Russian themed maybe? But menu is quite diverse. The food is served with lots of class but not necessarily high. Very pricey and hard core cocktails that are extremely tempting...

Wonderful evening! Great food! 2/7/2012

The restaurant is romantic, and quite different in it's decor. Takes you back to the vintage 20's! We loved it! The food was delicious! Our waitress was wonderful and polite! They do serve relatively quick, but don't feel rushed. If you are eating and drinking, just enjoy yourself! The bathrooms are always clean! A lovely place! Cudos to Fernanda and other owners for keeping up with this place for so many years! I've been there several times and never disappointed! more

Very Unhappy...... 12/20/2011

Cuchi Cuchi was reccomended by a dear friend who spoke highly of the resturant.. We 12 of us went for a holiday party we made reservation a week prior even thou they do not except reservation since the Manager knew my friend they excepted the reservation... However we arrived 30 mins early had a few very costly drinks and then found out our table was given to another group of people. To that we had to wait another hour. They did nothing to make any of us happy, and the service was extremely fast. To the point we were rushed out. The only thing I can say is the food was very good, and the bathrooms were clean.. An evening full of dissappointments 5/14/2010

Horrible service! I have been to some nice places in Boston and around the world but have never been treated this rudely before. We tried to surprise a friend with a little party but Cuchi Cuchi surprised us with an evening full of disappointments. They did not take reservations (but looking at their book they do!). My friend had been calling all week to get reservations and they refused, but I glanced at their seating book and they were taking reservations for small parties. Perhaps they just discriminate against large parties 5+ or maybe they cater to their regulars, I don?t know?but it is a shady practice. We tried to get a smaller table and that is when the fun began. We were moved 4 times!!!!! We arrived before 7pm, were given a long story about how they could not seat us, were told to wait at the bar, once the bar got full, were conveniently moved to a small table, then the couch in corner, and 2 hours later the table in the back was opened so they moved us again!!!! It was ridiculous; I have never been treated like that. If it were not for my friend?s celebration, I would have walked out. I was with many international friends who did not understand what was going on, some even felt they were being discriminated against. The food was overpriced. For all of our troubles they gave us nothing! You pay for the bread, and everything. They recommend that you order two plates to equal a full meal. I had the baby back ribs, nothing special about them; I can get better ribs at KO Prime. They rushed us through the meal; before you were done eating they took the plates. Only bonus, you get to keep your coaster?they don?t advertise only word of mouth. Unless you want to be treated rudely, I would stay away. I will never go back there!! Pros: decor, it looks nice Cons: rude, fake, over priced, snobs more

Sangria and Indulgence 4/22/2010

We had the sangria, the duck pate, the brie en croute, the tuna tartare.. MMMM! Their signature drink menu was ASTOUNDING. Will definitely go back but watch out--it gets pricy quickly! Bring a bunch of girlfriends and you're going to have a fantastic time. I've heard about a light up table but I got to hang out on the oldschool couches with oversized pillows. I'm still thinking about the munchy food. If you order the brie, ask for double toast :) Pros: Comfy Couches, Sig Drinkies, more

Eclectic but awesome 2/19/2010

This food was fantastic. I didn't go here with stellar expectations, I think b/c I couldn't quite make sense of the menu. I came here for my friend's bday. 5 of us, 2 vegetarians. We ordered the Asian salad (crunchy, very fresh tasting, lots of mint), Grilled Eggplant Napoleon (faaabulous, eggplant layered with goat cheese and onions, delicious), Insalata di Liquria (nice mix of endive, gorgonzola and chestnut honey), Gratin Dauphinois (potato gratin, not too heavy/cheesy, delicious), Mushroom Risotto (very good, drizzled with truffle oil). The meat eaters also enjoyed the Sizzling Garlic Shrimp and the Cuban Cigar- which came with a tasty black bean salsa. Dessert was Cheesecake and Tartufo. Cheesecake was small but excellent. Tartufo was good. Came with strawberry (meh), pistachio and mexican chocolate ice cream. The staff could not have been kinder. From seating us well before our reservation time, as we were early, to triple checking for gluten content, to making a fabulous birthday presentation, they completed a delicious and very enjoyable evening. The decor is awesome as well. Pros: Fantastic food; super friendly staff Cons: none really more

