Slum Lords run this Building 7/1/2008

It's noisy, dirty, dusty and wet. Pipes break constantly because they're old and they keep messing with them. They have unprofessional plumbers working on the drains and they break a hole in the pipes which causes a hole to break through the ceiling and flood the apartment with a waterfall of dirty water. The kicker is they don't replace anything lost in one of their many floods...They tell you to claim it on your renters insurance. They claim it's an ""act of God"", which is a lie....their workers are breaking the pipes and making the tenants be responsible for their lost items. If I claimed every flood that occurred in my apartment to my renters insurance, they would have dropped me by now. I've had (4) floods from the weak pipes being messed with in this building. The owners don't care....they just want their rent money and hope that everyone keeps taking their inappropriate treatment. There are several very unhappy tenants living in this building. The hallways are always dirty and so are the elevators. There is a small gym but the ventilation is poor. The building smells like dirt because of all the construction. The building also has lead based paint that is constantly being sanded....this can't be good to breath in. The problems with this building are endless. I strongly DO NOT recommend the Hermoyne apartments at this time. Living here is a burden with lots of pain and suffering. Good luck finding something much better for your health and sanity than this place!!! It's too bad, because this building has such potential if the people at the top actually cared about anyone but themselves. I just spoke with a woman who moved in to the Hermoyne Apartments from across the street at the Ravenswood (She's been living here at the Hermoyne apts. for less that a month)....She said this place is aweful and it is run by ""Slum Lords""....and I'm thinking she's right. She said the RAVENSWOOD is ran MUCH BETTER than this place. Thought you should know. Pros: Location Cons: Noisy, dirty, dusty, unhealthy environment, lots of pain and suffering more

Slum Lord after the $$$$ 2/29/2008

Where to begin with this one. This building is so disappointing. Don't be disillusioned by the newly remodeled foyer....look a little deeper and you'll see all the dirt, even in the laundry room. The washers are dirty, the floors are dirty, the walls are filthy and the elevators are even dirty. There is constant construction noise and dust flying all over the building. Not to mention the lead based paint that's being sanded by jackhammers. The construction noise is unbarable, but it's the utter lack of concern for the current residents health that has me concerned. The construction workers don't seal off the area that they are working on....OH NO they leave the windows wide open and don't even plastic off the door ways!!! Sooo ALL the DUST and DIRT go everywhere. There is actually pieces of constuction that are on my window sill from the apartment above. The building smells musty and the basement is a death trap!!! There are NO EMERGENCY EXITS in the basement parking garage. There are NO DOORWAYS leading to the outside except for the BIG electric GARAGE DOOR. If the electricity were to go out....YOU would be TRAPPED. There is one other door that leads you through a dark, dingy and cluttered room to a stairway, BUT that's almost ALWAYS LOCKED!!! If you are looking for ""HELL on EARTH"", then you've come to the right place. HOWEVER, if you are looking for a peaceful clean environment in which to live....YOU MUST LOOK FURTHER!!! You've just been kissed by a guardian angel. I couldn't live with my self if I didn't speak up and say the ""TRUTH"". Because the people running this building will tell you what ever you want to hear to get your $$$. And then you're stuck paying $2,350.00 for a one bedroom with no amenities. Oh, but wait...they did add a small gym, which is nice, but it only gets cleaned maybe once a week at best. Dirt and sweat in a room with no ventilation system except for a window and a fan. Looks good from the outside, but dare to peak behind the curtain. more
