Good but not great 12/16/2008

We have been going to Cooley's over the past decade, its in a great location, has the unique feel of a family owned establishment and for the most part the menu has lots of choices. There has been a slow downward trend on the quantity of food and the quality of service, causing us to go much less than previous years. I would recommend going for lunch they have a great sandwich selection, great soups and wonderful deserts. If you have an issue with smelling like smoke when you leave then you should avoid. Overall still beats the crud you get at Applebee's and Ruby Tuesday's. more

Try the wings on Wednesday 3/17/2008

Great place, good food!\r \r I especially enjoy the Wacky Wings Wdnesday, but the food & atmosphere is great anytime.\r \r Cooleys has been around for many years, and had new owners for about the last ten years. They have done a fantastic job of making this the kind of place you can go and have a good time along with a great meal. Nothing real fancy but way more than the usual burger fare. Pros: Fun and tasty Cons: Sometimes a short wait for a table more

The Best Place to eat in Fuquay 2/4/2008

If you are like me, you generally try to stray away from the chains. They are usually a dime a dozen and if you eat at once place, you have eaten everywhere. That's why Cooley's is such a refreshing change. They offer up unique specials and the desserts, which are homemade, are to die for. \r \r The staff has always been great and it's always been a pleasure eating there. If you want a good suggestion of something to eat, I high suggest the pan seared scallops and ravioli. Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Price, Service more

Tasteless seafood, No creativity in food preparation, Service lacks Attention to Customer 9/21/2007

I just moved to Fuquay and hoped to make Cooley's Pub/Restaurant my new neighborhood restaurant of choice. It looked as though it could be inviting from its corner position at the end of main street. But I was disappointed greatly, and don't predict going back.\r \r First, when we entered, it was a solid 5 minutes before anyone from the staff greeted us or offered to take our name to put it on a wait list. \r \r While waiting for a table, I noticed that the special that night included some of my favorites - seared scallops over cheese ravioli with pesto cream sauce. It was $16, so I trusted that if someone was going to put a price tag like that on a meal, that it would be delicious. Instead the 5 tiny bay scallops in the dish were completely tasteless and obviously had been frozen for a long time. the pasta and sauce were nothing to speak of as well.\r \r the service was subpar too. we had to ask more than once for napkins, spent a good 20 minutes with a stack of dirty plates waiting to be picked up, and when I sent back the scallops, the waiter didn't think to ask me if I'd like something else for my dinner instead. I had to catch him to ask for a menu. Also, our appetizer of crab stuffed mushrooms, which took about 15 minutes and wasn't very warm, was unimaginative. The crabmeat was dry, and notably lacked some sort of sauce or oil. \r \r My dining partner's broiled flounder was also completely tasteless and had a lot of bones in it, making both entrees completely not worth our whiles. The waiter also charged me for my side salad, even though it came free with meal I had ordered (and had hoped to enjoy).\r \r Sum up: The service is lackluster, the management does not seem to care much about clientele (no one came to apologize for the unappealing $16 plate of the day, or ask if they could get us something else) and the food is bland and overpriced. You'd be better off going to another restaurant in town, even a chain. Pros: cheap beers Cons: tasteless food, noisy, crowded, inexperienced service more

BEST WINGS IN ALL OF FUQUAY! 11/1/2006

Nice place to bring friends 1/18/2003

We were up a creek as far as finding a place to eat that was nice in Fuquay-Varina. It came down to Cooleys and another establishment. Because Cooleys had a review on Citysearch that was favorable, we took our visiting friends there. We enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere. The only down-side was when we got home we all smelled of cigarette smoke. This was strange, since none of us really noticed anyone smoking while we were there and it didn't bother us while we were there. Maybe just a little tweaking of the ventilation system could solve this situation. All-in-all a good place to eat though. Pros: Food Preperation, Food Selection, Courteous staff Cons: Cigarette Smoke more
