“Treat every customer as if they were a guest in your own home.” This is a piece of advice I received many years ago while working in retail, and it is something I am reminded of every time I am the “customer.” To apply this statement to Gil and Max would be a grave understatement as their customers are not treated like guests, but as members of their own family. As a single woman, I am always on the defense whenever I am forced to seek assistance on anything mechanical because in far too many of those situations, I am a target. I am perceived as being a naïve, mechanically-ignorant woman, who will willingly believe anything a mechanic will tell me about my car. It is for that reason that I am always extremely hesitant when having to venture out into that domain by myself.
When I first took my car into Dauntless Transmissions in 2010, it was for something that was not too serious, but still needed to be addressed. In diagnosing the problem Gil drove me all over the place in my car determined to figure out exactly what the issue was, and all the while, teaching me why the car was acting the way it was and what to be aware of in the future. In the course of that afternoon, I knew that I could finally rest easy because I had not only found an honest, excellent mechanic, but I had found someone who would continue to look out for my best interest and vehicle safety long after I left the shop that day.
A few months later, my car began seriously acting up the weekend I was supposed to fly out to Chicago. The morning I was to depart, Max and Gil came and picked up my car, drove it to the shop, and diagnosed the problem while I was at work that day. They later came back to my workplace, DROVE ME TO THE AIRPORT, with the promise that they would make all of the necessary repairs over that weekend, and PICK ME UP upon my return. I don’t know of anyone else who would have gone to those lengths to ensure my physical safety and my satisfaction as a customer. On yet another occasion, Max actually came all the way out to my apt in Raleigh and drove me to work so that he and Gil could continue to expertly and tirelessly work on my car and get it back to me as soon as possible. In short, when it comes to Dauntless Transmissions, it’s not service; it’s CARE.
Gil and Max are not just mechanics to me; they’re my guardian angels. Their mechanical expertise and unyielding work ethic are unmatched in their industry. Their kindness, patience, and generosity know no bounds, and I am proud to shout from the rooftops that GIL AND MAX GUTIERREZ ARE BOTH MY MECHANICS AND FRIENDS and I am honored to tell anyone who will listen that when it comes to car repair, there is only one answer: DAUNTLESS TRANSMISSIONS.
