Editorial review from Citysearch 4/2/2014

I boarded my dog august.I left specific feeding directions had treats bagged up for each day due to allergies. She was in good health and I had her groomed the day before. When I picked her up she was quite dirty which I expected as I did not have her washed before I picked here up.When in the car I noticed she was quite itchy which I figured once I washed here up she would be ok.\r Since then I have been battling this nightmare of whatever she picked up.They did not follow feeding instructions and not one of my treat bags had been given. So I can only guess what circuit they tripped on the dog and being she was not boarded that long I think it iust being a co-incidence makes me skeptical.\r Next time I board I will want to see the kennel cleaned and ask about and look at any dogs that will be interacting and any problems they may have. But I think this was triggered by food or something that compromised her immune system. more

Best Doggie Pawdicure 10/3/2011

I have two Jack Russell Terriers and I LOVE taking them here for their nail trimming. My younger JRT can be aggressive so I was always muzzling him for nail trimmings. At Cooper Mtn I didn't have to do that anymore. Jerri is absolutely wonderful with him and my other JRT and it only costs my $20 for the both of them.\r While at Petsmart, I once tried them for a nail trimming. They charge $23 for one dog and they don't do a very good job, nor are they good at handling JRT's. I have been using Cooper Mtn Kennel for years and wouldn't go anywhere else. Jerri and the crew are so friendly and great with my pets. more

Best kennel experience 1/28/2011

I am v. happy with the boarding experience for my dogs at Cooper Mtn. Kennel. The kennels are clean, the staff is friendly and when I drove up my lab was out playing frisbee with a staff member in the yard. I was impressed with their concern over my dog's safety-like asking questions about, ""is he dog friendly? and can he play with other dogs?"" When I picked them up (I have a poodle also)-the dogs were happy and clean from their baths. I will definitely use this kennel again. more

Unsanitary conditions, hidden charges, rude staff 9/1/2010

Don't board your dog here. I dropped two of mine off during only a two-hour time frame on a Sunday. I brought them out of the hot car, and they told me to put them back in the car while I was filling out the paper work. I said it was 100 degrees in the car. I was told it wasn't safe to other dogs to bring them in in case they were aggressive! The next day I called to see how they were, and they sprung a big one on me. The rather curt lady told me they hadn't gone to the bathroom in their kennel in 18 hours, so they asked me if I wanted them walked outside, which would cost $5 per walk per dog! This hadn't been communicated to me beforehand that I would have to pay extra for potty time on a small piece of grass. It already cost $42 for both dogs, and then they added on an extra $20 per day for potty breaks since they wouldn't go in their kennel. I said, why would a dog poop in their kennel when they're housetrained? This was a scam in my opinion and a way to extort more money from me. \r The worst is that they both came home with diarrhea, one bloody. It's been five days, and now I have to get them to a vet. The kennels obviously weren't kept clean. I ended up paying $380 for five days for two dogs. My dogs have been kenneled elsewhere before and have never been expected to poop and pee in their own run, and then charged extra to go outside on grass. I'll never go back except to sue if either dog dies from whatever they contracted there. The people are rude and tack on hidden charges, not to mention unsanitary conditions. more

DO NOT board your dogs here! 6/4/2009

We are new to the Portland area and have never boarded our dogs over night before. I checked around and Cooper Mountain seemed to be nice and their facility looked clean and friendly. We dropped our dogs off and were able to kennel them in the same kennel for $42 per night. I was shocked to learn that your $42 doesn't cover any human contact, just for them to stay in their 5 ft X 5 ft sleeping quarters with another 5 ft X 12ft ""run"" during the day. IF you wanted your dogs to have any play time, a walk or even to go to the bathroom outside the ""kennel"", you had to pay extra! $5 per session PER DOG! I called at 4:30 on Saturday afternoon to check on them and couldn't get a live person, I had to leave a message, and my call wasn't even returned until the next morning! For paying the amount we did for our dogs to be taken care of, Cooper Mountain's service was extremely below acceptable. They also only allow you to pick up your dogs between 4-6pm on Sunday, and of which they charge you for Sunday as well! We dropped our two dogs off at 11AM on Saturday and picked them up at 4PM on Sunday, bought 2 play times for each dog each day and it cost us $118!!!! I was already upset by that, when after checking out and putting them in the car, both dogs reeked of urine, especially my male dog's head! My dogs do not roll in any sort of secretion, so even with the play times we paid extra for, they were locked in their cage so long that my boy dog's head had to sleep in his own urine!! The checkout lady, April, was also non friendly and quite rude.I would never bring your beloved pets to this place! Pros: Clean looking to the customer, Nice play areas if you pay Cons: See below more

Great facility and wonderful employee's 12/9/2008

I have a 7 yr old black lab that for the past 4 yrs my dog has been going to cooper mountain kennel to get groomed and boarding. The staff is wonderful to work with and the facility's are by far the nicest in town. I would recommend everyone to send there dogs to cooper mountain kennel if they want the best for there dog. more

Highly recommended grooming and boarding facility! 11/26/2008

My husband and I have tried a few boarding facilities in the area (including Laurel Achres and Rockcreek) and this one was by far the best. They followed all the special needs for my two Aussie's and did not double-up dogs in the kennels. Friendly staff and beautiful facility. My children will return! Pros: Staff, facility, services and amenities Cons: Location more

Our dogs were happy 10/27/2005

We hesitated to kennel them as we never had kenneled them before. But our two ShiTzus's were taken care of very well. One of them, Emma, has special needs. She has allergies left and right. The staff followed our directions and gave her the shots, special foods and care she needed for over 10 days. The place is clean and I love the exercise yard. If you tend to worry about who will take care of your pet when you want to get-away on a vacation, don't. Cooper Mountain was great! more

Your dog is their client 6/30/2005

We like the way Cooper Mtn staff treat our dogs (Cairn and Westie) as though they are the clients. Always glad to see them when we board and sad to see them leave. Our dogs are always excited when we arrive for check-in and reluctant to get in the car to leave. That speaks volumes about their time at the kennel. Pros: Staff, Runs, Cleanliness Cons: a bit pricey, runs close at 5pm more