An Underated Jewel of a Restaurant 1/14/2010

By now, most of you know (or otherwise should) that Dali remains the best place to go when you want both delicious, authentic Spanish Tapas and a warm, romantic setting. Yet it seems that Dali's cousin, Cuchi Cuchi in Cambridge, is still the oft forgotten stepchild. Not only does C.C. have a one of the most diverse, share-worthy menus of international, ""straight-up"" small dishes in town, it flaunts a wine and cocktail list that will make your head spin (uhh...literally. I speak from experience). Add to this an incredibly eclectic decor (collectibles, costumes and one-of-a-kind objets d'art from floor to ceiling), plus a playful, bejeweled and bedecked waitstaff, and you'll find one of the most unique restaurants this city has to offer. I've had dinner and/or drinks there--with a date, a few friends or larger groups--more times than I can count and I've always had a great time and a satisfied palette. It's also only one of the few places in this still-so-conservative city where you'll feel just as much at home in jeans as you might wearing a gown or a tux. The downside is that the place is a bit small and the gets really packed. Especially later in the week, so is sometimes a bit daunting. After a cocktail (or two) you probably wont notice, though. Oh...and dont forget to wear your feather boa. Pros: sexy ambience, sassy crowd + satisfying small plates Cons: the wait is often too long later in the week. more

Wonderfully delicious small plates in a romantic setting. Pros: cozy and romantic Cons: n/a more

Great food, unique dining experience 1/4/2009

I had dinner at Cuchi Cuchi for the first time last night. I found the food to be delicious (the Mexican Deep-Fried Tomato and Eggplant Napoleon were my favorite), the ambiance was great for a Saturday night, but the service was definitely hit-or-miss. Maybe the servers feel that the gimmick should make up for not being as attentive, but our waitress was very flippant and seemed annoyed when we didn't order as much as she thought we should. These tapas are very heavy! We ordered five for 4 people and that was plenty (they recommend 2.5 per person). She then gave us the wrong bill at the end of the night, with no apology for almost charging us 3 times as much. The bottom line is that this place is great for dinner if you want good food, a neat atmosphere, and don't mind average service for the night. Pros: Unique atmosphere, great decor, good food Cons: Service is lacking, not the best value for money more

Overpriced, pretentious, poor service 12/15/2008

This is the place to go. If you like pretentious, expensive and poor service that is. They cram too many people into the place. The food is good-looking and apparently made with good ingredients, but it is poorly prepared so despite the expensive ingredients, the food experience is only so-so (in terms of value for your money, it is horrible). When you leave they will charge your credit card another 20% on top of the 18% you already paid them. They claim the extra 20% is to make sure that your account can cover the meal (maybe they have a point with those prices). Oh, and don't bring along a friend who isn't having more than a salad. They require each person to eat for at $20. Right across the street, you'll find one of the best restaurants in town. That place isn't trying to be trendy. But you get three times the food quality for 70% of the price."" Pros: Could be worse Cons: Price, food quality, service more

Cuchi Cuchi Experience 3/16/2008

On Sat. I had planned to have a wonderful evening at Cuchi Cuchi for my husband's birthday. This did not happen. I'm quite disappointed at what happened and the lack of response from management. Pros: Unique & Beautiful Place Cons: No place is worth a 3 hr wait!!!! Poorly Managed Hostess Station more

Fun Atmosphere 2/18/2008

This is a really fun place for a date or a small group dinner party. The atmosphere is fabulous! There is a really great selection of drinks and small plate dishes. We have been here a couple of times and had a few amazing experiences and a few pretty good ones. It seems the kitchen can be a bit inconsistent, as we have had the same dishes and they have ranged from tasting out of this world to overcooked. The service is the same, sometimes they are spot on and sometimes they make you feel that they just wished you had never walked in the door. Nevertheless, I would definitely recommend giving this place a shot. And if your first experience isn't amazing, go back, because Cuchi Cuchi is bound to impress. Pros: Fun atmosphere and great food and drink selection. Cons: The service is inconsistent. more

Worst dining experience...ever. 10/27/2007

We went to Cuchi Cuchi to celebrate a friend's birthday, her choice of restaurant. Looking back, we wish that we had used our dining expertise to reccomend somewhere else. After getting lost just finding it, we were a half hour late for the group reservation and had cost the group a table. Quel dommage! Hoping that the hostess would understand, knowing their obscure locale, we attempted to explain so that our high-rolling party of 10 could leave the packed bar and be seated. We were met with a scathing gaze, a scornful attitude and a fake accented ""No. You are on the end of the list."" Pros: Interesting decor, romantic for small parties, great drinks Cons: Rude staff, terrible food, inflated prices. more

terrible bartender 10/10/2007

My first review on city search, I signed up just to share my experience from drinking at the bar last night for a friends birthday gathering. All I want to say is that the bartender we had was a d****-bag. I would use a different word, but that explains him so well. The answers to my simple drink questions were responded in a demeaning attitude. Other than that I really enjoyed the music and the smell of fresh flowers that were placed throughout. The menu looked great, but after my first time experience, I might consider a different restaurant. Pros: things to look at, bathroom, music Cons: bartending service, ice chunks in martinis more

