Relaxing, revitalizing, pampered 1/21/2011

The Conservatory Salon & Day Spa was everything I had hoped it would be. The personnel treated me as well as I have ever been treated by anyone, and the concept of quiet, self-centered relaxation was a dream come true. more

Keep Looking 1/20/2011

I find it extremely strange that my prior review of this salon is nowhere to be found on the internet. I want to warn people about this salon. First of all, this salon prides itself on being "environmentally friendly". Why then did they abandon a perfectly nice salon when they were located in the strip center on 494? Maybe it's because it was a strip center & that was 'beneath them'? Instead, they built a brand new facility with bamboo flooring, etc, etc. The materials & energy to build this new salon was not as environmentally friendly as taking advantage of an older, vacant building. (And I'm not a hippie chic either - Just an observation to something they pride themselves in). Secondly, the front desk staff are very snobby. Ladies, you are working at a front desk. You are the first sight when clients walk in the door. How 'bout starting off with a genuine smile & invitation? I have gotten along just fine with the front desk before, but I felt that I had to give them a 'better-than-thou' front to seem worthy of their conversation. How silly, right? Thridly, the hair service..... I went in for a root touch-up. I paid $90 for a PARTIAL root TOUCH UP! (No blow-dry). My hair did not even look touched at all. I still had at least 2 inches of dark roots in prominently noticeabe areas. I was disgusted that they could charge so much for a touchup for my thin, shoulder-length hair. I have not been back. Hair services are becoming ridiculously overpriced. It amazes me how much some women will pay to get a temporary hair fix. If you are going to pay anyone to color or cut your hair, I don't recommend this place. I used to regularly go to The Conservatory when they were located in the strip center & had better prices. If the girl who I used to see still worked there, then I'd probably still be a client, because she was wonderful. Also.... Beware of the plethora of positive reviews for this salon. I have noticed an overwhelming number of reviews that all read very similarly/same vocabulary/same punctuation, etc. Maybe this is what the front desk staff are doing in their spare time? Anyway... I also received an email recently from this salon saying "We miss you. Come visit us soon" with a link that you can click on to review their salon. I find it interesting that they encourage people to send reveiws of their salon THROUGH them. I assume this allows them to filter out the bad reviews before they are posted on the world wide web... ALSO... Notice the usernames of the previous reviews. They are all similar. Then, click on their username for reviews of other places. There aren't any reviews for other places. (Unless they've updated that now. ha). What are we? Dumb? By all means, feel free to give this salon a try. You may have a better experience than I did last time. Maybe they have improved their services after seeing some negative reviews online? And I'm sure that not ALL of their stylists suck. P.S. Last time I published this review, I received a reply a few days later from someone who claimed to be the owner's granddaughter, scolding me for writing a bad review about her grandmother's salon. I'm sorry, but I have to be honest. EDIT: To be fair... The price isn't bad considering that they offer you a drink while you're there, have a nice atmosphere & give you a neck/head massage followed by a hot towel when they wash your hair. (Although, i was not offered that last time, they usually do). Now, if my hair had turned out just right, THEN the price might have been worth it. more

Splurge! 1/19/2011

I can only afford a trip to the Conservatory about 2 times a year, but when I get a chance to go, it is a wonderful splurge! No one can make my hair look or feel as good as the team at this place - and I've used 3 different stylests. I recommend it - especially if you have the $$. more

I love this place! 1/19/2011

Reputation 5/24/2010

I came here upon a referral, Just having moved here and not knowing many people i asked around. Alot of people travel from Kingwood to the Galleria area or Houston area, but i wanted to try someplace local. When I first walked in I thought wow, then i was ignored at the desk, and when they finally acknowledged me, whoa!!!! RUDENESS, I should have left right then, but i went ahead. I am not going to name any names, but , let's just say i will not return, once my hair returns to a normal length, i think i will go in to the galleria area where they are a little more, lets just say current! Pros: Beautiful environment Cons: skills, and rudeness more

Perfect start to Spring Break 3/17/2010

This was the perfect start to Spring Break, a relaxing massage in a beautifully comfortable environment. I feel completed rejuvenated! I would recommend a massage at the Conservatory to anyone who is feeling tired, stressed, sluggish, or just wants some quiet time. Shannon is a wonderful caregiver with plenty of attention to us and with helpful, professional tips to relax. I couldn't have asked for a better morning! Pros: Wonderful caregiver with plenty of attention more

Always A Great Experience! 3/17/2010

: I need little explanation for Michelle to cut my hair perfectly every time. She always offers me water or coffee to make sure I'm comfortable before she starts. She is so sweet and was very understanding when I told her I needed go to the Aveda School for hair color. The minute I stepped through the doors I was immediately greeted by name & told I was checked in. The staff is always so friendly & fun! My experiences at The Conservatory have always been great, but this visit was beyond any expectation I could have imagined. I was so surprised when Karen offered to take care of my next 3 hair colorings, I was speechless. I've never had a business offer something so special & so caring in my life. I didn't even know what to say it was so appreciated. I felt surrounded by friends by the time I left - truly a place of refuge for relaxing & spending quality time. I love everyone at The Conservatory! You are all so special! Pros: A Place of Refuge for Relaxing &Spending Quality TIme more

Very Peaceful and Inviting - Loved the Atmosphere? 3/11/2010

I loved the overall atmosphere of the Conservatory, very peaceful and inviting. The people at the front desk were very inviting and made me feel very comfortable, and Kerri was very personable and did an excellent job with my haircut. Something that was very impressive to me was when I was in line to check-out someone who was either the owner or manager came and asked me how my visit was and if I was being helped, and she said she would keep checking to make sure I had been helped. That was very impressive to me! I definitely will be returning to the Conservatory and will recommend it to my friends! Pros: Excellent Hair Cuts; Personable Staff more

I LOVE this place!!! 3/11/2010

Since I have been coming to the Conservatory for some time now, I rated all my experiences "as expected." If it had been my first visit, I would have rated everything "far better than expected." We are so fortunate to have The Conservatory right here in Kingwood. I don't have to dress up or travel far to receive all the best spa experiences. The staff really makes an effort to make you feel like family and everyone is so professional. I may have to pay a little more for the services but it is worth every penny for what I get in return. I love this place!! Pros: They Make You FEEL like Family! Cons: May Pay More, but worth Every Penny more

Great salon! 7/19/2007

Best hair cut and color I've ever had! I would trust my stylist with my life! Atmosphere comes off a little pretentious, but I don't think it's intentional, and the attention you receive with your stylist makes it all worth it! Pros: well trained staff, lots of personal attention Cons: greeting staff could be warmer, but they are friendly more
