Fast, quality work and reasonable price 2/25/2023

I had planned to have my brakes done on my 2000 F150 at a local all-service garage, which had a 2-week wait, but I tried calling D&D and they were able to fit me in that same day. I told them I needed front brakes & rotors and that I'd prob. need new shoes on the rear too, as one side was sticking; however they said the rear still had 75% left and just needed cleaning and adjusting (in other words, they didn't sell me uhttps://static2.judysbook.com/img/archive/btn_submit_1.gifnnecessary work)! They replaced the front rotors & pads and repacked the bearings, and didn't even charge me for the rear brake work! The truck brakes great now, smoothly and quietly. Very happy with D&D and will use them again. more

Honesty, Integrity, Expertise 10/14/2010

Wow...my husband and I took our truck in to have the brakes checked as we thought they were gripping and pulling to the left. We had noticed a wobble that concerned us as well. Our daughter recommended D&D and after speaking with Don, we made an appointment to bring our truck in that very afternoon. We waited less than 2 minutes before Larry got to work checking out our pickup...and within 5 minutes he had identified the problem. A balance weight had broken off the front drivers' side tire. He showed my husband that our brakes were in good shape with at least 50% remaining life and additionally pointed out some front bushing wear that would require some attention in the future. We were impressed with both the way in which Larry quickly diagnosed the real problem and with his friendly, efficient manner. He was not patronizing nor impatient in any way, taking time to answer our questions and making sure we understood the exact nature of the situation with our vehicle. These guys at D&D are as rare as hen's teeth in this day of corporate greed and franchise indifference. We will tell EVERYONE we know about the service we received there. Oh, and by the way...after all of that...we were not charged one dime for the brake check or diagnosis. AMAZING. If you want honesty, integrity, and expertise all in one...take your vehicle to D&D. No wonder there are so many positive reviews. They've earned them! more

Great Service 10/12/2009

I went to D & D because of recommendations on Judy's Book. Larry performed a 4 wheel brake inspection, and rotated the tires, in 15 minutes at our appointed time, NO CHARGE! He said I had plenty of miles left on both front pads and rear shoes, and I didn't need any service now. I will definitely return when I do. Bill Hough, Seattle more

Super honest and fair prices!! 9/1/2009

I've used D&D for years on three different cars. They are honest and will not do work that is not really needed. The prices are right, too. more

Honest 4/7/2009

I thought I needed new brakes so I brought my car into D&D after reading the reviews on this site. No new brakes needed yet, but they still rotated my tires, cleaned out the inner workings of the brakes, and tightened the brake cable all for NO charge. I will definitely be back when I actually need the new brakes! more

D&D Brakes is the best place 3/20/2009

Been going here for 12 years. Excellent service. Fixed right the first time. Price is great. They also did a great job on our boat trailer surge brakes. more

D&D Brakes -- 1986 GMC Sierra Classic C1500 and 1996 Toyota RAV 12/27/2007

After obtaining brake job quotes from D&D, Les Schwab, Midas, Goodyear, Sears, and a couple of local Issaquah shops, I decided to go with D&D as they were the only shop with seasoned/certified professionals (not a bunch of kids) and provided brake inspections and quotes at no cost. My 1986 GMC truck brakes were squeaking and knocking so on December 26, 2007, I took my truck in to D&D for an inspection. Larry, the head brake specialist, found that my front brake pad tabs needed to be bent (to secure them to the calipers) as they were loose and moving around. He said the rotors and pads were still good with about 60% materials left until they needed to be replaced. Additionally, the rear brake shoes needed to be adjusted to the drums as they were loose. He made the necessary adjustments to both sides and noted that there was about 70% materials left. The inspection and adjustments took about 30 minutes (with detailed explanations in layman's terms). My cost, $0 dollars. I was thoroughly impressed with Larry's professionalism, knowledge and patience, that I brought in my girlfriend's 1996 Toyota RAV about an hour later for a brake inspection. The RAV's breaks were squeaking really loudly so after a thorough cleaning and adjustment to the rear drums, the squeaking was gone. The RAV also had about 70% materials left on both the front and rear breaks so no additional work was needed. My cost for the service, again, $0 dollars. Again, thank you Larry for your honest and professional insights for both vehicles. When the time comes to do a brake job, my first choice will be D&D. I live in Sammamish but I'll drive to D&D in Seattle (Aurora Avenue) as it is extremely difficult to find a great automotive brake center on the Eastside. With more than 25 years in the business, D&D Brakes must be doing something right. Their prices are competitive (lower than majority) and come with a good warranty. I hope all who read this testimonial will find it useful. BTW - I have worked in the automotive industry for about five years so I know a little about brake servicing. - Steve K. Great Guys and Fantastic Service 10/13/2007

Before finding D&D on Judy's List for best brake repair, I took my Xterra to some other shops. One in Magnolia (Rick's) which told me the labor alone was going to be over $270, not including on the parts I needed which was a long list. The next was Affordable Tire & Brake on 15th Ave which was was worse. Not only did they add on extra fees b/c I have a 4 wheel drive, they tried to tell me I needed new shocks that I had "bottomed them out" and something absurd about gas leaking because of it? Then came the long list of parts. The total there was going to be close to $500. So, I have a $40 gift card to Bernie's Automotive in Ballard. So I thought I'd try them out. Not only did the guy want to charge me $40 to look at the brakes to tell me what I needed he told me without even looking at my brakes "we are much more expensive, but you get..." What? How is that suppose to good service? Luckily, I went with my gut and found D&D. I called and spoke with the owner and he told me to bring it by before they close and he'd be happy to look at the Xterra for me. I got there, same day, met Larry and already had a better feeling about this place then the other 3. I waited a total of 15 minutes for Larry (the mechanic) to tell me what I needed. He also dispelled any notion of needing new shocks. I brought it back the next day b/c it was near closing and my brakes were done in about 1 hour. Not only did I get treated wonderfully by these 2 great guys, they were fair and honest. I saved about $200 going to them and I truly felt I got the best brake service in Seattle. For now on this is where I'll go for brakes and where I'll send anyone that asks. Thanks D&D! more

Excellent repair service!! Very honest!! 8/5/2007

I saved over $200.00 on my complete brake job from another quote!!! Everyone was friendly and the job was done very quickly. They even gave me the option to wait a few more thousand miles on the rear brakes (my call). Did not get that honest advice from the other shop. Honest service and competitive prices. Thanks D & D!!! A very happy customer.... Laura D. more

Good service, good price! 7/9/2007

I saved $125(compare to a quote from Discovery's auto service in Bellevue). And they replaced my front break pads in 45 minutes. more

GREAT SERVICE AND QUALITY PEOPLE 6/8/2007

I have had many vehicles serviced by Don and Larry and they are always priced well and very honest aobut what needs to be done. I have been to too many places where they just tell you to buy everything. This shop is at the Top of my list whenever I need brakes done. Thanks guys. more

Extremely friendly 3/30/2006

They replaced my brakes for a very reasonable price. And then when the brakes remained soft past the break-in period, they replaced them with no hassles. Very good people, and definitely recommended. more

Outstanding brake service 12/29/2005

I drove my '94 Jeep Gran Cherokee in at mid-day without an appointment, and they fit me into their schedule within the hour. They took me into the shop area and showed what was wrong, with clear layman's explanations. The work was done in less than 2 hrs., and that included ordering and getting parts. The bill was a third lower than I had expected. While I was there, another customer picked up his car, expecting to pay $hundreds, but got charged $40 when they found that his "major brake problem" was just a clogged hose. These guys are honest, efficient, friendly, and expert. more