Excellent cocktails, best food around 7/23/2007

We LOVED Cuchi Cuchi! The service was great, people extremely friendly, unique drinks and fun cocktails. they had a great caipirinha, and pisco sour, which I have not seen on any menu outside of Chile or Peru! But the food is really something to scream about- everything we ordered, from the skirt steak to the garlic shrimp to the mushroom risotto was fabulous. Their small plates let you try more items on the menu!! I live in new york and was just visiting Cambridge/ Boston for the weekend.... but am already thinking of my next trip back just so I can go back to Cuchi Cuchi. This was the best meal (food, drinks, fun) I have had in a long time. Pros: awesome food, drinks, great atmosphere Cons: a little pricey, but worth it more

Bad service and very mean owner... 6/3/2007

I went to Cuchi Cuchi in Feb. of 2006 and everything was spectacular - the food was amazing and our waitress was attentive and fun. I went once again last night (June of 2007) and it was terrible! The food was not as good as the first time, our waitress barely paid attention to us (we had to ask for bread and wave after waiting for a while to finally order) and at the end of the night I hated the Oysters and asked to send them back (first time I ever asked to send anything back at a restaurant!). Our waitress called over the owner who said that she will not take the Oysters of our bill. I was not there to argue and said that that's fine. The process of the owner coming over and arguing (instead of apologizing) about the oysters took about 25 minutes and my boyfriend and I just wanted to leave at that point. I am never coming back and I have no idea what happened to this restaurant! By the way, the owner is a very unpleasant person and has never heard of customer service. Pros: Dirty Martini drink, Atmosphere Cons: Service, Food, Horrible Owner more

The best place in Boston 4/21/2007

In the past month, I have been twice in Cuchi Cuchi and it is now officially my most favorite place in Boston. My GF and I like good eats and have frequented Grille 23 and other top rating City Search places. Guchi's menu is simply better offers better value and better food than all of them. Pros: Amazing food, terrific value, great ambience Cons: Some dishes might be unavailable if you come too late more

wide variety of interesting choices 8/12/2006

In three visits, some items were a bit dry or otherwise less good, but most of them were great. The menu and the huge cocktail list offer many different possibilities. On our visits, the beef stroganoff and white (almond) gazpacho were great, as were the shrimp dumplings and the scallop ceviche. The baked Brie with bacon was both tasty and filling. I didn't taste the grilled eggplant Napoleon that someone else ordered, but he was very impressed. Even the couscous that I expected to be boring had a very tasty sauce. The fried zucchini with ham and cheese was tasty, but not as good as the other items; same for the seared tuna and the risotto. The pork bracioletta rolls were tough. The duck crepes should have more of a sauce. I don't like liver pate myself, but it looked very attractive. A couple of more carnivorous people seemed to like the lamb. For sizzling garlic shrimp, Dali does that dish much better. Dinner at Cuchi Cuchi tends to be expensive, but no more so than a restaurant like Rendezvous, and you get a wider variety of choices with a more la*d-back funky atmosphere [stupid site won't let me spell the word]. Pros: many great items, wide variety, huge cocktail list Cons: expensive, long wait some nights, relatives wouldn't know what to order more

  • The Scene
A glass brick wall between the dining room and bar produces space for two different scenes, one focused on food, the other on chatter. The decor mixes design cliches -- half Art Nouveau bistro, half PoMo bar -- but decorating sins are swept away by convivial drinking and dining.

    The Food
Cuchi Cuchi points to tapas dining for its inspiration, and a handful of dishes (garlic shrimp, grilled asparagus) are classic. But most plates show more finesse than your average Spanish bar food. A couple of plates per person makes for a fine meal; it's up to you if you're willing to share the braised duck shank or the fruit-stuffed pork tenderloin slices with your tablemates. The wine list is artfully chosen, and the designated driver can drink sparkling Normandy cider.
