Worst

I ordered some cakes from this bakery and was very disappointed! They looked NOTHING like what I ordered - when I made mention of my disappointment I got a big dose of attitude!!!...

The kids love it and the food is great 3/2/2007

We originally discovered this bakery by attending a birthday party for my daughter's classmate. The party was hugely popular with all the girls -- they decorated cookies with lots of different candy, and ate a ton of the decorations in the process. There was a birthday cake made of cupcakes, and luckily there was enough left for the grownups. Unlike the cake we've had at every birthday party, this was not only edible but actually fantastic. We've been back several times since, and have never been disappointed. The cupcake flavors seem to change each time, and so far I've tried the Strawberry, Key Lime, Red Velvet and Nutella Fudge. My daughter always gets the vanilla, and she loves it. I signed her up for a rodeo cookie decorating class here that sounds like a lot of fun. We've also tried the cookies, and my favorites are the PBJ and Mudslide. My one criticism is that it's hard to find for the first time -- we met some friends here and they kept driving up and down Westheimer until I finally had to go outside to flag them down. Now that I know where it is, though, I feel like one of the lucky insiders. I highly recommend this family-friendly local bakery for both kids and grown-ups. Pros: Great desserts, lots of fun for kids Cons: Can be hard to find more

Great cupcakes, Awful Valentine's Day treats 2/18/2007

This place makes the best cupcakes I have ever had. I've driven 45 minutes out of my way to make a pit stop here before. My wife actually had them make a huge batch of their cup cakes for our wedding. Pros: Great cup cakes Cons: Bad Valentine's Day cookies more

Best Chocolates in Houston 1/17/2007

They make AMAZING chocolate truffles here -- they're so pretty, they look like jewels. I gave these as gifts for Christmas, and everybody was blown away. You can pick your own flavors, so I customized the boxes for each person. I've tried the cupcakes and cookies here, and everything was great, especially the oatmeal cookie. While I was selecting chocolates, my 3 boys had a blast playing with the train table they have, and they ate a bunch of cookies. Nobody wanted to leave, so we've been back several times already and have loved everything so far. I highly recommend it. more

unique and great tasting cupcakes and cookies 1/3/2007

This montrose bakery/coffee shop has filled the hole in my heart that diedrichs left when it closed down. Their coffee is fresh and great tasting and the friendly waitstaff can make any drink you'd like. I recommend the Nutella Hot Chocolate. Their cupcakes are light and fluffy, I highly recommend the Nutella fudge and the Mudslide cupcakes. The cookies are also very good, i recommend the chocolate chunk toffee pecan or making your own dozen cookies to take home. I have visited the store several times and plan on returning. FYI the parking is hard to see, it's in the back you have to turn onto hazard street and it's right behind the store. Pros: great food and drinks, a relaxing place to meet friends for dessert Cons: parking is hard to find, it's in the back more

Stick with the cookies... 12/28/2006

We took our 3 year old for an afternoon snack to check this place out after seeing an article. The description is misleading here as I think their specialty is cookies not cupcakes. Loved the idea of cookies made to order, but the little one was looking for instant gratification so he opted for a chocolate chip cookie from the jar. My husband and I decided to partake in the cupcakes. It seemed a little odd that they were all the same price as 2 of the 3 we got were very...well..dinky. There were about 5 flavors available at the time. We ordered the red velvet, a spice cake, and the sour/tropical with blue icing. We were not impressed. The icings were ""artificial"" tasting and the cakes were just average. Not exactly worth the $3+ for each one. The place is new so maybe we will give them some time to work out the kinks. Would like to go back for the fresh baked cookies when we have more time though. Love the smell of fresh cookies from the oven! Pros: Fresh cookies Cons: Cupcakes not up to expectations more
