Amazing, amazing pizza 4/15/2007

Really loved this place. I had the Margherita Classica -- everything was super fresh and tasted delicious. My appetizer (warm prosciutto & mozzarella) was incredible. The restaurant itself has a quiet, charming, very mellow vibe. Our server was attentive and personable, but not overbearing. It's definetely a little pricey considering that its pizza....but well worth the cost. Their wine selection was decent...but the real winner here is the food. Pros: Fresh ingredients = GREAT food, friendly staff, cozy ""feel"" Cons: A little pricey more

A Stand Out 11/27/2006

While i love discovering unknown and well hidden places to add to my list of frequented restaurants, i wasn't too eager to check out Cronkite because i had kind of eliminated pizza from my meal plan. My friend took me and i was totally blown away with surprise. The pizza is exceptional with a crust that is soft and light. The ingredients were of the highest quality - apparently all meats, vegs and even the dough is organic! I especially liked the spinach pie which is finished with fresh baby spinach and truffle oil after the pizza is cooked. The ambiance is very warm and lends nicely to the comfort foods and standout wine list. I've never seen such a diverse wine list that fosters exploration at such a great value! I was totally lost without the exceptional knowledge and recommendations of my server! Pros: food, wine, organic ingredients Cons: none for me more

Top 5 Pizza Place 11/26/2006

Lombari's, Patsy's, John's may have some new company. My wife and I agreed, good vibe, good wine, and Great Pizza. The truffle oil and mushroom pizza could be one of the top 5 pizzas in NYC. Pros: Good vibe, Good wine, Great Pizza! Cons: None for me more

Our new regular joint 11/26/2006

This IS the best pizza in Manhattan. Perfect crust, fantastic toppings (truffle oil + wild mushrooms= DELICIOUS!), amazing wine list! The vibe is great...we're hooked. Pros: ambience, service, food, wine list more

The Best! 11/22/2006

I can tell you all about how great Cronkite is but really, you should go for yourselves. To me there is almost nothing better than pizza. I love comfort food anyways, and there are a lot of people who try to complicate it, this is not one of those places. They just make it right. In fact, they got everything right...down to the cotton candy for dessert! Great pizza, amazing wine list, cute staff, good music. What else do you want? It's great! Pros: Awesome wine list, open late more

Best Pizza Anywhere, Anyplace 11/17/2006

I?ve been there twice already. I?m hooked Started off with a generous assortment of appetizers which were amazingly fresh. THe pizza was superb-we ordered four different kinds and each one was better than the next (I loved the pizza with truffles and the rock shrimpowith pesto). Bring the leftovers home so you can save some room for those scrumptious desserts. Pros: Fabulous Pizza, Appetizers, Desserts and WIne more

It's about time! 11/13/2006

Brooklyn isn't the only place wth great pizza anymore. I recently went to the LES to Cronkite Pizzeria on a friend's recommendation...so absolutely worth it. Stop what your doing and go there right now. It's fantastic. I started with clams cooked in the brick oven and then had a mixed mushroom pizza. All of the pizzas are served small or large so you can pig out if you want or share if you have to. My favorite part of my dinner at Cronkite was my delighted surprise to see a thoughtful and interesting wine list of about 75 selections...some of which you may never have had before...like Hungarian Chardonnay. Pros: Awesome wine list! Cons: None. more

Best pizza in the LES 11/5/2006

this place just opened, and since we love pizza and go regularly to their place in Williamsburg (Fornino), we decided to check it out. It was well worth it! The pizza was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend and I split one with gorgonzola cheese and caramelized onions, and my friends splurged on a pizza with shaved black truffles which was out of this world. It was similar to Mario Batali's place Otto in that it had a very extensive and diverse wine list. The atmosphere was very funky and inviting and the service was excellent. This is a definite keeper amongst the trendy LES joints! Pros: food, price, service more
