Diagnostic Eye Center in December for my annual eye exam, and I asked Dr. Welton about Lasik, as we had talked about it briefly a year or two before. He connected me with Dr. Sanders, who gave me an overview about Lasik and reviewed my information and noted I was a good candidate for Lasik, and the next week I decided to go with the procedure. During the pre-testing, surgery, and post-op visits, both Dr. Sanders and his staff were great. Based on Dr. Sanders' reputation, credentials, and experience, as well as my interactions with him, I felt like I was in very good hands. The procedure went great. I had some discomfort during the afternoon and evening after the procedure but I was able to sleep during most of that time. By the next day, I was back to life as normal and seeing better than 20/20! more

Wow, I can see! 11/10/2010

Well, I am super anxious to begin with and everyone went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and to reassure me. Now, there are parts of this procedure that were not too comfortable. I have deep set eyes and apparently that makes it a little more uncomfortable but, seriously, it lasts SECONDS. A few seconds of relative minor discomfort gives me PERFECT eyesight! I went home and took a long nap and several hours later I opened my eyes and could see. I could read the street sign from across the cull du sac and across the street. I would do it again in a heartbeat even with my anxiety issues. I despise having things near my eyes and usually I do not even like to wear eye makeup because I dislike getting near my eyes but this was worth it. The staff is wonderful and accommodating and Dr. Sanders is both professional and friendly. I checked out a different well known lasik center before deciding on the Diagnostic Eye Center and I do not regret it. more

Great service and even better results 9/12/2010

I recently had LASIK surgery in August and I am very satisfied with everything, beginning from the first phone call I made to schedule my appointment to my follow up visits after the surgery. After meeting with Javier and Dr. Sanders, and with both of them answering all of my questions, I really felt at ease and comfortable with this surgery. Now it?s been a month since my LASIK surgery and I am SO happy that I had it done here. Procedure went smooth and everything resulted as how Dr. Sanders said it would. My vision is now 20/15. I love the feeling of waking up in the morning and being able to see my alarm clock see what?s going around me. Definitely, I would recommend Diagnostic Eye Center to anyone considering LASIK no doubt about that. Thank you Dr. Sanders and everyone in your office. more

Extremely organized and most consistent results 7/27/2010

As a patient, you would expect the best. A knowledgeable staff, state of the art equipment, one on one care, doctors who care about your well being and I could go on and on but ideally as a patient, you would want the best care possible. I have been blessed with a phenomenal group of physicians and administrative staff that have helped from a simple hello once I walked into the office to a warm good bye at the end of every visit. Their attention to detail is very well versed. Knowledgeable about his practice, Dr Sanders, is the best LASIK practicing physician I have ever experienced in the Houston area. After a little of research about LASIK, I decided to FINALLY get LASIK and it has been life changing. His consulting staff not like others, did not force the issue nor did they try to sell me on the procedure. Informative and very helpful throughout my consult, they offered intuitive and insightful information about LASIK and walked me through my options. As far as the procedure goes, I would consider it similar to a comically dream. Day in and day out, with wearing glasses and contacts, you go to sleep every night and wake up not being able to see the fine lines. Not only is it a blur, your whole perception of normal vision is a blur. Then a simple procedure that takes less time than brewing a cup of coffee, changes your life. Seeing is believing! Image the lens of your camera being out of focus for 24 years and all of a sudden you find out that you can adjust the clarity and focus to a defined image. Who would of thought?! Now, after 6 years, I am still seeing 20/15. Nothing has changed with the office I once visited for my initial consult. The same warm and helpful group of administrative staff, Thanks Javier, Monica, Christina (sp,.), Romy, Georgia, Marcus and Beth. I would like to Thank Dr Sanders and Dr Welton for a wonderful job in my overall health in vision. Keep on the good work guys! John Hoang Pros: Lovable staff, GREAT doctors, EXTREMELY helpful more

There is no better corrective eye surgeon in Houston 6/14/2010

After 4 years of researching and following the technology, trends, costs, and recommendations of the laser eye surgery world, I finally got to a place where I was comfortable with the price and technology. Now all I needed was a surgeon! Pros: Fantastic credentials, best equipment, caringly cautious Cons: Best spent wad from my wallet EVER, but a chunk nonetheless more

Best thing you could ever do for yourself! 5/3/2010

I started wearing glasses in the fifth grade. My vision gradually began to worsen with the years. I eventually came to to point where I could not get out of bed without first putting on my glasses. I also wore contacts but due to my astigmatism the contacts became blurry and difficult to see throughout the day. I had my eye surgery and the next day I had 20/20 vision! For those of you who wear glasses and contacts this will be the best thing you could ever do for yourself. I can see perfectly!!!! I highly recommended lasik eye surgery. The procedure was painless. If your going to trust your eyes to someone it has to be to Dr. Sanders. Dr. Sanders is very friendly, and has great bedside manner. I did my research and Dr. Sanders is highly educated. He also is a part-time professor at Baylor College of Medicine where he teaches surgeons in training. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Sanders and so will you. He has the best staff and a wonderful assistant, Javior. The atmosphere in the office is pleasant. Excellent customer/patient service. Pros: I can see 20/20! Cons: Not one thing! more

Exceptional Eye Center 3/12/2010

I have had to wear glasses since elementary school and had extremely poor vision when I went to my first appointment at the Diagnostic Eye Center. I was not even able to see the big ""E"" at the top of the eye chart. Dr. Sanders discovered and treated my severe corneal abrasions. When he made certain that I was ready for surgery several months later, he performed corneal ablation instead of Lasik since my cornea was too thin. I felt that Dr. Sanders and his staff were incredibly compassionate and helpful which made me feel at ease. The clinic was run with efficiency and professionalism, and there was no doubt that I was receiving quality health care. I am very grateful to Dr. Sanders for giving me back my vision. I highly recommend Dr. Sanders at the Diagnostic Eye Center, regardless of the severity of your eye problems. It is an exceptional eye center! more

Crystal Clear 2/1/2010

If you have been thinking of getting LASIK this is the place to go. I had my done on 1/20/10. I had alot of astigmatism in both eyes so I was a little hesistant. But Dr. Marc Sanders but me at ease by saying if anything looked a little quesionable on my more in depth testing he wouldn't do it unless he knew he could give me great results. So I was glad that his first priority was my vision. My vision before was 20/400 and 20/20 the day after the surgery. Javier his assistant is very friendly and caring from the first moment you visit them. Pros: Very friendly, eager to answer any question, put you at ease more
